you have to take into consideration the graphics card in the PS3, dates back to 2005/2006 and as far as i know, it wasnt even a high end graphics card.

gonna bite the bullet

Anyone playing the beta yet, here are my impressions:
So far I am enjoying it. At first I was thrown off at how the game handles and move but I am liking it now. I play more tactical and more stealthy than how I play in Bc2 which is more Rambo, lol. I like how the sniper class has the beacon which is helpful, but when I play sniper I usually roll with the shotgun. The runs smooth for me at 60fps but there are bugs in that I encounter like hit detection and animations not working properly. But one that was weird is people falling through the ground and shooting me or when I fall through the ground and get stuck:
(Looked like someone photoshop me out of the game, lol)

The map has its moments. I enjoy more of the close combat of inside the subway than the outside, but when you get to fight outside at the end it is pretty awesome!
One more thing, I hate using the web browser for the game I prefer it to be all in game.

Im really enjoying this Metro Map. We try and let teams blow up the first 2 mcoms outside so we can play more in the subway and the second outside level. Im playing on PS3 and have the same map glitches. Also, the mics/chat weren't working the first day, but seem to be fixed now. The squad management seems off too, but i haven't played much battlefield in the past, so maybe its supposed to be like that. When joining up with friends once you get in game it throws us in different squads.
As for the gameplay- I dont have any complaints except that the flashlights are a lil over powered. I shouldn't get blinded by one 20 yards away in the daytime.

They opened Caspian for a short time the other night.
I'm just sad that I can't afford to build a PC just for BF3. I like it on xbox but the graphics just isn't the same.
and thankfully this is just a beta with all the bugs, that hopefully will be fixed in a month when the game comes out.
seems lots of people are whining they can't tell enemies apart because they don't have the comically COD style of putting people's name on their heads haha. I actually love it BF3 style so its more of a challenge and exciting (or frustrating)

Anyone on PC, add SHE_L00KED_18 (those 0s are zeros)

^^ enemies don't have the greenish or bluish name indicator above them.....
this game was fun, I enjoyed sniping people from the 3rd floor of the building looking down over the street.. the subway was decently fun, it was fun to get flat on the escalator and take people out down the way.
its nice you can go prone now (you couldnt do it in 2, right) - and you can also crouch. cool.

Me too. I wish I had known it was 3.9 gigs though, I would have started sooner. I thought it was going to be around a gig. Only 1 hour and 40 minutes to go! Guess I'm not going to be playing it tonight.

The beta graphics suck. I'm pretty sure it renders everything at medium, despite your settings. The game is fun, but is extremely unpolished. That's okay though, this is a beta not a demo. The beta is already boring (as expected when playing one map for an hour) but I cannot wait for the full game release. Should be a lot of fun!
One thing I found odd was that they said my driver was outdated (although its the latest from nvidia). Apparently there is a specific battlefield 3 beta driver. Wouldn't installing that driver more than likely degrade the performance of other PC games? Doesn't really seem worth the hassle just to render medium graphics.
EDIT - Enter the password 'shoppingcartsareagoodride' on a Caspian Border server to gain access. Good luck getting in though, seems pretty full. Also, they change the password routinely, but a google search should help.

i believe all campaign vids were PC.
this beta will only be a huge success if they let us play a map that isnt like CoD.
i dont play BF3 to have a ground war style deathmatch... i play BF for tanks, helicopters, jeeps, and the tactics there within.
you dont even get to use the full potentional of the loadouts without these vehicles..
if you go toe to toe with CoD on ground warfare only.. you are going to lose..
DEF can't wait for the full version....My only complaints are like above the enemy issue, and I feel like the knifing/breaking away doors and glass is WAY to slow. The graphics aren't the GREATEST in the world but in all its a SOLID game it seems......can't wait for all the vehicles.
I actually been playing BF1943 alot....those graphics are lacking(cartoonish) but the game is FUN...thats what makes a game GOOD to me. I'll give alil on graphics as long as the game does it's job and ENTERTAINS me. BF3 seems like it will be hours of entertainment...at least for me.

Sucks that they dumbed it down graphoics and game[play wise for the "beta"
But I understand they had to.
This is obviously not a real BETA, rather a marketing scheme, pretty smart one at that. By now the game has to pretty much be all polished up and they are probably checking on their end for any issues.
They put out this dumbed down BETA just to get the juices flowing and get people talking about it. Not Bad.

Look at all the official videos on YouTube and how smooth and the awesome graphics they have compared to the beta

Its Mostly marketing like I said. If the Beta was really this bad with one month to go then they'd really be in trouble.

Don't believe me? Look at the nice little commercial before your start and end the game. It tells you about the release date. Think about it as one long commercial that you can interact with
They had it looking good on ps3 way back in June

It appears they shut down the Caspian Border servers. I hope you guys got a chance to play a round or two. It is far and away better than Metro. I just wish I was better at flying jets and helicopters. I would crash after about seconds. Ah well, maybe I'll get better at it during the full release.
