Moving slowly so very little was done yesterday, in addition to taking care of my wife, & "normal" insomnia our shepherd has epilespy, Saturday night in a deep sleep he had a series of seizures, the worst yet, it was horrific & lasted over 5 minutes EACH, yup, when the first one ended, about 5 minutes later he had a second. That is a first. After cleaning up the bile from his mouth & total evacuation of his bladder & bowels, he then as "usual" was disoriented & does not sit still, usually for about 30 minutes, this time it was over an hour. I thought he was ok & he wanted to go outside so I let him & he fell in the pool TWICE.
That Bronco must be cursed for getting hit. Sorry to hear that happened yet again. Also, sorry to hear about your dog. Never fun when something happens to them. Hope he is doing alright!
Sorry about all the things going on with you. I wish your wife a rapid and smooth recovery. A friend from work also had a dog with seizures, scary stuff.
I know what you mean about house expenses. We decided to bite the bullet a get a bunch of maintenance and repairs done to the house.
Thanks, the pool is especially annoying, no one has used it in years but obviously it has to be kept up. It is literally a hole in the ground money goes in.
Yup, the pool is part of my maintenance. It has been leaking almost since we bought the house 20 years ago. Now it’s delaminating too. So we had to get the interior chilled out, get it down to the shell, and tomorrow they are scheduled to come and put the pebble tec in. The decking all around it is cracked, so we are getting that resurfaced as well. We are also replacing the gutters between the house and the screen enclosure with 7inch wide heavier duty gutters and we will replace all the screening since a lot got torn up last summer in the hurricanes. We are the same as you, last time we used the pool was maybe 5 years ago, and it’s only because the kids wanted to jump in. If the house had a different layout where the pool was directly behind the garage, I would have seriously considered filling the pool in and making the garage 2x deeper.

100% this.
We're just getting into pool season. Hoping to use it more this summer than last.

Kids are long gone, Wife used to swim in it but had not & with the recovery won't be. I suppose I need to amend that no one uses it, Harley went in 2x Saturday (unwillingly) lol

Hope you guys enjoy it, pool guy comes today so I'll have flow back, been dumping liquid chlorine in all this time.
Our old house had no trees, so the pool was a bathtub all summer.
We've got a lot more shade now which is great in the heat of the summer, but makes it take a few weeks longer to really get to comfortable water temps
Luckily, ours is salt cell. So much cheaper than chlorine.
Kids have been in a few times, water is still a bit on the chilly side [low 70s]
those are a PITA too though, I had to replace the main board on mine once, then the board the display is on another time. The high voltage regulator goes out every few years so I get to solder a new one occasionally too. Sometimes the cell itself goes, and thanks to Covid those massively spiked in price.
like I mentioned before, our house is shaped like an L, and the pool area makes it a rectangle. Unfortunately, the garage is at the heel part of the L not the toes, because pool would be gone and I would have the most awesome garage in my zip code. (Which I would need because likely I would be sleeping in it…)
I don't have apnea. I pee a few times, but the rest is that I am a crazy light sleeper. When an ant in Senegal thinks about moving, I am up. I do go right back to sleep, usually, luckily, but on average, if I get 4 continuous hours, I am lucky.
Right now, it is thanks to getting up every 3 hours to give my Wife antibiotics & her waking up from pain.
