We dont have either of those... I dont think BMW would sell many M340i Touring if they brought it here... but M3 Touring relatively speaking would have some buyers. Not a lot, but enough for a year or 2 of selling i am guessing.
Financially, it makes no sense, to have to crash test & homologate a US-spec 3er Touring. On an allocated customer-spec order process, they'd likely sell some, just likely not enough to break even.
You can't equate advertised prices of cars in Europe to USD since they include all on road taxes and registration costs.
That's why people freaked out when they saw the new Golf R advertised for the equivalent of $57k there when it's a $44k car here.
If they brought the m340i Touring here, I'd expect it to come in ~$3k more than the sedan, so around $58k to start. I'm sure optioning it to $77k won't be difficult though lol

Nah it probably wont get to 77k... if you dont get M performance parts, you fully loaded M340i Xdrive is about 67-68k... add a 3-5 grand on top of it for touring...
Even tho most of them will not be fully fully loaded... an average M340i touring will probably be around $65-68k.
But still, objectively speaking, it would be a hard sale given at that price point when X3M starts at $70k and most of the essential stuff is standard already.
I probably wont bring it here either if i were BMW.

So minus the VAT (Value Added Tax) of 19%, it would be about $50K. Then you have to ship it to the US. As stated above, an M340i xDrive sedan starts at about $56K (340i xDrive Sedan USA) Then you add sales tax in most states and you're well over $60K. I think that's a tough price point.
Not sure what the motor was but this had a high lift cam'ed out burble sound in the exhaust at idle. With the exception of the wheels, was quite a sleeper.

This one (S402 version) is the rare bird: WRX engine and suspension, STI bits (wheels, exhaust), 6MT. If not I'll probably get a 2015 Audi A4 wagon. Sadly, an MT in those is tough to find.
