360: Halo - Reach
Well, another iteration of Halo is on the horizon, this one titled "Reach." There is a teaser trailer that doesn't show much, but from my brother-in-law told me, it's a prequel to the first version of Halo.

You didn't like Halo 2 or 3?

What didn't you like about them? Personally, I think the campaign was fine. It's the xbox live online play that to this day, still needs a serious overhaul.

I thought the stories were relatively lame and not as involved as halo 1. I could play "assault on the control room" on Halo 1 over and over, there were no levels like that at all in either 2 or 3 in my opinion.
Hah, thats exactly how I felt after playing halo 2 and 3...they just didn't hold the candle to the first one.
For those who forgot about the game (or don't read gaming news sites):

This game has potential to make Halo great again.

I got in a couple of games, no server problems for me at all. Played for about 2 hours.
Fun as heck. Love the different types of personnel. Getting airborne is interesting, but I found myself gravitating towards the type where invisibility is an option.
Gotta get used to the buttons though....

the invasion game type dropped at 11 this morning! be sure to get on and try it out!
the BR was replaced with the BMR.. it has been said a few times by bungie.
they will be tweaking the flow of things after the beta is over but i dont believe adding or bringing back more weapons is in the cards.
if you were good with the BR the BMR works in almost the same manner, you just can spray across ones body with 3 bullets.. each shot has to be a hit.
one thing that is obsurd is the power of grenades.. they need to tune that down about 12 levels...

they have already said they plan on limiting use of both grenade guns when the game releases..
also, there are a lot of complaints about the strength of the grenades.. blast radius is like 15-20 feet used to be between 5-10.
invasion is the better game type so far. but it only lets you play one round either offense or defense.. they need rounds like in CTF..
give all your feedback to bungie guys.. they are listening.
I've read that they are working to fix the grenade issue is some way.
I like Invasion but prefer Invasion Slayer even more. It actually feels like a full scale battle, rather than just a small skirmish.
Only problem I have with the game so far is that it is almost too action-packed. I remember one of my favorite parts in Halo: Combat Evolved were maps like Blood Gulch, where you could have some downtime to plan some strategy. Those games allowed you to recoup a bit where as in this game it seems Bungie is looking to constantly throw you into the battle. Reach either gives you just barely enough time to get the objective, start both teams with weapons that allow the other team to be in range when spawning or have small enough maps to were it only takes 5 seconds to get to the other teams spawn.
This seems more like an issue with the maps themselves though and not the game. I am sure it will remedied with the new maps on the full game.

with the newly inserted "armor loadouts"
you can be there are gonna be numerous large maps to compensate for the sprint/dodge/jetpack abilities..
the invasion map is the largest map ever made on the halo series, but you rarely get to utilize that with the gametypes that are provided for it.. its you were to play say "Big Team Battle" on it, it would let you use that space much more efficiently.
i like that they are trying to change things, but they need to be careful in doing so, b/c most halo players are very entangled in the classic fun brought about in the older games.
hopefully this beta will teach them everything they need to know about what we do and dont like, and fix it before the game ships.
there is also a few new gametypes thrown into the "grab bag" playlist... keep an eye out for them.
and for the love of god... fix the grenades.
