Hey guys. I've been loving reach lately. Old school Halo guy here. Played the original for years! Loved 2 hell it even made me subscibe to xbox live. Then I found out kids like to cheese, and cheat
alot! I bought 3 but got pulled away by COD. Never even played ODST not even once.
I got reach and have been glued to it. The daily challenges are really a fun addition to the norm. I was so close to getting the 1000 kills for last weeks challenge,(750 or so) but then I had to unplug and move into my new place
. No internet until the end of the week. Unless I can jack some wifi! I love the Big team battle , and Swat! I'm itching to play right now.
Add me if you want I'm pretty nasty check my stats...

Agreed. The first time I played ODST I didn't care for it. After some time I warmed up to it. I eventually played the campaign almost as much as I played Halo: CE. Is it worth 60 bucks? meh..not really. 30 bucks? Definitely. Plus I got all the Halo 3 map packs, which before I hadn't a single one.
I 'm looking forward to getting an xbox soon..i used to play the old halo on the original xbox online alot...my buddy has reach and i play a few times a week..shit is so addicting..
i play with you! you always either get on when i've played for 3 hours already!
or you invite me or join me when i have 3 friends who are hell bent on playing big team.
6 p.m. Central time.. TODAY... be there..
lets wreck some shit.
played about 6 or 7 games with gr1mjow last night...
all big team.. but more than half were elite.. and most of those were Hemmorage lol.
we won every match, but man that shit gets old FAST. the new maps cant get here fast enough.. and like you said, they need to update the playlist to show less or even NO elite slayer on BTB

had a good time with fifty last night (nohomo)
we played a few rounds and won em all. we even won in swat
had to quit on elite slayer though. i hate that shit. especially on hemmorhage because the map is so fucking long and it takes 15 minutes to walk through without having sprint.

Still no internet in my apt, FML... (Monday
) I needed my halo fix so I ran through the campaign again the last 2 nights on Heroic this time. It really is a good campaign even playing solo. I gotta say Reach has one of the best and most satisfying endings of any campaign I have ever played. The Lone Wolf mission at the end is really fun... How long can you stay alive?

I'm still picking Active Camo as my main armor ability. I hear people complain all the time about how cheap it is, but really it takes some skill. I have yet to run into another player who uses it correctly. Most people activate it then just run like normal, oblivious to the fact that they are only slightly translucent.
Armor lock is okay, but gets extremely annoying when everyone on the opposing team has it. "Okay one more shot and he's a goner!.....ugh he has armor lock, got to stand here for 5 seconds....he done yet? No......Now?.....Okay he's almost out....*harrybawlz sniped you*..RAAAAGEEEE"
When used correctly these AA's are extremely helpful, but unfortunately people don't care for the use of tactics.
Also, has anyone else been getting stuck here? This is about the 6th time my game freezes on the this screen:

It's supremely annoying.

armor lock works great in groups...
alone it doesnt do much for the average player...
active camo is great on small maps.. but i still use armor lock about 90% of the time... when used correctly, its devastating.

biggest problem I have with this game is when you are shooting someone with a regular gun, it doesnt "feel" like you are killing them. it feels like, "i wonder how long its gonna take before he dies". so theres no satisfaction there. why would it take 20-30 shots to kill someone? stupid. I do like the big guns that you can disconnect from the ground and carry around - thats some satisfaction there, you feel like you are killing.
Yeah, they've had that problem from Halo 2 on (and sorta in Halo one really). Since you are a trained augmented soldier wearing thick high-tech armor supplemented by a strong anti high-velocity particle shield, it takes awhile to die. The result of all this is, normal high velocity objects (errr...bullets) slowly whittle away at the shields, while explosives normally used for destroying vehicles just barely have enough power after taking down your shields to kill you.
It gets really frustrating to unload a whole clip into a guy, only to have him turn a corner and escape. The solution is to slow down. If it's an automatic weapon, aim for the head and pulse the trigger in 1/2 second bursts. If it's a semi-auto, allow your target reticule to reduce size before firing. It takes 5 head shots with a DMR/pistol to kill someone, and 7 with a needle rifle. At ranges where it is necessary to use a scope, the needle rifle has the advantage over the DMR. Getting shot forces you to zoom out, so if you have the needle rifle you can normally just hammer your opponent to where he can't get an accurate shot off.
Halo is really just a complicated version of rock-paper-scissors.
It all depends on what weapon you are using and when you are using it.

It doesn't allow unskilled players who see you first to kill you..
It's in it's own genre to be honest.. There is no spray and pray in halo.. The better marksman will kill you 90% of the time even if you shot him first.
There is also nearly zero problem with camping.. Which is a nice change from the norm FPS.
I don't rank it higher or lower then other games like COD or Battlefield bc it's simply a whole different game.
I do however compare COD to battlefield often.

Oh, also, a lot of people don't realize that when a person lunges towards you with a sword you can block it. If you punch at the same time they hit you, it takes down both players shields. Thus, skilled players can often kill sword wielders. Of course, if you get hit unexpectedly you're doomed haha.
oh Im not saying Halo doesnt take any skill. not at all. its just a 'different' skill. good to know about the sword defense, I think the bigger problem I have is that I do not play the game myself, ever. I only play when my friends are over. so, im only decent, at best.
i didnt make it sound like anything.
i stated how the strategies differ in each..
eventually telling how they are not comparable...
one is based more on your ability to move around without being seen and using superior vantage points or "courses" through the map.
the other is based more on marksmanship. and often relies on close-quarters teamwork.
to break it down.
i could be terrible at CoD and kill somebody who is Considered awesome. simply b/c they ran through a doorway past me.
this is not true for halo.
again, neither game is comparable b/c the play styles are differnent. they require different skill sets.
the only thing Halo and CoD have in common is that they are FPS... nothing more.

i said a weak player cannot do this to a skilled player..
not that the entire act was impossible.
of course the circumstances change if you have a one hit kill weapon or assassinate them. but gun to gun... the superior player will win
