Are you going to buy each one by itself? If so that's 1200x4=4800 points which is 10 bucks more than what you would spend on Premium, and you don't get any of the double xp events or bonus content.

 

Anyone plays this on PC that is pretty active? looking for new friends to play with. Getting tired of soloing every round.

My friends WHALEKILLER and JPHUCC are on a lot of times, so if u see me on I'm most likely playing with them

 

Ok I've been slacking on my BF3 play cause my monitor isn't at least 1080P res and/or my processor/card wasn't as good to play without any jitters.

I'm only lvl 14 but bout to play a lot more. Instead of searching throughout the thread, anyone wanna play with me? :d

this one is just fine for me. i still love playing the larger maps that shipped with the game for the majority of the time.

and we've been getting double xp events (weekends) long before the DLC came out.


not to mention by the time any more DLC releases, there will be new halo's and CoD's to put time into. hell, even a new battlefield shouldnt be far off. (it came out in oct. of 2011)

 

So you like big maps eh? Have you not heard of the next DLC? Armored Kill has the biggest maps in Battlefield history. DICE has yet to release DLC that has bad maps/guns/vehicles/game modes. This isn't CoD where they release a map pack that has two maps from a game you already bought and maybe one good map with no new guns. A new Battlefield is doubtful, they have DLC planned for BF3 until Q1 2013, so the likelihood of DICE/EA developing a new game before Q3/4 2013 is doubtful. Also, CoD and BF are totally different games, mainly because BF requires you to use skill, where as CoD is more of what annoying perks can you use, and how well you can sit in a corner and wait for someone to walk by. Although there is Halo 4, but that series and BF are total opposites. As for DBL XP, Premium had one this past weekend, and another one that goes from July 2 to July 8! The Premium calendar shows one every month until March 2013, all exclusive to Premium members. If you ask me, Premium is worth it if you play Battlefield at all.

 

Battlefield 4 was confirmed at the same time BF3 was released..

and im aware the difference in each game, i promise. they have their own advantages, usually that is overshadowed by whatever my friends are into at the moment..

by the time i am done with the new CoD fad and Halo 4.. a new BF WILL have come out..

there just isnt much sense in myself dumping $50 extra dollars on a game that will see exponentially less playing time as time goes on and other games release.

Just because they confirm it, does not mean they will make it. Lots of games have been confirmed and then the studio goes out of business, people quit/get laid off, projects get pushed back and become more expensive as time drags on. BF4 is at least a year away at minimum. Will they make it? Most likely. But it won't come out until at the earliest Q4 2013. How is buying games your friends are into and will probably get over them as soon as the new game smell wears off smarter? Why not continue to play a game you enjoy with brand new content? You don't get that with CoD DLC, they release shit maps (as of late, MW1=best CoD maps, and also have the same subscription service that BF3 has) that cater to one kind of play style, not multiple like you get with the BF3 DLC.

 

you're putting way too much stock into the whole CoD thing.. i play WAY more games than just the 2 being compared...

BF3 gets the most airtime out of the military based FPS... Halo gets more than both of the formentioned, and the rest is shared with racers like forza, RPG-ish games like Borderlands and Oblivion.. i could go on for days.

i clearly understand your point, but its a moot one as i said, i will not be putting huge amounts of hours into this game as time goes on. so for me, its a smarter move financially to just buy the current map pack, and possibly one more, im saving 20-$30 in the process...

 

Ok. I got you. I'm glad your range extends out to RPG's and such. Those are the real time killers, as I usually put 80+ hours on a single playthrough lol.

Don't even get me started. I got lost in one of my mines for about a half hour the other day. That game could consume 24 hours of my life and I wouldn't even notice it.

i love this game, but private servers just turned out to be a nightmare.

server hosts make rules that only people on the opposing team have to follow.

i just wanna play on a regular dice server, but there are never any available.

 

I just don't care if they want to complain about something, I do it anyway. People need to understand that it's put in the game to be used, not for people to kick people for using something. Now I understand when people ban for spawn killing/camping in conquest, or for teamkilling/excessive team trolling, but for using a shotgun or a grenade launcher? Get over it!

Touche sir! I did mine on the carrier of Oman to the very tallest crane. With the M98B/12x/Bipod it was just under two mils on that scope. My friend was using an SV98 with an 8x and he was shooting at the same guy, he had to aim at 5 or 6 mils on that scope. What map did you get yours on? I can never find snipers on Firestorm anymore, no one snipes as much as they did when the game first came out.

what's this junk about premium? BF3 got stale for me relatively soon for a MP game, but I'm thinking about getting back on it now that my friends have built their comps and want to play.

I last bought and played Karkand 6 mos ago... contemplating just getting the CQ expansion, $15 to tide me over until GW2 or Torchlight 2 comes out isn't bad at all.

I've said it before in this thread and I'll say it again.... the AN-94 is the most godlike of the assault rifles at mid-long range. Kobra/reflex, underbarrel rail, heavy barrel = headshotting snipers across the map on Norshahr TDM.

The learning curve with that gun is so worth it. the recoil is just a tiny kick up once you get the timing of the 2-round burst down

This, also, the higher resolution makes things smaller on screen.

It's already about 2 feet away. higher res makes things small as it is. I have a 27" iMac at work and it's perfect for work. FPS gaming, not so much. Previous monitor that i have set up now as a secondary is a 23" and much easier to notice, aim and kill enemies. I think with time i'll adjust.

Korean no name IPS displays are all the rage right now. I picked mine up from Microcenter for $438 after tax and EWaste fee. This is compared to a 27" ZR2740w for $560 through my work's hardware vendor.

If you want some more information let me know. There are Ebay specials for $320 with some caveats (no ad-board, dual link dvi only, only some vid cards supported, etc.) Mine has DP, DVI, VGA, and HDMI inputs and an ad board so it's more pricey.

These use the same panels in the 27" iMac. Super happy with mine. Noticeably whiter and sharper than the 2 acers i have.

My current setup (27" is now elevated about 3.5"):
