going to be getting a used car this spring, and one of the makes i've been considering is subaru, because they have been really catching my eye, especially in this thread. Reliability is number one on my list. I also want a car that is fun to drive, actual performance numbers aren't important. looking to keep my budget at 6k. Anything out there by Subaru that could fit this criteria?

^ Tell me about it. I was searching high and low for a LGT (specifically a 5mt) with sub-40,000 miles on it with zero luck. I sometimes wonder if I should have pulled the trigger on the Spec B I checked out. The only issue with it was mileage since I ended up getting my MS6 with 10,000+ less miles for $5,000 less than the Spec B's asking price.

Still, 197 hp and 151 ft-lbs in a 2,600 lb car will make for a fun ride. When they boost it and it makes 250-300hp it's going to scream.

seems like it will be comparable to an s2k stock. just seems kinda blah. if they do in fact have a 250hp or higher version.... im down.

Dealers never have any. I had to order mine in 07, they didn't even have any on the lot to drive. When mine got smashed a few months ago I was looking for an 08-09, nothing again. Of course I was looking locally, wasn't willing to travel for it. Oh well.

Too bad you missed this one. The holy grail of 4th gen Legacies, beautiful and tastefully modded. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthrea...le-176391.html
I bought my CL-S from this guy back in 2001 with 8k miles on the clock and all the Comptech goodies.

full tb 3" exhaust catless, cobb flash tune bumping psi from i think 14 to 19 on stock turbo.
my legacy was dead even with his STI even with the mods, which made me lol, i think it was mostly because it was flash tuned, not pro tuned...the e-mail tune i think was running to rich and he ended up blowing the motor at 15k ha, he is putting it back to stock and getting it repaired at dealer.
I told him protune or gtfo

It seems like a lot for a VW but it's comparable to the R32 and is a much better car IMO. Plus a $600 APR tune puts it around 300/300 =o

Nope, 270hp AWD 6MT in 2 and 4 doors. Going to come in at about $34k.

The only downside to the 08-09 is that they introduced some features on the'10+ that should have been on the 08-09's such as bluetooth and a better stereo system.

We(the wife) have an 09 Tribeca Limited, it is a great vehicle providing you get a good deal. Ours was fully loaded, 3rd row seating, rear seat entertainment, etc. Couldn't pass up the deal they made plus got a good amount on the trade in. The ride is good, engine has plenty of low end power but definitely not a race car. Maitenance has been cheap and no major issues so far.

I just got a new job and I'll be working with Subaru dealers in the Midwest so maintenance shouldn't be an issue. Just trying to think of what else is out there as I can't find a 09 Pilot Touring for less than $27K around here. I can find a much better deal on the Tribeca.

I definitely want all the options, but BT isn't a deal killer.

Well take it for a drive and see if you like it. I think the new pilots look more "rugged" than the tribeca, but I have no problems driving it. I took it to Myrtle Beach a few years ago on a golf trip. Had it loaded up to the max and I think it actually drove just as good if not better under load.
