Help, mom's IS250 problems
Hi guys,
So, my mom leased her 2008 Lexus IS250 2 years ago. This morning she called me and said that when her car stopped at a signal, the car started to vibrate and VSA & CEL came on. She shut the car off, restarted it, and the VSA & CEL lights stayed on.
What would be the problem of this? Is it something that can be covered by warranty? I know I should take the car to the dealership, but I can only do it tomorrow, so I'm just trying to get some help from fellow AZiners.
The car has almost 20k miles on it.
Thanks guys in advance.

so my mom took it to the close shell gas station and ask the service center worker to check out the car for her.. he just turned the car on and went away.
what kinda magic shit is this?

Just because it's within the warranty period, it doesn't mean every problem is covered. It could very well be an operator mistake such as pouring coolant in the oil, wrong grade of gas, etc.
JS - the code should still be stored. Have AutoZone or a place similar (or even the dealership since it's a lease and under warranty) pull it and go from there.
I had a freak MIL occurrence once. It was a misfire on all cylinders. Never happened again. So it could've been a fluke. But you never know until you pull that code to see what you are dealing with.

The car is under warranty and Toyota has had a million problems in the last year with just about every car they make.
I would definitely take it in and get a loaner from them. Roadside assistance towing FTW

I'll definitely take it to a shop this weekend to see what had really happened. I was just so worried this morning because it was my mom's car. She freaked out too..
Cool. Good to know. I'll update once I get the results this weekend.

Like I said in the first post, I know it's best to take it to the dealership, and I'm going to take it there anyway this weekend. But the car was vibrating and shit, so I didn't want to tell her to drive it, the closest dealership is about 10 miles away. She could have towed it, but we all have to work today, it's monday. So, my dad dropped her off, and the car is at home garaged.
That's why I came here to ask question to see if It's a common problem with IS250.
I knew some of you guys would just tell me to "just take it to the dealership".
Yeah, I know.

JS, I've had weird things happen with my Type S. Last week, I got in the car at lunchtime and every single radio preset was gone! Every channel was set to channel #1....FM, AM, XM-everything.
I called the dealership-they had never heard of such a thing.
I got back in the car to drive home from work and everything was OK. Go figure-I can't tell you what happened or why.....

bring the car in, it may be carbon buildup on the intake and exhaust. i notice a rough idle and almost stall out recently then it went away. now after looking on the lexus forums carbon build up for the is250 could be the major cause for this. its free under warantee and the dealer has to do a full engine cleaning.
