Thanks guys! It was a mad rush to get some things done before the show. I almost didn't make it in time to get judged. I'll have to post some new under hood pics. I replaced all of the ugly blue silicone couplers for my FMIC with black. Looks soo much better now.
I'm really pleased with how the wheels turned out. And I'm glad I changed up the color to black. In addition to the new look I shaved 5-6lbs per corner! I ended up being into the refinished wheels, new tires and lugs around $1400. Not bad for forged BBS.

$1,400 for BBS wheels with new tires and lugs! Amazing deal. I was into new tires for $1,000 alone

Exactly. My car is 5x100 so only 2004 STi wheels will fit. The 2005 and up STi wheels look the same but are 5x114.3. This makes the 2004 wheels fairly rare and coveted by other 5x100 Subaru owners. When I saw the set pop up in Portland I jumped on them. I paid $650 which was a little more than I wanted to, but it still worked out to be a silly good deal when you look at what I ended up with. I think I paid $180 to have them blasted and coated.

mrmako, the BBS are 17x7.5 and the Hankook's are 235/45-17's. They have been great so far. I wanted an all around solid performer that was quiet and affordable.

Hey Guys
So after doing extensive searching and checking the legacy forums, i've made up my mind and I want a 3.0R
Yes yes, I know "Get a manual" or "Get the 2.5GT!!" but i'm very comfortable with what the 3.0R offers.
- I need an automatic as I live in crowded NYC with lots of traffic lights and traffic. I also will be needing my lady (or a friend) to drive once in a while
- In my research, the 2.5GT seems like more fun, but also eats up more oil and the engine has a timing belt (I prefer the timing chain in the 3.0R H6)
The 3.0R Also meets most of what I am looking for in my next Car
- AWD
- A bit of Luxury Feel
- A bit of power in the engine
- Reliable Engine/Tranny
- Little Maintenance Required
- Navigation
- Sporty yet laid back when needed
I also don't plan on going crazy on Mods (yes I know we all say that) but I really mean it. I'm an old man now and Just want something fun that works.
Anywho I found one and am going to try and see if I can check it out this week. Its a 2008.

My insurance company, Allstate, seems to punish anything with two doors, unless it's a WRX (then it'd be double about anything else non-exotic other than an RSX-S).
I drove a used, slightly modded Legacy GT (manual) on Saturday and was pretty impressed. It was after a rain, and I took some uphill curves with the sound of the turbo whoosh kicking when accelerating hard after each shift. It was pretty awesome. Then the gas idiot light came on. I thought about putting some more in, but I figured I'd better head back to the dealer.

Will: If you are able to talk them down to 19.9, then get it. Low miles, and a good looking 3.0 in the 2008/9 MY are tough to find.
The car does have the SI Drive feature, so if you drive it again, let the car get warm and throw it into sport#. It's fun, as the torque with the 3.0 is available for about 85% of the RPM range (very flat, climbs up at about 1500 RPM and flattens all the way to redline, 6500 RPM). And slap it to manual, and use the paddles. Not bad for a slushbox.
It can be fun, but it can be very laid back. Just don't expect good gas mileage. Oh, and 91 octane minimum, or you'll hear engine knock (I've tried 86, 87, and 89 here and they suck).

The 3.0 is nice willdogs, I understand the convenience of having the ability to let someone else drive your car. My wife couldn't drive my LGT because it was stick. I wouldn't worry about the car eating oil though, mine never did, but then again I got it changed every 3k miles.

So this 2006 Legacy GT has been modded, but it appears to have been done well, and the car shows signs of being both used a lot but well-cared for. With winter coming on, I keep thinking about getting it. The salesman, who seemed surprisingly honest about the cost of fueling and maintaining a car like this, said the owner only traded it in because he had three kids and needed something bigger. Still, I wonder why they haven't CPOd it; I'm guessing the mods.

The dealer will go a little under $16K. I'm not sure of the extent of the mods. The intake is the easiest non-cosmetic mod to spot, but I believe some suspension has been replaced, as well. I'm not sure about the exhaust (the salesman said it was stock, but I thought it looked aftermarket) or the turbo. The wheels on it now are different than the ones in the photo, so I think it went back to stock there. The shift knob is a Momo, but I'm not sure if anything beneath it is replaced.
The salesman said they have records of everything--including maintenance--and all the modifications were done with STI parts. He offered to show me, but it was late in the day after my test drive, and I didn't want to keep them unless I was fairly sure I was interested. Of course, I'd also have an independent inspection done before buying.

If all the parts are STI, and the car looks good, take it for a drive. Maybe $15.5K, a tad steep but if you get it, it can easily be bumped up to 300 HP + with a Cobb AccessPort:

The AccessPort looks interesting. I may consider it. I'll have to see where this car is at already. I know that the sound of the turbo spooling up is very aggressive and the car felt pretty quick, but I've never driven a stock version to compare.

How many miles on it? It probably has an intake, which is why you can hear the turbo spool up. Hopefully it's not the dreaded SPT intake, lol.
