First real pics of the "white" Rivian interior are coming out and I really don't like it. Looks like the wood is almost yellow/pink looking and not the bleached asswood that everyone was looking for. Also the seats aren't white, they are a dirty gray look. I'm probably going to switch my config to the black and play it safe. The green interior actually looks outstanding in real life but I don't think a green on green color scheme would look great and it's also a $2500 up charge.

on the white. The seat color doesn't look bad, but the rest, not great.
Really like that green interior, but black is a safe bet.

That "white" interior looks terrible. Green is my favorite but it only really goes with two or three colors.

I really like green, it looks fantastic in real life but I'm not sure it's worth the upcharge to me.

Me too, unfortunately not something they offer...

Also you can't mix and match wood with upholstery which sucks. I'd swap out the bleached ass wood to the one in the green interior. Even black with that brown wood would look cool.

Not turning a profit because you can't make enough of something to offset expenses is one thing. Not turning a profit because you can't sell your products on the shelf is a whole different thing. The demand for Rivians is huge, that's the thing keeping the show going. No way they were going to be profitable out the gate.

I'm not hoping they fail, I just saw this and thought it was noteworthy.

I do find it odd that someone traded one in after 4k miles.

There are people flipping them after like 300 miles for a HUGE profit.

Well when there are people willing to trade a huge sum of money to cut a VERY long line...then cool, let them have at it. The markups have certainly come down by a good amount but, if you want a R1T RIGHT NOW, then you're looking at a $110k truck at least. Most of the time they're going in the $120k range. Great profit for those who bought them for $75k.

I guess for 40k+ I'd trade it too. I wonder what the tax liability on that profit is. Weird times indeed.

Standard short term capital gains would apply in most scenarios.

To calculate a capital gain on a used car, find its original price and subtract the sales tax and any additional taxes you paid. Next, add any long-term vehicle improvements you made after the purchase. Finally, subtract that total from the price you sold the vehicle for.

Short-term capital gains come from assets held for under a year. Based on filing status and taxable income, long-term capital gains for tax years 2021 and 2022 will be taxed at 0%, 15% and 20%. Short-term gains are taxed as ordinary income.

Looks like they will add it to income. That is not cool. Guess it's a problem I'd not mind having.

lol

Thought about the interior dilemma some more while running 7 miles through a forest at 3am on Friday night/Saturday morning and decided to swap to black. Just updated the config online to make it official.

Who knows, maybe this will bring my delivery date up?

Didn't seem that tight when I looked at one at the grocery store. Seemed a bit larger than a crew cab Tacoma.

Looks pretty comfortable to me

It's pretty similar to the Tacoma in head room and shoulder room but more leg room (beats it by 4").

Being 6'3" I would most likely have my seat pretty far back. This space for the back seat seems small..

Ragnar race. I do it with friends every year. Seems like a terrible idea (and it is) but it's a lot of fun and a nice challenge.

Daddy Doug is pretty big and he fits just fine.

Tight in the back of a Silverado??? My in laws have a Silverado crew cab and have two car seats back there for carrying grand kids...there's a fuckload of space back there, way more than almost any car around.

No problem with a rear facing carseat in a 2012 Suburban, and it's not the roomiest (door-opening wise), better once you're inside it.
Looking at the above images, I'd think most carseats should be fine in the R1(T & S).
Even my Malibu fits our bulky rear-facer without needing much driver seat adjustment (forward just a hair).

If I sit in the passenger seat with the car seat in the back, my knees are in the dash. Same goes for my wife's Explorer. I need me some leg room!

You must be short torso, long legs.
I"m 6'0" & have pretty much no problem, with our (Graco, I think) carseat in the Flex, might just barely touch the headrest.

Quick Reply: Well...the S2000 needed more doors, more driven wheels, and a lot more torque...
