V60 vs A4 allroad
I have driven both. We were looking for a more "practical" car to be my wife Cindi's daily driver. The S5 has become increasingly difficult for her to get in and out of due to its ride height and the large seat bolsters on the sport seats. We were looking at sedans when she pointed at an SUV and said "What about something like that?" I told her no SUVs on my watch, but we can look at wagons. The Volvo was a cross country model. It was harder to get in and out of, even for me. The brakes seemed to take forever to stop the car, and the amount of work required to find thing things in the interface was frustrating. Also, as comfortable as the seats looked, they actually felt hard and uncomfortable. The A4 allroad was a much pleasanter driving experience, the interface was much easier to navigate, and IMO looks much better than the Volvo. There is a bit of lag from a stop, and the start/stop thing is kind of annoying to me (it can be manually turned off) but overall it rides and drives nice. That being said it is no S5 in regards to performance. But shelling out an additional 15 to 20K for an A6 allroad was not an option. We bought the Audi A4 allroad 2 weeks ago.
Our new 2020 allroad parked next to the last "new" car we purchased (2008 TL) almost exactly 12 years apart

Nice job. The A4 is a good looking car. Now get the plastic in the wheel arches painted body color and you'll not be confused with us Outback drivers. Ha.

I wish Audi's leased better. The residual and money factor on them is terrible

I was looking at the S5 Sportback before getting the V60, but what took it off the list was the rear seats. They’re quite small, and with a rear facing car seat the front passenger would have been way too close to the dash. Everything else about the car was great! It’s too bad we don’t get an S4 Avant here.

Before I bought the S5, I was almost but certain the A4 allroad was going to be my new vehicle...I never really paid attention to the S5 Sportback so when I saw it, I was so taken by how it looked that I started asking about it and in discussion with the sales guy and how I needed a car seat in the back for my kid, he said just take the demo for the weekend. We installed the kid seat, went around town, even picked up my Mom and had her get in and out...no issues. Sold.
Albeit, I'm ...so, if you're a hulking 6'+ gwai lo...well, I could see maybe why the S5 is too small.

Did the stealership loan you the car for a day or so to test out?

The S4 might actually have been a better fit because I think the rear legroom is slightly better, but I didn't bother trying because I wanted something with a liftgate, not a 3-box sedan. SQ5 would have definitely been better, but if I were in the market for something like that would have been far behind the X3 M40i and GLC43 (in that order).

Not a fan of the wheels .. kind of which the FMIC was a bit more stealthy.
But otherwise ... you don't gotta convince me.

make urs like that... with different wheel and black FMIC
It is a better platform to spend $$ on than your S4
I cant imagine how it feels with performance of B58 and the driving feel of E46 ....

You shut your whore-ish mouth!
For real though .. BMW and boost is heavenly. A much more attainable / realistic goal is boosting an E36 M3 .. S52s can make a gingerly 500whp with just headstuds / tougher headgasket ... on a conservative tune with pump gas.
You still get that excellent chassis / weight distribution too

The B5 doesn't feel nimble / anything like the E46, but it has character .. that's for sure. Any car you've invested hundreds of hours into / quite literally has chunks of my skin / blood in it .. it's not exactly an easy car to get rid of.

Out of all the E55/E63s, that gen is my favorite... The car was so elegant to look at and sounded like a Monster at the same time.
