700 fucking horsepower and you're hoping for traction!?!?
I don't care if Wilt Chamberlain built you a tire out of his used condoms...you ain't hooking up. (he is definitely hookin up but not you).
Fun fact...
one time in the Vagon I was pace carring a group of NSX headed up to cars and coffee...
I punched it to show them what's up and the ass swung out on me at 95mph...it was lightly raining.
My underwear turned from white to brown.

AWD 4 Lyf
Bullshit motherfucker
They were already yellow / brown
This is awesome. Can't wait to see the final results.
You and me both. Sucks that I don't know when I'll be able to get it on a dyno, missed the dyno day this past weekend that I went to last year..
Helps that buddy got his build done before mine so I have something to base off of. Our builds are quite similar but there are some differences..
- 2.38/8.6 vs 2.4/8.6
- Ported heads vs stock heads
- 2" headers vs 1 7/8" headers
- GP Tuning stage 1 cam vs GP Tuning stage 2.5 cam
- 91 vs 93 octane
Lastly & probably the biggest difference is Shane Hinds vs a local shop doing the tuning. Definitely thinking the 680ish+/- range. Only time will tell..
It's been an eventful week with what seemed to be a never ending dissassembly process. Getting started with assembly this weekend was so damn refreshing..
Almost managed to hit my goal which was to have the pushrods measured but came up just short. Either way, I'll take the W for the weekend considering how much of a bitch that damn pick up tube bolt was. I always laughed when the V folks emphasized that the pick up tube bolt would fuck you up & I'm officially a full fledged believer.. ..
Aside from that headache, it's starting to come together & the light at the end of the tunnel is on the horizon. Installed:
- Cam/tensioner/timing chain
- Oil pump/pick up tube o-ring (pray that it's not pinched )
- OEM engine mounts
- Valve seals/springs
- Lifters/trays
- Headgaskets
- Heads
Heads are on but not torqued down but staring at the shortblock was starting to get old..
Infamous pick up tube bolt..
Down to the bare bones..
Some LS porn..
Improved Racing pick up tube brace FTW..
If I never go back in here, I'll be very happy..
Just getting the heads on was such a great feeling. The itch is started to get real..
I'm not tuning myself, that's all Shane Hinds remotely. Send him my full mods list, he sends a base file & we go from there. It's definitely on the list of things to learn though.
A local V had JW do some remote tuning & he mentioned there was some things in the tune that he didn't like, especially considering his is a daily as well. So that kind of rubbed me the wrong way & just the hit or miss reviews I've read was enough to make me look elsewhere.
As with anything else, I did my research & Shane Hinds always popped up with great reviews through multiple platforms. Him having a 9 sec wagon was the cherry on the cake..

so are you doing HP Tuners? what did you have to buy?
Spoke to my local V buddy with the similar build & he went down to Woodward this weekend. Mentioned he pulled on a 19' E63 S with 3 ppl in the car, should be fun..
The home stretch is taking longer than I hoped with some late days at work. Slowly hacking away though, got the passenger side header/plugs/wires in, measured pushrod length & managed to source some locally which is always nice. Also got the trunnions pressed out of the rockers & cleaned up the rockers for the CHE kit. Aiming to have the motor assembled tonight except for the SC.
Prepped rockers ready to go with some CHE trunnions..
Unfortunately going away this weekend but would love a first start before I leave Friday...
Definitely not rushing, already at peace with the first start being next week but it's not out of the question for Friday depending on how today turns out. Tonight should be eventful since I'll be off early & will have a solid 5-6 hours to put some work in, should be able to get a lot done. In a perfect world, I'd like to get a bunch installed..
Still would have time Friday since the wifey isn't off till 8 to install SC, bleed coolant, oil change & whatever final touches are left. A bit ambitious but the heavy installs are out of the way. At the least, I'd love a dry start without the coil packs/fuel to see if I have oil pressure, that damn pick up tube o-ring is the make or break of the whole build.. ..
