If the car is in Poland and you want to sell, let me know. I would love to buy it. And maybe work out a trade/sale. And I'm very serious. PM me if this is some thing you would do.

been a while!
sort of. Threw money into the build.. a lot of waiting on parts, a lot of waiting on builder. Needed a daily. Picked up an RS. In a way lighter, compact underpowered subaru, i was turning out better times at the autocross. That's when I figured I was wasting too much time on the Legacy, plus priorities changed.
Ended up losing a big chunk of money on canceling build, getting some money back (long story), and using it towards another stock block to throw into the Legacy. Popped in bigger injectors, 18G turbo, and a few other components along with a tune. became a daily while I'm currently working on the RS..
While going to work.. the Legacy's trans blew (again). got it rebuilt, but eventually gave up on throwing money at it. less than 30k miles and it went through 3 turbos, 2 motors, and 2 transmissions. Its been a headache. It's completely stock now and its been fine. But here's the last pics I took of it, a week before it went down for the 7th time in its short 4 years of ownership and very little actual seat time in it.
and my little old impreza. currently working on widebody. SECOND time rebuilding a motor (here's to hoping I can actually put it in the car and not changing my mind halfway through the project).
Yes. 17x8 with 245 star specs. and I still have more room to fill! looking into some Volk 17x9.5 with 275 tires for next season.
Rear shot BEFORE the widebody went on..
Older car needed a lot of time with the interior for me to be satisfied.. especially compared to my previous two newer, more upscale cars (TL and LGT).
These pics are actually a week or two old. Ive done a several more stuff after I took these pics. I will continue to add as I progress.
Oh and my roommate just picked up a TSX. I detailed it for him the weekend he picked it up.
Original Picture.
Teaser of what's to come.. I did a little photoshop magic to help him get motivated and how i think he should mod his car.. at least appearance wise.

hahaha ugh. waiting on a few more parts to come in so i can put them on and drop it off at body shop to paint the whole car one color. i really don't like the carbon exterior. older cars and their heavy body panels.. trying to lose the weight up front, hoping to get rid of some front end plow/understeer.

current look, lowered on BC/BR street series coils, cut my mufflers off, gained a lot of top end lol...sounds amazing but looks stupid and I will have an exhaust done up soon, but first things first, WHEELS, should have them in within 2 weeks.
#619
Then ended up going with a massive single exit exhaust. haha
agreed. I got the racks a while ago, not even for the look. Just so it keeps the nasty muddy/snow covered snowboards out of my car. Then came the roof rack fad, so I try to keep the rack off my car as much as possible, I only use it when we actually go snowboarding.

I'm assuming they will be single oval tips like these - http://www.importimageracing.com/tur...wrx-sedan.html
But they do have duals for the new STi so they could end up being like these - http://www.importimageracing.com/tur...sti-sedan.html
We'll see. I like both.

I love my rack and for the most part it never leaves my car. I haul bikes ~ 30 days per season and snowboards and skis about the same during the winter so it does get used often. I also haul real estate signs on occasion.
My car looks naked without the rack. You do have to be careful loading and unloading, especially bikes. And it's a good idea not to forget and try to pull into the garage with a bike on top.

thanks! yeah, its been hell with the legacy for some reason. at least for me.
i guess you cant go wrong either one. either way it'll look good.
yeah the rack ruined the paint on my roof. I need to buff it out or just go for a new roof without the moonroof and repaint it altogether. I want to get rid of the moonroof so I can finally fit a freakin roll cage properly.
......... this.
has happened to me before. my bike ruined, broke the clamps on the footing, and my window trim/surrounds all scratched and clips all broke. yup. coming back home from a 4 hour drive after biking an entire day. i felt so retarded. I was biking all day, and come home, pull into garage forgetting that I had a bike on top.

