Well...the S2000 needed more doors, more driven wheels, and a lot more torque...

Cool to road trip it with a group. I'm guessing the GX driver was the most comfy on the road. I've seen a few modified ones & it looks like a good medium duty offroader.
Drove a couple when I Was in the car business. I recall having to make a run to fill one up (1G GX) in the middle of a Houston monsoon downpour. Small gap in traffic & all the torques through the AWD. Thing took off like a rocket with no slippage
A mild lift & some highway friendly A/Ts & it'd make a comfy DD.

If private party doesn't work out, do Caravana or bring it to your local VW dealers to see what they'll give you too.

Update on delivery date, looks like they are narrowing down to a one-ish week window instead of a month lol.
Estimated Delivery: June 14 - June 23.
If my car doesn't sell private party by the 14th, I'll sell it through Carvana or similar and move on.

VIN number issued, shit's getting real now. Expected to arrive between the 13th and 19th but could possibly be sooner.

It's June. You can worry about the winters in a few months

Buy now, while there's stock in place. Though I'm sure you guys up in the Arctic plan ahead & there's not as much panic buying pre-winter?

There's a massive tire shortage right now, I don't want to be left SOL for winter tires when the temps drop.
There's no stock right now, but they should start getting inventory for winter tires in August-ish.

Time for pics from Moab. Still waiting on other pics from people but here are some of the ones I have so far. Some are of the Jeep before/behind me doing the same thing...
And after being cleaned up...I don't think I posted the pre-trip polish/wax but here it is.

Delivery date for new car is confirmed for Friday next week, maybe sooner depending on how things pan out. Started the process to sell the Golf to Carvana since they are offering significantly more than Tesla. Overall I will have lost 6.5% of value after owning the car for 3 years and 20k miles...not to shabby!

Got the power outlet installed for the car to charge from over the weekend. Electrician wanted $800 to run a line to the other side of the garage so I just DIY'ed it.
Took me a couple hours to snake the wire across all the rafters (open ceiling) but got it done just fine. Went with a 20A 240V outlet to save some money on material since wire is stupid expensive now. Also, a charging rate at home of 13 miles per hour is acceptable to me since it'll be plugged in for 10-12 hours a day and I don't drive that far anyway. If I need more there's a supercharger not far from here. The 30A outlet was like 2x the cost in wire alone.

What will delivery be like? Is there a pickup location nearby or is the car dropped off at your house?

Hi Sam,
Do you have any pics of your electric diy? Just curious, I’m lookin into a Tesla, and would need the outlet on opposite side of garage. I’ve done some electrical work in the past, so I’d (like you) to diy this. Thnks
In for pics when you get yours!

A pic of what I did probably won't help you since every install is unique. Wiring is pretty easy for a 240V, just make sure you have enough overhead on your panel to accommodate another 240V run. I did a 20A run and a 6-20 outlet because I didn't need more than that and allowed me to use 14Ga wire rather than 10Ga or 12Ga as they are a LOT more expensive. If you take a pic of your situation I can walk you through it.

For what it's worth, there were no misaligned panels or paint issues that I could find after looking the car over for a good long while. The only issue I saw was the adhesive for the rear spoiler was coming loose so they ordered a new one for me and will swing by to install it.

Nice! Hopefully that's the only QC issue you run into.
A neighbor of mine just took delivery of their black on black Model Y today too.
