Finished up my trip last night with a late night drive back to NC. Made really good time
On the way I got to play with a new body style 2016 R8 on the highway. Obviously he could have kicked my ass being as the 2016 only have V10 available but it was a good time for the 5 miles or so that it last before he got off the highway. Was probably the best part of the trip honestly.
So after two long stints in the car close to 500 miles each I have to say the car might have a very faint drone with the valves open. I am not 100% sure it is drone though. I think it might just be the fact the car is just that loud at those speeds and you just hear the muffler rumble. With the valves closed I don't seem to notice it as much though so to me it is almost like it isn't there then. I will have to suck it up on my next long trip of at least 2hr and do the entire drive with the valves closed but with this being the first trip with the exhaust it was just to much fun leaving it open the entire time and zipping around hearing it roar. I had a few instance when I stopped on the trip and would remote start it while walking to my car and people would look over like wtf is that making that noise.
Now if I could just get rid of the occasional rattle from the exhaust hangers hitting everything would be perfect. Don't think I am going to get to start trying to tackle that on my own till early November though.

Drive it over here, You can test out the drone theory somemore and once you get here ill fix it for ya. Then you can let me take it for a spin around the block or something Then we can sit back drink a beer and ill tell you everything else i think you should do to it like better projectors, wide body kit, moar boost.... you know, the easy stuff.

you still have a 'unicorn' of a vehicle when you look at the total... it's no OBM 6MT like bob's but hey, you got to be in it to win it... and look at the alternative... no Vagon in your driveway...
and there is always a solution... it just depends how much money you want to throw at the problem... you don't want BDT anymore? get the car wrapped white... you want recaros? there is a set on the fb v classifieds asking under $3k... you want colored calipers? there is a guying doing swap set on the v forums...

but yes... be grateful with what you have... we are all very privileged to have more than one car and the greed in us quickly wants more/better/best... one night when we were having dinner, the mrs asked if i could, would i have more cars... i said just like with kids, if i could afford it, why not? it's hard work yes, but they bring joy in my life... but it's not to say that if i can't, i hate myself. it doesn't mean that i am not happy with what i've got... if i am, then it is on me to make a change... i would never say to ever be complacent with your life...
strive for what you want, work hard, then reward yourself, then rinse and repeat... that's the only way that we as a society and individuals advance... one of my bosses once said something to me that changed my mindset. 'if you don't grow, you decay.' i use that every day in my life but you also have to never ever ever ever lose sight of what you have already accomplished... otherwise it is never good enough and you feel like you are never getting to where you want to be.... milestones are a good point to take stock of your life, see the good and the journey you took, think about the future and what changes you need to make now in order to get there...
and in closing, on
DISCLAIMER: i'm no motivational speaker, but i play one in real life...

Funny enough, I mirror those sentiments to people a lot in real life too...but I guess it's easier to apply that logic to others. Self reflection is always harder.
I appreciate the post, Kam...and sure you're right...sitting here wah wah wah...not sure I got the right $50K wagon...lol...and then still have my S2000 parked.
I probably should have sold that and kept the TL since I can't drive a manual to go pick up my daughter during the week.
But you're right, I used to debate that with my old roommate...I'd say to be happy with what you have...but also always looking at the next best thing and if it was worth spending the money for it...
quite the balancing act.
Okay, we can carry over into my thread. This thread is intended for bullshit and no real content.

Anyways, came in here to say the V windshield doesn't run flush with the roof deck..
I get all types of splatter on there. Freaking pollack piece of bugs, rubber, and butthurt.

had to throw the phone on the charger!
dude, ending was epic with me hauling ass toward the camera, but then 2 big rigs on the active road drowned out the exhaust and I parked so close you could only see the top half of the car.
Fuck it, edited to the fun part only.

Well, next step for me is to replace the magneride on the rear and I'm gonna pull the cradles back toward each other to get some positive camber back.
If I don't rub, I'm good!
Start with the springs...then do spacers once that's all set up!

icey - you got any aftermarket cooling mods to go with your pulley? or is it all stock? i had an interesting read on the frozenboost hx yesterday... and for under $200, i'm leaning towards just pulling the trigger even though i'm stock... i also figure i can use it when i eventually go pulley...

Think I finally found my wheels. If I definitely do them they won't happen till I get my tax refund in the spring.
