I'm sure he'll trade the NSX for one by December- it's only August.

Eh, I like RWD and it only snows here few days out of the year. Plus they pretty good about cleaning the roads fairly quickly here. No worries.

NSX is never being sold! I couldnt even think of what i would replace it with. Nothing compares to it within that price range. IMO

Did bmw change the seatbelt/door/etc alert chime for 08? My annoying 'ding' sound is replaced by a much much more annoying sound of someone loudly stroking a harp in this loaner. I found a new 'gong' volume setting in the radio but it did nothing to change it. Anyone know how to turn this off? I only have this car a few more days and it's going to drive me crazy.

Yes they changed it. I don't think it can be turned off, but I could be wrong. I've tried in my '07 with no luck.

I have come to realize that this fear or RWD is winter is unbelievable. With winter tires it is such a non-issue it is unbelievable. My 335 was better than my CL in the snow. Really.
Jesal, the 328 has decent power, wouldn't you agree? I was surprised. i think you finally found the right combo for yourself!

Yea i just dont see the need for awd when 350 days out of the year RWD is way more enjoyable.

The rest of those days, snow tires do just fine. Now i need to figure out if i want to dump the runflat on stock wheels and put snow tires. Only reason i can see why people do it is that they dont want the hassle of swapping wheels. Which i can understand.

But yea, im extremely happy with these two cars. 328i has plenty of power for the street. Edmunds recorded a 0-60 at 6.5 and the 1/4 in 14.6. Not bad at all for a daily. Best part is the car is very refined for my snobby ass. Of course we know im more about handling than speed anyways. I learned my lesson, i will always be a BMW whore. Its hard to drive anything else after you own one.

Damn that's a shame. The seat belt chime already annoys me to death when i have groceries in the passenger seat. This just takes it to a new level. It doesn't make sense to me that you can pick up a 100$ cell phone that lets you change ring tones etc but you spend 50k on a car and you cant shut off or change a chime noise.

I had a friend with a 06 325i and I remember that stupid thing. She hated seatbelts so instead of putting it on we had to wait for it to shut off. For two minutes the car would "ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding." How could they make that sound worse?

Congrats J, but seriously. This car thing is getting out of hand! How many do you own? I remember you have the Mazda 3 and the 335. Now, you have the Mazda 3, 328i and an NSX?

Oy.

I own 3 but drive 2. My mom is driving the Mazda3 now.

Also just sold the 88 E24.

Im also tired of the whole car thing. I went through enough this past few years to finally know what I like/want.

Is the GM tranny in the 328i as sluggish as some people make it out to be vs the ZF tranny in the 335i?

Also how's the G35's auto compare to the 328 and 335i in shift speed and refinement.

The 08 G35 I drove had one of the smoothest shifting autos that i have driven. The paddles were fun and the auto almost seems to blip the throttle when i downshifted.

I hear the auto 335i does that as well. That auto is very quick shifting from the seat time that i had. But i didnt beat on it like i did on the G35.

328i doesnt seem all that sluggish to me. Its not as smooth as the G35 though but not sluggish like a TL.

Oops, that was suppose to say TSX.

I actually took weeks and test drove a ton of cars. I just didnt make threads about it, so the 328i wasnt really an impluse. As i know some of you are thinking.

I know. :/ My camera sets it off. You could buy one of those fake seatbelt clip things, the kind that is just the end of the belt and clips in so the car thinks the belt is clipped. I dunno. My chime is annoying but I just tune it out. The old one (pre 2007) and new one (2009+) are both pretty terrible.

I've had a customer cut the wires to the seatbelt to get the gong to go away for the drivers seat. I just stood there in disbelief as the customer was explaining what they did.
The best was a 6 series where the audio shop wired the stereo into the car in such a way that when the gong went off, it played through the after market stereo at a deafening volume.

As for the gong volume, it cannot be changed. There is no reason for it to be going off really. If you have stuff in the passenger seat heavy enough to trip the seat occupancy detector, just buckle the passenger seat belt.

Then why is there a gong volume adjustment that doesn't do anything? And the chime keeps going off in my loaner because it's low on windshield washer fluid. I'll have to remember to buckle in my groceries

FWIW, Jesal's 328 and my 335 seem to shift similarly. Both 2008s but different trannys...

I'm curious to see how his is after 3k or 5k miles or so. My guess is that it will as smooth as Jesal's freshly shaved back

All 3 series tail lights are LEDs, the celis kind (long strips), but the brake lights are not LEDs. Jesal switched to blacklines, which gets rid of the red part of the tail light on the top right/left.

Not all 3 series tail lights, where the red strip is, are LEDs. Only the coupes are. The LCI E90 will get LEDs.

I ask if it's LEDs because they have the aftermarket blacklines that do have LEDs.

The blacklines really do make the rear of the sedan so much nicer. Especially on the BSM or JB.
