360, PS3, Wii: Guitar Hero - World Tour
360, PS3, Wii: Guitar Hero - World Tour
Game has been out for a couple of weeks. Anyone pick it up?
I was gonna buy it today, but the guy at GameStop said that it wasn't compatible with the instruments from Rock Band on the PS3.
Got home and searched, and so far, it seems that RB instruments ARE compatible with GHWT, but the GHWT drums are not compatible with RB. Most people think this should be able to be resolved with a patch from Harmonix, like how they did with the GH guitar now being compatible with RB and RB2.
The Xbox360 version does not have any problems with compatibility.
ANYWAYS, for anyone who did purchase it (any version), how is the game using the RB drums? I ask this because the RB drums only has 4 pads, vs. the GHWT drums having 5 (3 plus 2 symbals).

I haven't had a chance to play either honestly, been too busy, but from what I've seen the RB drums are MUCH quieter - like nearly silent. Huge complaint when you have to crank up the volume late at night during a 4-person jam session just so you can hear the music over the drums. I think just considering the drum layout, I'd prefer the GH drums.
For anyone else, how do the two games compare personally? Songs wise, then peripheral/stylewise? Can't decide what to get

Because my RB1 drums were loud as hell until I bought some pads for them...
Sorry the RB2 drums are much quieter, for RB1 we used terry cotton towels on the pads, folded them over to a thickness that worked (too thick and it doesn't register hits, too thin and it doesn't dampen the sound enough) and taped them onto the pads, overlapping on the back hard plastic side. Worked great, but it was ghettooooo
Rock band certainly has the better overall selection right now, if you include DLC
and the rock band 1 songs.
I'm not overly thrilled with some of the death metal on the RB2 disk, tho.
GHWT still has some overcharting, but It doesn't seem to be nearly as bad as GH3.
From reading reviews, one huge negative, imho, with regards to GHWT is the band.
If one person fails, the whole band immediately fails. In Rock band, you can 'revive'
a person three times. This is great for people just breaking in. People fail like crazy
on drums when they first start.
There are some issues with the GHWT cymbals right now, they tend to lose sensitivity.
I assume that will eventually get worked out.
You can read a lot of various opinions on the rock band/guitar hero forums.
(both biased as hell of course, hah)

Really? Holy shit that would suck...
I got a friend who keeps trying to play "hard" on the guitar, and we always end up failing out because of him.
When they included the "no fail" mode in RB2 it was a Godsend!
I got GTWT for 360 yesterday and I have been playing it non stop. Actually I had to stop BC my hand was cramping (pretty dorky huh?) This issue of GH has one big plus in my book, no more covers, all the songs are done by the original artists. They have also really diversified the types of music this time around, Fleetwood Mac, Tool, even beat it by Michal Jackson and some good old Blink 182. Best GH ever in my opinion and Ive been playing since the original.
I am glad that GH is diversifying their music types.
That is the one thing that irks me about RB.
Just because the game is called ROCK Band, doesn't mean all the songs have to be Rock songs...

And RB2 is all originals, no covers as well.
I still havent got GH:WT...going to wait awhile on this one.
I rented it, I actually like it a lot better than GHIII; much better song selections and the boss battles are not nearly as gay.
I beat it on hard in about a week, but I may end up buying it anyway to try expert.

NM found out Rock Band 2 drums work for both but not the guitar. And even the drums don't work yet for PS3. If the drums weren't crap for GHWT, I'd get that game since the guitar works for all of the guitar games.

Ummm, what? Guitars work fine for Rock Band / Rock Band 2 / GHWT.
Rock band guitars will not work with guitar hero III however.

fucking Costco... I was there to pick up some chicken and ended up walking out with this game (along with the chicken)... total impulse buy. The thing is... I used to play the guitar (electric)... but I haven't touch my guitar(s) for the longest time... I've totally lost interest... but a couple years ago, I got my friend GH2 for his birthday, I walked into his birthday party with it and it became an instant hit... I remember having a lot of fun, but since then... I've been reluctant to pick up this game because.... well, it's obvious... I feel kinda ashamed... Anyway, I gotta find something else to play other than COD4 because I've been playing it since it came out (LIVE). I need something else... and I hate to admit it... Gears of War 2 didn't quite do it for me... thank God I rented it.

There are plenty of people who still play guitar/drums that still play GH/RB/
etc. People who say 'why would you play GH/RB when you could play a real
instrument instead' are just shooting their mouths off, and probably haven't even played the games.
First of all, it's a game.
Second of all, Unless you are going to also form an entire band, it's going to be an entirely different experience anyway.
Two among many reasons.
- Frank (who also hasn't touched the guitar in a while)
Does anyone know for a fact that the wireless guitar from say GH3 will work for GH:WT?
I play drums and I've got to say that the drumset for GH:WT is significantly better than Rockband's set.

I didn't know about the problems with the drumset but, what I said in my last post is based on my playing on a new out of the box set for a few hours.
Guess I had to play a bit longer to eventually break it.

The problem I see at the store most often is the wires that connect the cymbals to the drum set always are broken.
I don't know if it is because people are hitting them too hard, people are trying to take them off without knowing there are are wires, or people breaking them on purpose.
I do admit that the pads are alot more quiet than the RB drums.

I picked up GH:WT yesterday. I finally had a chance to play before I had to go to work. The new guitar is great! I can rip throw the keys a lot easier using the touch sensors than using the buttons
