@e30cabrio you are totally correct, friends sister in highschool had a 1990-ish nissan Stanza (sedan) and in my head it looked like the Maxima I posted (minus the wagon bit)
The A6 AR was one of my short listed cars back when I was shopping. They ride so well with the air suspension and the 3l turbo has decent power. It's not a sports wagon, but it's smooth and quick.

It's breath-taking in person...and the cabin is just perfect. One can hope......something to look forward to when the S5 is done with for me likely

So I had one as a rental in Germany. It rode real well, quiet (at 220 Km/h), seats are great. They are the best with interiors. But the only issue was the infotainment.... It had some glitches. The Navigation system was a bit off. I think I did a mini review on here about the car. Was a diesel. Grunt for days, not real quick but could pull tree trunks. Ha.
That P1800 is sweet, don't think I've ever seen one in person.
RE: 348, my neighbor at our first house had a 348 & 355, both Spiders. The 348 was a gated manual & the 355 was an F1.
Group of starter houses that were low-100k range in the 2011 era, and he had a Grand Cherokee & Santa Fe in the driveway. You'd never know there were those in the garage.

That’s pretty cool about the Ferrari neighbor. For a while especially the 348 wasn’t very big money. At one of the track days with my cousin back in early 2000s there were 2 f355 at the track. The sound on the main straight was awesome.
About the P1800, I’d love an old car like that, but I always remember my friend who had a thing for minicoppers (the British ones) he had several and one day he got smacked by an f150 running a light. Good thing his mini was right hand drive or he would be dead. Fast forward 15 years and he still has dizziness and vertigo from the incident.

Yeah those 348/355s were "cheap" in the 2000s. They weren't the most powerful but the sound... *Chefs kiss*
Also I just realized I shared that photo in the wrong thread
I'd go buy that car, in that color, tomorrow if it was available in the US.
im still a bit disappointed the B5 is gone. If I had 100k to spend on a car, it came in a manual, was still on sale today and could convince the spouse we “need” a 4th car, I would definitely get one

With that logic, I'd have to convince my wife I really need a 600hp grocery getter (think RS6 Avant or E63S). The ice cream might melt, so I need it to be a bit faster.

you both are a lot better at justifying your car needs, I just went with the eloquent “b!tches love wagons”, which to me is all enough… I was wrong.
vhtran, that’s an odd looking Allroad (your signature)
kidding, huge congrats on the RS6!!
also, I’m happy to read that you like your job and are in a rush to get to it
im curious about the story behind the purchase, feel free to share here, or you can PM me if you prefer.

thanks for sharing pics! Congrats again.
Yeah, I wanted an Allroad, but all they had was the one with factory freak options
Short answer for the purchase is "tax planning".
Long version was, I took my Q8 for the 40K service and there she was sitting in the showroom. The odd thing was, I had my wife with me this time, and she walked around looking at the cars. She then came back to me while I was with the service rep and she was like "there's an RS6 if you want to look at it." Well, we came back after work before they close and worked with the sales rep, they had car ready waited for us outside the lot for test drove. Here's the kicker, the sales rep knows my wife and what she does for work so, the deal is real. After back and forth, we agreed on the MSPR, but they had to take our Q8 Prestige in as a premium as well. Papers were signed and we picked it up 2 days later after our schedule freed up. Also, the RS6 ticked all the boxes that I want except the 22" wheels, which I don't mind.

I keep finding myself finding excuses to drive.
(please don't mind my typing on the small phone)
Nice! I have never been so spontaneous with a car purchase. Granted I only bought 4 cars so far, the process drags on for months…
I’m glad you found something that ticks the checkboxes, how long have you had it, and how long are you thinking to keep it?
I only have it for 3 weeks and only 600 miles on it. Took wife and kids out for ice-cream, food, and cars & coffee trips. Normally, I tend to look for new car after 3 years of ownership, but for the RS6, this could be one of the last gen with full 8 cyl ICE before Audi move it to full EV or hybrid. So, I may keep it longer but I am also a sucker for new techs .

Oh, cool! Enjoy! It’s definitely a good cars n coffee vehicle, whole family can participate.
You and I are the same age according to our info by the avatar, but I’m “very mature for my age” (trying to say old fashioned but in a polite way) because I’m not super thrilled about new tech on the inside of cars. I do wish my 2008 TL had apple CarPlay for Navi, but I added a BT-45 ACU to play songs over Bluetooth and I think that’s mostly all I wanted / needed. I do wish I had run the microphone for the unit though… Anyways, what I’m trying to say is that modern interiors have too many capacitive buttons and too much stuff is done through screen interaction.
only one of my cars has apple car play and like I mentioned, I do like it but the experience is not without flaws.
Also, seems like bmw and other manufacturers are coming up with speed warning and all sort of things that you must disable each time you start a drive. I also don’t like the bmw seatbelt squeeze when you start off.
I think you did well with the RS6 because I don’t think it has these annoyances but I think the next Gen M5 touring will tick many checkboxes on my annoyances list.

Yes, we are about the same age. I believe all German cars have that seat belt check before you build up speed, and the speed warning you can set/off if you want. However, the auto Start/Stop is the most annoying feature and there is no way to shut it permanently, but at least on the RS6 you turn on the dynamic mode almost everytime and it defeats that feature. And if you ever in comfort mode, the delay is not that bad vs my old Q8.
I didn't mind the seat belt squeeze in my Mercedes. Funny how much it caught people off guard who had never experienced it.
Auto-stop has definitely improved & I did like that Mercedes still had steering control. Both my Fords you can't move the wheel once the engine is off.
The 4 cars [3 Fords & the Mercedes] I've had with it now, It was fairly responsive, most annoying thing about it was when it would have a long delay, then shut down right as you're coming off the brakes to move.

yuck, I didn’t realize all German cars do that now. First one I experienced was our rental 5series wagon diesel over summer vacation in Europe. Now my mom has an X7 which does it too and we also had an X5 rental in Utah for our march ski trip. The start stop in those cars didn’t bother me as much as some older Gen versions of that feature. Luckily, none of my cars have it though.
The speed chimes, my understanding is that you have to always turn them off when you get in the car and it’s buried in a menu.

here in Florida, the start stop struggles 11 out of 12 months when it’s hot out. Come to a stop, ICE engine powers off, 2 seconds later air blown in is 5x more humid, followed by being noticeably warmer, 5 seconds later, ICE fires back up. I’m still waiting on my postcards from all the polar bears I saved with that feature… ungrateful bastards.
as far as steering buttons, I don’t mind them if they are a button not a capacitive.
Also, for paddle shifters. I prefer them mounted to the column, not on the back of the steering.
Yeah, Houston is similar. In my F150, I think the longest I got it to stay off at a light was about 12 seconds.
My Explorer does a lot better & have had it off for over a minute a few times.
Never had a car with column mounted paddles, guess it depends on how often you keep a consistent 'mount' on the wheel, unless the paddles are long enough to cover a broad sweep.
