The parts gathering is slowly coming to an end & I can officially count on 1 hand what's left.. ..I was able to flip my V lid plus some other parts & hacked away a few more things off the list. Picked up:
- CHE trunnion kit
- Morel 6504 lifters
- LPE hub (micro hub I initially purchased is the wrong one.. )
I have an excel spreadsheet to keep everything organised but to update the thread, here's the official list of what I have/what's left..
- 2.38/8.6 Pullies
- Ported LSA heads
- LT1Z Stage 1 cam kit/gaskets
- LS9 Headgaskets
- Gates K080670HD belt
- TR7IX Spark plugs
- ARP head bolts
- ZL1 lid
- ZR1 Coolant pump
- Expansion tank
- 3/4" hose for cooling system
- CHE Trunnion kit
- Morel 6504 lifters
- New Era 4" intake
- 90mm TB
Still need:
- Injectors
- BTR .660 valve springs
- Headers
- Pushrods
- Get heads inspected/flowed
Been an eventful winter/spring gathering parts & researching but the light at the end of the tunnel is real close. Planning the teardown for the end of July once I'm back from vacation..

LT1Z (GP Tuning) has a strong following & most folks LOVE his stage 2.5 cam. With that said, there's a ridiculous amount of options depending on goals.
I went with the stage 1 since it's pretty unsuspecting with little to no lope but packs plenty of midrange punch which is exactly what I'm after. The stock cam has lift around 0.490/0.480 & this "baby cam" bumps that up to 0.615/0.600 lift, with a stealth idle...
It should be ridiculous considering the car is no slouch as is..
A local 6MT V put down 640whp with a stage 2 cam, headers & a 2.5" pulley. Think I should be able to dabble with my 700whp goal..

I think that's similar to what @CCColtsicehockey ended up with...
I'd be curious to know what you end up saving having pieced it all together yourself.

My guess is you come in somewhere around 690-705 range. I would say you should be happy with anything in that ballpark. Basically, I wouldn't be surprised if you hit 700 but I think it is more likely you come in right under it honestly. Also depends on how aggressive you go with the tune for max power vs reliability.
I got 656 I believe it was for the final numbers with it tuned for the street. He said he was able to put down 677 with it tuned to the max but I said I wanted it dialed back some so as to make it safer to daily with all the miles I planned to put on it.. You have the ported heads over me but other than that I think our builds are fairly similar. I have a ported blower snout but not the blower itself. I also long term would like to get over 700whp but I think I will need to do heads and blower porting to get there.

It's a mixed bag..
Several knowledgeable guys there who don't really share too much..
On the flip side, a lot of members there who post a lot, but really don't know that much.
They act like they do, but they're clueless
Overall a great community though.
If you don't know any better, it's easy to follow the advice of a cuck-in-training if you know what I mean.

I am not even 100% sure if I went ported blower and ported heads if I would for sure make it over 700hp which is why I may never do it. My real desire would be 750 cause just to be insane and have more power at the wheels than hellcat owners have at the crank

Officially back from vacation & everything is slowly coming together down the home stretch. Checked off a few things off the list plus a few extras I missed. Picked up:
- BTR .660 spring kit
- Lifter trays
- OEM Oil pump
- OEM Engine mounts
- Solid isolator
- Steam vent parts
All that's left is headers, ID850's & pushrods. Pushrods are gonna be the last piece since I need to measure once everything is assembled to see what size I'll need. Have the injectors lined up, just waiting for buddy to get back from vacation & hopefully it doesn't fall through..
Called around the last few days to find someone to flow/inspect the heads & it's a lot harder than I thought, either they don't do V8's or they were out of business. Finally got ahold of a local shop with a flow bench but unfortunately it wasn't set up since they were in the process of switching locations.. ..The guy I spoke to ended up being the owner & was extremely helpful, said that he'd give the heads a look over if I passed by.
Managed to get there last night & spent over an hour with him going over the heads, comparing them to other LS heads he was working on & just soaking up all the information. He said they were in great condition & that they'd do well but also recommended a few things that could be cleaned up to improve flow. It was such a great experience, he even took the time to quiz me on the build to see what my goals were plus what my cam specs were plus all associated parts I was using. I ended up leaving the heads with him to clean up the few recommendations he had & to also thermal coat the valve faces/combustion chamber & exhaust port. Unfortunately I won't have flow numbers since the machine won't be set up in time but I'm pretty comfortable with how confident he is about the heads, especially after he touches them up.
The last official thing on the list & definitely the most important, is tuning. There are a few local places that are capable but I'm leaning more towards the remote tuning route & someone with plenty of experience with this cars specifically. Been doing a lot of research & I'm leaning towards Shane Hinds, his proven track record speaks for itself. Only downside is that I need to purchase HP tuners unless I can borrow one from someone local..

Dude.. drive down to the states.
So many LS specialty shops that will juice that bad boy up.
I'm sure you wouldn't have to travel far.

I would love to drive down to RPM, I watch their YouTube videos twice a week & can't get enough of it. It's about an 8 hour drive, definitely would need to be somewhat dialed in before hand. Interesting options though..

Time flies by when your having fun..
This week marks exactly a year since I flew across the country blind to purchase the V. It's been an eventful first year of ownership & the most fun I've ever had with a car. It's only fitting that as I close in on the year mark, that the parts gathering side of the build is officially complete (except for pushrods)...
Also reached out to Shane Hinds to setup remote tuning ahead of time & teardown is planned for the weekend of the 16th which is just over 2 weeks away. To cover tuning, I picked up HP Tuners pro with an AFR 500 wideband.
Should be an eventful end of the summer..

Picked up a spare set of fog light buckets to hack up for a potential fog light delete. They were painted gloss black previously so I swapped my grey ones out to see how more black would look on the front end. With the chrome fog shroud, it adds a perfect touch of aggressiveness..

It's officially teardown day..
I'll be honest, I've been nervous as hell leading up to day but now that it's officially underway, seems like another day at the office. Still a mind fuck tearing into a car with no issues..
Final pic intact..
HP Tuners set up & the base file has been sent off..
Day 1 is coming to a close. Supercharger, lid, coil packs/plugs, PS pump & idlers are off..
Tomorrow aiming to have the exhaust, heads & front end torn apart..
Should be an eventful week..

Home stretch of the tear down. All that's left is to pull the crank pulley/oil pump and the timing components. Aiming (hoping) to have the engine reassembled by the end of the weekend so that I can measure pushrod length & get them ordered/delivered sooner than later..
Been eventful for sure though, not hard work but man, mental toughness definitely gets pushed to the limits at times.
Finished pulling the heads tonight & was curious on the condition of the pistons. Happy to report that they're completely intact, the horror stories I've read made it an uneasy experience but the shortblock lives on..
Onto the pics..

To say the least..
Got a text last night from a local V bro that just wrapped up his build & finally got it on the dyno. We have similar builds & are both 6MT, he put down 688/670..

First time pulling heads ever & it was an experience, my hands are toast..
As for tires, the peasant Pilot Sports I have on there now are in for a surprise..
Since it's a daily, I need a good balance of dry/wet traction. Would love some R888's but those are a death trap in the rain. Traction is gonna be an issue regardless of tire but massaging the gas pedal is gonna be the biggest thing. I also rarely go WOT, just love blowing cars away at part throttle..
