I like it, but I think since their acquisition by Activision they had to come up with a way to make this a reoccurring franchise without making distinct sequels.
Personally, this move is about making more money off of the IP.

Since it's a trilogy, they are "aiming" for 1 yr release after the previous. I think they made this move because there's no way they could have release the full version soon.

You know if you go and watch the original Alien film, the chick driving the transport ship...says the same exact things as the Terran transport ship from Starcraft....it's almost an exact audio match.

please god don't let me get addicted to this game. i've wasted enough of my life playing diablo, diablo 2, wow and diablo 3 will be just as bad. luckily i never got into rts.

I heard the "release date is set to be Nov. of this year". But being blizz it will be pushed.. I was SUPPPPPPPPEEER surprised they didnt push back WoW WoTK too bad. only like once or twice.. not nearly as bad as WoW BC..

I keep updated on when it comes out from EB Games. It was suppose to be first week in December in 08 and than a month or two prior it got pushed back to November of this year. lets hope they don't push again. I've know for two years now and tired of wait

So the closed beta is out...
And a crack for the closed beta is also out. You can't play online, but you can play against user created AI maps. I've only played twice with terran and zerg.
The game pretty much feels the same, but with different ways of doing old things. Requirements seem kind of high I think. With an ATI 4870, I had to set it to medium or else after 100/200 units with zerg.... I'd lag a bit.

Yeah.. I am guessing around summertime. They are trying to push WoW cataclysm till november or so (which I think is a huge mistake).
There is no way Blizzard will come out with two big releases like this in the same month. It would be stupid of them to do that.

I've been playing the crack everyday... It's amazing. Kinda pissed about little things like some hotkeys got changed... Pylons are E... But my roommate and I made it quite clear to our gf's that once this is released... They should consider us dead for at least a month.

^ Agreed. New hotkeys are annoying. I don't understand why they remapped some of them.
Overall, very good additions to an already great game!
Surprisingly, its quite demanding though. My 8600M GT has run it at low res/settings once the screen starts to get filled up.

You guys will probably get used to them.
Don't think my laptop can handle the game. Good thing too, between ME2, BC2 and maybe some MW2 sprinkled in there I don't think I'd have much time for SC2.

I got a GTS250 with a Core 2 Duo @ 2.66 and I can play almost maxed... But I'm building a new setup just for SC2... i7 920... 6GB Dominator 1600... Xigmatek Dark Knight Cooler... Haven't decided on the board but I'm ready to OC to 3.5GHz and max out SC2
(and play SC1 at the same time! lolz)

You should check out the YT vids... theres a lot to learn from them.
ie. warpgate hotkey = W. It'll select all your warpgates at once! Very handy.

Yeah, I like how you can select more than one building at a time as well as being able to select more than 12 units. I'm kinda disappointed about Protoss, goons are gone and their replacements are gimped and so are their air units IMO. Zerg is okay but it seems now that Terran got a boost... and I think I'ma have to switch from Protoss to Terran...

As far as the Goon replacement, eh, they are decent... not as great as Goons but Zealots got that movement upgrade which is pretty dope.
Toss air has been weakened a bit... I will miss scouts but now that they have warp gates, getting units to the frontline is much easier.