Prospective Legacy owner here, replacing my totaled Accord. Comparing these two:
2006 with ~87.5k
http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/cto/3083172663.html
2005 with almost 119k
http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ373756658
Is this what you guys call a GT? What does it have over the base model? I like the exterior treatment.
The high mileage doesn't necessarily worry me, but reliability is a pretty high factor, as I will keep this car as long as it can go.
This is the only AWD car I'm looking at right now. The biggest benefit for me is easier sideways action in the snow.
Hopefully I can cross-shop and get both owners to drop their prices a little bit. My question is, is the LGT treatment worth one model year and the mileage difference? Not to mention the whole 1 owner, well-maintained thing.
Besides AWD, what makes this car a better buy than other family sedans?

The GT has a turbo and will be quite a bit faster. Downside is you need to run premium fuel and having the turbo means additional parts that could fail. GT also has better brakes and perforated leather interior.
If power is something you want get the GT. If you are looking for the most cost effective and economical get the 2.5i

i dont know if i would recommend the turbo model if automatic... the 5eat trans is not too great. and also, the stock VF40 turbo is very prone to going bad once it hits 100k miles (in a several cases, it goes before that).
if you just want an awd automatic family sedan, you cant go wrong with the legacy non turbo.. the trans in that wont be a problem, and the 2.5 NA motor can go for miles/years.

I want power/torque, but not at the cost of reliability. I don't want to worry about turbo and the transmission.
Drove the first Legacy, and I enjoyed it. More than enough torque for city driving, and the interior was immaculate. I'll miss the leather and some small things like steering wheel controls and heated seats. None of these things can be had with the 2.5?
It's also noticeably smaller, inside and outside.
If I don't find anything else in the next day or two and this passes a dealer inspection, I'll be pulling the trigger. Anything to keep an eye out for during an extended test drive?
Frameless doors

As far as a test drive, nothing other than the normal things (uneven tire wear/pulling to one side or the other/good gear engagement). But I would get a detailed maintenance history.

on the NA? nothing really..
I think the one he's looking into is an automatic. The NA auto is a 4EAT, which never had any common problems through its history. other than that.. just check your oil often, problem around every 1500 miles. might need a top off every now and then. Boxer motors, because of its design likes to burn oil. which leads to rod knocks and spun bearings.
and yes, definitely look out for the 3.0R. its got all the turbo features interior wise, and the power, without the turbo headaches. but they're rare.

Thanks for the help, guys.
The search continues. I haven't found one 3.0R anywhere here, and I don't think I'll get lucky with my budget.
Wasn't satisfied with the condition of either vehicle, so the search continues. It's a great alternative to other family sedans. It makes my old Accord feel like a boat, and I loved that car.

The 5EAT in the Turbo Legacy is fine if you keep the engine stock. Once you start modding, you could have issues with it. This is especially true when upgrading the Turbo. The solution is to install Valve Body mod. A LegacyGT forum member figured out a reliable fix to the VB.
I had a 5EAT in my Legacy Turbo with upgraded turbo and had no issues with it. The car was very reliable. I miss my subaru so much that I will probably try to find another one by year end.

yeah the VB mod does help.. along with trans cooler. but still doesn't help the fact that the stock turbo is known to fail in any legacy turbo model. the VF40 and 46 are just notorious for going bad.. at any mileage. but thats why you upgrade. and once upgraded, gotta go through with all the supporting mods for it. turbos are awesome for the fun factor, then a complete pain in the ass maintenance-wise in the long term.
cant wait to swap in my turbo motor!

Hey Simon, where in Poland is your brother from? I'm studying out in Katowice and the Saab I bought has RK plates too, I know the usual designations SL/SK = Slaskie, LU = Lublin, KR = Krakow etc. Don't know RK though. Sorry to derail the thread, just curious.

invidia catless dp installed, defi boost gauge, and torqued performance stage 2 tune on its last revision.
this thing flat out MOVES. absolutely love what stage 2 does to this car. on top of that im getting 24+ mpg on the highway going 70-80mph.
also swapping trunks with a wrx soon. i just feel like the car looks cleaner without the wing. i tried to embrace it but its just not me. i dont need that kind of attention. it gets enough as it is.
