Fool won't let me and my K02's join, at least the gators will be happy.
Mud tires on a road driven Jeep will drive you up the fucking wall with tire noise and even more shitty driving dynamics (lol). I ditched those so fast and was immediately happy with my choice.
FWIW, My 35" BFG K02's weigh in at ~70lbs. Plus rim, you're close to 100lbs each.
Also, this is why you never go off road alone.

love you too bro...yeah it's still hot out!
LOL...it's been there for like a month now...head gasket leak...they took the heads out and when reassembling the threading of the head bolts pulled out of the heads
like, looked like little slinkies as they were intact but out of the hole. They sent the heads off to be redone properly and rethreaded with new arp hardware IIRC.
Swiss. These colors don't run.
no sir, my old boss and old friend's house...stopped by to say hi but he wasn't home.
that's what I said! Skinny Jeans!
Yesterday we ran out to the store and decided to take a detour that ended up being a 2 hour excursion down a bumpy road that was bumpy enough to make us
pretty hellbent on finding another way out to the North. Well the google satellite image of the route must have been taken at low tide. We went for it and
almost regretted it...probably about 300 yards of water to the bottom of where the doors normally are...and 100 yards to go we dip into what I image was a crater
made during the Jurassic period by a meteor. I freaked the fuck out at the thought of hydrolocking or getting stuck in chest deep mud with rather large gators
frequenting the area (Near Holiday Park for the locos pron: locals).
Gave it the onions and made it out...
immediately made me want to get 35's...a snorkel...a high lift jack and maybe even some wider fenders to keep some of the mud off of us and the interior.
I'm not going to of course but...
Only real casualty was a missing wire loom on the kc fog up front and this:
already got a set of rough country detachable endlinks on the way...traditional design was just expensive enough to justify spending a few more bucks on those
and they "shouldn't" ever have this issue and can be adjusted to get the sway bar angle back in spec.
we dirty!
this doesn't really show you but it was fucking deep
Saw this beast out by the substation
no Z wasn't with us, just her seat
this ended up being the easy part in hindsight

@EvilVirus Thanks for the recommendations...
I guess I'll need to check out the breather mods thing.
I'm not willing to cut a hole in my metal for a snorkel that's for sure.
I was considering 35's next time around too.

@EvilVirus Yes sir, I researched it...
funny but I thought about running a dryer hose and clamp into the engine bay and driving through mud with the hood cracked
in case it gets deep. Ghetto style.

^ wonder how the rest of that thing looked on the inside after that excursion. The intake on a stock JK is just below dashboard height so water would be pouring in through the doors well before you sucked any into the intake.

@Majofo , you are a must at a party.
@SamDoe1 my Nittos can Keep up with them K02's!!!!!!!!
About the snorkel...why you hatin on my ghetto ingenuity!?!?
I found out what you're talking about the hard way, methinks. When I got home from mudding Sunday morning I
saw that BOTH my front and rear diff vent hoses were dangling down. Odd I though...figured I snagged them on something.
Then I read up on how when fully submerged they get cold and create a vaccum and spout out fluid while possibly sucking in water.
Planning on rear/front diff, transfer case and tranny fluid swaps tomorrow. I fully anticipate milky white pouring out.
I will tie up the breather hoses higher up...I've read that along with one way valves, people sometimes add a fuel filter for debris filtering.
I have one that's broken that I ordered a replacement for.
Should be a fun day.

One of the 4Runner bro mods is to run the breather hose up into the gas filler cubby with the little filters poking out there. I've heard of others routing them inside the cabin back in the jack storage cubby behind the wheel well. Obviously YMMV in a Heep, but in general you want to get them as high as possible, or at least higher than the waterline you're willing to fjord.

J is already in tune with that idea
He runs a breather hose from his gas filler to his intake orifice when he's in between salt hits
He gets as high as possible, but once in a while he has to drain the milky substance from his rear

That Jeep is pretty poser status, not an ounce of dirt on it...also steering wheel is on the wrong side. That said, those brown Red Wing Iron Rangers are pretty boss...

Definitely plan on fluid swaps. You can get extended breather hoses instead of just tying them higher. I haven't done much research but I'm sure you can run them up into the cabin or something. Also, look into skid plates for your oil pan and transmission. Most Jeeps don't have them for some idiotic reason. My Rubicon doesn't even come with a factory oil pan skid.

thanks for the tips, fellers.
Yeah, transmission comes with a skid plate and the oil pan is actually higher up than that. I just put a new pan in cause I had little pin holes in it from the rust.
The OEM hoses apparently are pretty long now that I spent a day under there and knew what I was looking at. I did rear diff up to the gas filler neck like @cu2wagon mentioned.
I did the front diff up to the brake booster and the transmission up by the battery tray...about on par with the air filter height all around. I should be okay.
I'm off to sniff my exhaust fumes now.

Got a dropped pitman arm going in today or tomorrow...
With such a minimal drop I know it might not make much
difference but for such a pivotal piece that's seen 22 years
of off road I figured it was a good idea to change. Especially
since I had some points and it cost me $25 out of pocket. And
the fact that I have addressed all the other steering geometry
to accomodate the lift.
added these disconnect sway bar endlinks for that on the fly articulation. I'm pretty articulate, actually.
side of highway car dodging a must!

Thanks guys...only downside is they don't have zerk...they were $80...AND because they are adjustable for 2.5" to 4.5" lift
I have to have them all the way down so they put enough tension on the sway bar. Maybe I should get sway bar lockers. What
I do love about them is they don't have a ball joint on top to get pulled out like the previous...but the moog were $30 cheaper and
DID have the zerk...in the end I opted to keep them as usable bling...I figure popping them off when going off road might be pretty cool.
and/or my proctology exam!

And disconnecting the front sway makes a huge difference off road. Definitely do it.

Is it weird that I don't like super organized and large car events?
I'm the regional coordinator and all my meets were the same 20 people hanging out and talking shit...
even cars and coffee...now that it's a big deal I rarely want to go.

I don't either but this is pretty different. It's not an event where a bunch of the exact same cars park in a lot and shoot the shit for an afternoon and go home. Instead, you go on a trail ride, see what your Jeep is actually capable of, and get to see some awesome scenery in the process. Think of it more like a guided hike via Jeep instead of foot. It really is well worth it IMO.
