Out of curiosity, what would you PC guys say is the recommended hardware specs to run BF3?

Thinking about building a PC for gaming.

 

yeah 2 shots will kill a tank now from missles. Only takes roughly 3 shots from a tank to kill another tank now also.

if u rlly care about graphic performance get the new 600 series from nvidia.
i was on an upgrade budget from my previous dual core and 8800gtx, also upgraded my motherboard+ powersupply+RAM

make sure u get a really good performing monitor as well.

I went back to playing this game. I had forgotten two things:

1. How fun this game is. I've actually had luck and been in good squads where all four of us are the top four players.

2. How glitchy this game is. I spent an hour on one match. I was doing very well and unlocked a ton of stuff. Only 70 more tickets until we win and all the sudden "game disconnected". You have got to be kidding me. RAGE.

I really need to get my computer cleaned up and install my new CPU heat sink. My CPU is getting in the 70's sometimes. Not good at all.

Still not sure I completely understand the ticket system. I usually only play rush...the tickets deplete after your/other team spawns, but do they also replenish if you get to the checkpoints?

 

Nope, your tickets don't replenish.

As you stated, ever respawn removes a ticket (not kill mind you, if you are revived that ticket is safe).

Once you get more than half the flags on the map, the opposing team starts to bleed tickets as well ( I think at like one ticket every two or so seconds).

First one to zero lose.

Yep along with some other random in game stuff. Think you get a different melee knife,dog tags,gun camos etc.

Woah, yeah the whole battlelog UI is updated. I'll have to look through to see what's been improved. Anyone get premium yet? I want it but I don't have $50 to blow today. Maybe in a week or so.

Edit: Already found one thing I don't like. You need to add "Origin" friends to see them in your feed. Apparently just BF3 friends isn't enough.

Edit edit: Looks like premium will unlock more emblems for the platoon as well. May help our current one look less crappy. If anyone is good at that stuff let me know, and promote you so that you can redesign it.

Edit edit edit: I just found out I do have some money to spend. Just purchased Premium.

 

So I got BF3 Premium, and there are exactly 0 servers for Close Quarters. This may be a time that official servers are good.

The battlelog makes it look as if you can play it now when you search for matches. It's probably for the best, I have a test next week and probably wouldn't study as much.

 

DLC - Armored Kill includes the ability to spawn into an AC130 Gunship

hmm... interesting. i do remember there being a AC-130 in the desert combat mod of BF1942, and you could pilot it!

 

So I purchased Premium. I have to say that even though Close Quarters isn't available for XBOX till tomorrow I do find myself having more fun playing the game now that there are new assignments. Even though the reward is just a silly dog tag that I'll never think about again, having an objective makes me spend more time playing.

It would have been nice if it were a few bucks cheaper if you already bought Back to Karkand since it is technically "included" in the $50 Premium upgrade.

In playing about 6 hours this weekend it seemed like close to 50% of the people I was playing with had purchased the Premium upgrade.

 

I didn't pay for karland, had the limited edition or whatever it was.

I really like CQ pack. It adds a lot of variety to the game. Sure, this could be seen as a more direct response to COD. That's not necessarily a bad thing though.

I like the new assignments and the new guns quite a bit. Love the new maps. You can actually use any gun to destroy certain walls, so it's nice to be able to shoot little holes into walls and shoot people through them. Or use the holes as a "heads up" that someone's headed your way.

Gun ranks is fun, but it can get a bit fustrating. It's a team structured game, but there is only one winner. That means you're actually competing with your own team. Some times this is annoying because you'll only be surrounded by your teammates and have to run around the map for five minutes to find an enemy (who will probably be killed by your teammate, leaving you with a kill assist).

I felt the pack was worth the money though, and happy I got it.

 

Couple things annoy me:

Spawns seem completely random, and it feels like enemies just appear out of nowhere right behind you. I hate having to worry about getting shot from behind at any time

When you join gun game late, it starts you at the beginning. I think it should start you just behind the median rank, so you dont join late into a game and have to run a pistol against everyone with assault rifles and whatnot.

I preferred reverse gungame anyhow, makes more sense to start with the best gun and move up to the worst

 

Hi guys! Idk why I haven't posted in here yet. I am a Battlefield freak. Played since 1942 on the PC. Unfortunately now I play on the 360, wish I had a PC capable of handling it. I play quite a bit of BF3 though. Here's my BF3 Stats link: Silver Satin CL <- Also my gamertag, I play regularly in hardcore and have Premium(which I believe to be total bullshit but hey, everyone has to make money these days right?). Anyway, CQ is pretty fun, love the ACW-R. I really like how you can just tear up the environment in a totally different way in these levels. Scrapmetal is my favorite though.

 

Ah, too bad you can't play on PC! Seems no one plays anymore.

I haven't gotten the ACW-R yet, but the SPAS and Aug are really capable guns. I'm trying to unlock the M5K now...

 

M5k is good, but needs the bigger mag, you rip through one clip fast as hell. Unless you have them lined up perfectly it's one kill per clip.
