No plans to, everyone on the T4R forums is doing that, even doing a group buy. I'm going for a different look. Not trying to pretend I have a pro when I don't

I freaking love it man. I'm not crazy about the car payment, but I absolutely love having a nice brand new truck and having all the amenities that my lesser models didn't have in the past. I haven't owned a brand new vehicle since I was in high school, but I was due for a nice and new vehicle. I wasn't as crazy about the 5th gens looks as my 4th gen, but I freaking love my truck more and more every day. I can't wait for this cold ass winter and horrible overuse of salt ends so that I can shine her up again and put the rest of the mods I have sitting in boxes on and make her more mine. I pretty much love everything with my 5th gen now that I've begun making it mine. The Husky floormats, the LEDs, the HID's, it feels more like my vehicle than a stock brand new truck off the lot which bugged me since I bought it. Once I can get my speakers, emblems, LED bar, and other mods in I think I'll be even happier in the spring

Oohh exciting! I can’t wait to see your mods! I hear you on waiting for this terrible salt and snow to end. Literally one of my favorite things to do in the summer is to wash my car and wax and vaccum it, aaaaahhh so much stress relief!!

J, hope my post makes sense. When I first bought it, it felt alien. A nice new unmolested car, almost like a rental car, now that I'm making it more mine it finally is starting to feel like my vehicle. I figured that's what came across but wanted to be clear lol. Any car modder on here should understand that I'd say

I think that's always the case, KChris...
It made sense...whenever I've switched to a new vehicle, be it from a sale or accident...it's always bittersweet. EP3 upgraded to RSX-S from a total accident...bam, hated the RSX-S even though it was better in every way...no dash shift, no cool suede seats, no no power...hated it. But then something changed and it became mine and I loved it.
Sentimental value is a helluva drug!
It's funny though...you paid depreciation on something because you wanted something NEW and then immediately can't wait until it's not new anymore and it feels like yours.
I probably won't ever buy new again...but who knows, all the plethora of bullshit and hidden fuck ups I inherit because I'm too nice and trusting...well...you know...

Nom-nom-nom!!!
Any night time shots with the HID and the cut off? If I ever decide to go with a T4R the first mod is to put HID lights on (hear too many complaints about the stock halogen).

I can take some, haven't really taken many night time shots, but I just swapped in my new 5500K bulbs finally so I can take some for sure.

So I finally got the right bulbs and got a warm day to swap them in. Was a bit of a struggle because of the tight space by the battery but I finally got them in and removed my old 4300K bulbs from when I bought my 08 back in 2012. I took a coupe before shots to compare, please excuse the dirty lenses, the salt around here has been ridiculous
Before
And the after, I went with the 5500K bulbs to match the LED fogs that I bought but haven't put in yet, I love the bright white coloring
With the new bulbs I was able to use the correct wiring and gaskets to put the dust covers back on and cover the bulbs
Also installed the rear Husky floor liner, it's amazing how much thicker and better coverage this mat has compared to the OEM Toyota one

Weighing my options on sub enclosures, a company I've used for a long time is supposedly coming out with a 12" enclosure to fit the back passenger side cubby. Debating on using this instead of hacking up stock panels to fit my 8" JL again....

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Most of those premade fiberflass enclosures that fit into a space to hide in the vehicle are normally 1000-1500. That said you normally get a lot better sub for the money at least.

Winter has been horrible here, ice storms and snow storms galore, paint is taking a beating with all the ice since I haven't been in the garage all winter. Just ordered some Bosch Icon wipers, definitely can't wait for spring for a full detail and paint correction :annoyed;

They are similar, I had Weathertechs in my last 2 4Runners, the WeatherTechs coverage for the 5th gen is very disappointing, the Huskys have a lot better coverage

Finally got a nice spring day on Monday and was able to get my door speakers all replaced. The speakers that I took out of my old truck had rusty contacts so I splurged and bought all new speakers for the front and rear doors as well as the back hatch.
Of course I had to get a before of the crappy paper cone speakers with no magnets
And since I had to buy all new TacoTunes adapters since the ones from my 4th gen didn't fit, I finally had all the right pieces to install
All ready to go in the doors!
And installed!
Before of the rears
Getting ready to mount
And installed!
I was able to get all 4 doors replaced before the sun and temperature started dropping, so I got 4 of the 8 crappy stock speakers replaced so far. I have to still do the rear hatch and dash tweeters, and then add my JL sub, but it felt good to get some progress!

Are you running an aftermarket amp too or are those being pushed by the factory system?

Factory, I had bought a 4 channel amp for my last truck and it's still in the box, never ended up using it

With all the speakers you have in the car wouldn't you really need a 4 channel, a 2 channel, and a sub amp? If you plan to keep this longer than your last truck then I would consider taking the time and effort to amp everything.

meh, I just wanted better sound, I'm not planning to replace the HU either, I like the touchscreen and all the features that it has. I just wanted to get rid of the electromagnet paper speakers and put some real magnet driven speakers in there. I tried to go out this weekend to do the rear hatch speakers but was too busy....

Got the tint done today, same guy that did my 08 and did a nice job. Sorry for the giant pics, but I don't know how to resize them on this new laptop. I did 35% on the front windows and the visor across the windshield. Still getting used to it, but I'm happy so far
