Yikes. Always been an [irrational?] fear.
our filters at our old house had to be cleaned monthly & they got bad quickly.
This pool is much more manageable.
Forgot to post, it leaked worse, semi locked up, killed the starter, I hoped I was wrong & it was the flexible links, It wasn't starter came today, dropped the truck at Firestone via AAA.
Motor done, being delivered to the shop, AAA took the Sequoia there now.
Never expected less than 72 hours after they got my core that it would be done.
Both BAT & C&B refuse to host the Z unless I agree to no reserve. Both claim better engagement, I'd think the only engagement would be people hoping to get it for nothing, & I'm not interested in giving it away, I want a 15k reserve, which is less than 1/2 of my insane upside down amount I'm into.
Amazon sucks giant hairy donkey balls, now the coolant is "shipped" with another order & magically on time, nevermind no movement since "processing" at carrier facility at 7:30am.
Wife had another procedure yesterday, implant expander removed, area cleaned out, new one put in. The surgery went well, they added a pico 7 wound vacuum to keep negative pressure in there & minimize infection, which buzzed all night, Dr said they are 99.9% reliable, but this means it is defective, so had me cut it off.
These came yesterday, I like the magnetic holder, my drawer space is full & the 17mm bottom makes it easy to get a wrench on & slip them into tight spaces. 24-6mm.
That pump buzzes in case of an issue or is the buzzing the sound of it working? Looking at the link you sent, it does not have audible or tactile user feedback and only the lights on the top indicate issues or proper function.
Doctors will tell you all kinds of bogus BS when it comes to device reliability but I can tell you with my professional opinion as someone who has been working in med device for the past 13 years that nothing is designed to be 99.9% reliable and most definitely not a disposable temporary use external pump that isn't even remotely critical to sustaining life. I've worked on external pumps that have to work otherwise someone could die and they are rated at 99.5% reliability.
It was a recurring buzzing that kept her up all night. I have 0 knowledge of the failure rate of medical devices, that's what the Surgeon said.
Even if it had a 51% positive outcome rate us getting a bad one is outside the normal negative rate. Sorry if I offended you, also thanks for the empathy regarding the cancer, needing 2 additional procedures, and all that goes with that.

No offense at all and apologies from me on lack of empathy regarding your situation. My comment was more so such that you can have an informed idea of how this stuff works and how they're rated, docs are great at what they do but they don't get the device side beyond the intended use so wanted you to feel better about the fact that you're probably not in some 0.01% camp of people having a bad device. Also, reliability isn't calculated on a linear scale, it's exponential so going from 99.5% to 99.9% requires exponentially more confidence/testing/data to make it happen.
Anyway, the buzzing noise is probably the pump working as they're hardly silent and especially so for the temporary use ones. To be safe, I'd suggest you check the indicator lights and see if there are any error codes present. I don't work for (and never have) Smith and Nephew but a lot of these function in similar ways and the way they communicate error/fail states is a federally regulated thing so they HAVE to indicate to you that there is a fault present in some way that would make you take note of the issue consistent with the risk level of the error present. We had one device that was for life sustaining support and it had an absolutely ear piercing alarm powered by a separate battery AND capacitor that would go off if the device took a shit and/or lost power. Testing that thing was annoying AF but understandable given the effects.
I sincerely hope that the next few procedures go off without an issue and you start getting some good news ASAP, you all really need it. My work is starting to migrate more into interventional oncology treatments so this stuff hits home for me on a professional front.
Thanks, Her issue was the left breast keeps getting infected, they cleaned & R&R'd the expander 2x now, he said if there was puss this time (was not last time) he would not put it back & another procedure using either muscle from the abdomen or tissue from the back would be a future thing (unless we opted to just go there now) This has been holding up radiation so it needs to be over asap as the initial dual mastectomy was in April.
He said it was all good in there so he put a new expander in & upped the antibiotics he used as well as putting her on another, stronger antibiotic she is talking now.
We're just ready for this to be over, it is seriously scary shit. (oh and we are waiting for the result of a biopsy last week from near the pancreas found by the pet scan) so yeah, really fucked up year.
Hoping for the best for you both.
My wife's dad had to have a partial mastectomy earlier this year & has some pancreas/liver stuff going on as well, so I can empathize a bit.
I meant to address the buzzing/lights. Based on searches, it said the buzzing was most likely a leak, although it has a leak light that was never on except during "boot up." Seeing as its purpose was keeping negative pressure in there, I can see the noise being normal operation, unfortunately, it was really loud. The Dr. said just cut it out, so we did.
Oh man, I'm sorry to hear all the trouble you're having. Definitely hoping for the best for you and your family and also REALLY hope that biopsy comes back negative.
