Definitely did not DIY those; the oil pan requires an engine hoist. I had them done together at an independent BMW service shop that I trust and the total of the two set me back about $1,700. Not cheap, but I've not had any other issues to speak of and the car has a fair amount of miles on it.
$1700 is really not bad at all for a job like that, especially for a trusted shop.
Thanks for the info, been considering a F10 M5 for my next car...but wondering if waiting for the new one to depreciate more might be a better play.

There are definitely some things lacking on the F10 that are addressed on the F90. For example, the F10's electric power steering is pretty numb. There's a stark contrast when I switch back and forth between the E93 (hydraulic) and the F10. I understand the F90 improved on that. Obviously, the big difference between F10 and F90 is the AWD, which is really a matter of preference and need (colder climates). I will say this, getting traction on the F10 is VERY difficult with the stability control even set to dynamic (not all the way off). The F90's engine is basically the same one from the F10 with some small upgrades that yield a decent power bump. The F10 has a DCT (which is spectacular, by the way), whereas the F90 goes back to torque converter 8 speed (which the reviewers say is also spectacular); naturally, that issue is moot if you go for a manual. The interiors are different, but the F10 easily looks like it could be from the current generation.

But, the BMW-jerk/doucheness still is the same, right?

Thanks! None of this will come to fruition for me until sometime next year but it's good data points to have.
They are R/C. Mostly WWI & WWII Warbirds. Taken from different angles.
Did a lot of experimenting with gyro's a number of years ago. Used RC helicopter units. Now gyro's are common in RC aircraft. Think the government will kill us off with the regulations & licensing requirements.
Another fun thing was building aircraft for Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulators. Myself & another guy produced about 200 individual planes that were considered state of the art in their time. Guys are still flying them although they have not been produced for over 10 years. They were done under the AvHistory 1% Aircraft label & are still available on fan websites. We put them into the public domain when we moved on.
Nice think about the B17G & all the other muli-crewed planes is both on-line & single play you could man any position in the plane. In on-line play a group of player could form a crew. Systems AI would control any empty crew position.
Most of the planes here are our originals or reskinned versions of our planes.
No concern about the dudes not wearing masks and breathing heavy and sweating while detailing the interior?
My wife's Alfa is FILTHY....fucking FILTHY...and I heard there is one car wash open (aside from gas stations with brushes) that is charging regular price but will not clean the interior (which is fine by me)....I also have a recall/software update I have to take in to the dealer to perform and Im waiting for this shit to clear up. I also have to get my Lexus smogged...I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and get that one done soon.
These graphic were done in 2002 on hardware that is pre-historic compared to what is available today. Had CFS4 been released some of our planes would have been in the box.
Original Aircraft
Colonel John D. Landers flew the Dolls during WWII. Victory marks are unusual in that they include both German & Japanese flags. He shot down 6 Japanese planes 1 on his 2nd combat flight, was transferred to Europe were he was credited with 30.5 German planes destroyed. 14.5 in the air. In Europe pilots were credited with aircraft destroyed on the ground. The 1/2 plane was a shared credit for a ME-262 Jet fighter on March 30, 1945 as WWII was drawing to a close in Europe.

No, I really wasn't concerned. They deconned the car interiors before they started working on them. I wasn't out there with them; I was inside working. And, we kept our distance from each other when we did interact.
3rd Dan in TKD & 1st Dan in Hapkido. Took the 2nd Dan TKD test in Korea. Was a senior instructor & featured Demo Team performer when I retired. Breaking the paving blocks picture was the last thing I did the day when I retired. Used less blocks in the demos than in the tournaments. Wanted to be sure they would all break.
Have had a good life & have gotten to see & do a lot of interesting things.
Alright Bear!
I know a little bit about that..

Did they do anything after they were done with the detail? Or just to protect themselves?
Middle daughter went against trends in the family to German cars & went British when she abandoned HONDA. Both her older & younger sisters drive BMW & Porsche. After a number of HONDA'S since the 1990's including 3 Pilots she bought a Land Rover. The family will never be the same with that Engländer interloper on my driveway for Mothers Day.
Hahaha! I don't know. I wasn't really all that concerned. If I'm dead by this afternoon, I'll let you know.
So...update?
FWIW, the many detailers will ozone the car before and after they work on it to make sure all of the germs are gone regardless of pandemic. I'm guessing they might have done that.

We're week by week here to figure out if we're going to be back in the office. So far, no dice. Saving a ton in fuel costs, but definite moments of being stir crazy. Luckily homeschool is over.
Okay, I guess. I was already working from home since I started my own firm about 2 years ago. The depressing thing is realizing how little my life has changed under a lockdown!

Same here, I’ve been working from home for 8-1/2 years now. The pandemic hasn’t changed much for me besides the family being home 24/7 now, and I have small kids. There’s nothing like getting on a conference call right as my 6 y/o is screaming at my 8 y/o while my wife is vacuuming the stairs and running the dishwasher.
That's a very nice garage lineup, T. The one on the far left is your son's, right?

There is a joke here somewhere about Scuffy McScuffs (you) noticing a scuff on another car - I'm not witty enough to make it but I know the joke exists nearby
