Both cars command respect, if I was in a position to buy one (maybe in the next life? ) I think I'd be leaning towards something like the above...

Sex on wheels, but would still put my [non-existent] $$ on a Zonda.
But, would also buy a Koenigsegg over the Pagani.

I mean, $ no object. It's a 57 300SL Gullwing, hands down #1 purchase.

Probably far less than the $2M minimum that the Gullwing will run.

Give it another 30-40 years of age, I'm sure it'll cut into that gap.

I am more realistic....

I just want a brand new AP2 V1 S2000 at the original MSRP in 2023.

Wait,,.. that is not really realistic either.

Suzuka would be #1 for me, so at least we're not competing with each other.

I'm betting that yellow S2k is pretty stiffly sprung & not getting much deflection to put the tire in contact with the fender.

No we are not. For AP2V1, GPW FTW always and forever!!!

AP2 V2 it is a toss up between GPW and LBP

Funny i had both of those colors and i sold them and now i want them... #human

I think he’s done well with it. Springs and shocks likely setup accordingly.

I am sure he knows his stuff and he even has widened front fender. (still not wide enough)

I had a square setup 255 on a 8.5 width x4 OEM Rear before and very neutral handling but damn the sound from going over every little bump hurted my soul.

Had buddy Club N+ Coils and Buddy club Pro Spec 3? single exhaust... The car handled GREAT!!! but the rubbing, ultra stiff suspension and ear bleeding exhaust only lasted about 3 months before i had to get rid of all of them
Car was so stiff, it had almost no suspension travels. can't even get onto some of the drive way without 1 of the rear wheel gets air.

smurf blue without the full blue interior is AP2 V2.

Also one of the more rare and desirable configs.

I'm far from a S2k pro, so I wasn't sure which AP2 was Suzuka exterior with the blue/black interior.

no config is more desirable than GPW with Red/black interior.

Well, I'm pivoting a lot in the new car search. I've seriously considered a Mustang again, looked at the M3 again, and even highly considered the RS3 with some willingness to not have a manual. But the RS3 is almost M3 price territory and it's even harder to find than a Golf R. But maybe a dealer would build one for me. Also configured an S3 which is much more obtainable, but my very last option would be to give up the manual.

But now I'm looking at the Civic Type R again. There's quite a few available. I just reached out to three local dealers and each of them have one in the showroom unsold. They have it at MSRP. Not sure if they are going to secretively add a dealer markup, but they don't seem to be moving right away and they are not presold. The one thing that still bugs me is having FWD again and no heated front seats or moonroof. But I thought, what if I can get in one now and maybe down the road in the next year or two sell it if I can get my hands on a AWD manual like a Golf R. The CTR should hold its value.

A local dealer responded to my inquiry right away. They have a Championship White on the showroom floor. They asked if I have test drove one yet and I haven't, and if they are willing to let me test drive it, I will do that right away. We would have two white Hondas in our garage... My first color choice would be the Sonic Gray Pearl. There is one available in Iowa and one in Indiana but I'll try to do a test drive locally here first.

Every review online raves about the CTR. Is there anything I'm missing here? Why aren't these selling like hot cakes right now? Or is Honda doing a good job pumping them out? The CTR is made in Japan, right?

^ CTR is made in Japan. Although FWD as you stated, it'd be a really fun to drive and decent car purchase. Low depreciation and low cost of ownership, don't know about insurance (tell them it's a Civic )

CTR doesn't seem like a bad choice.
Ups the price, but hold out for the Integra S?

Why aren't they selling? Because it's a nearly $50k Honda Civic. The number of people who want them relative to how much they cost is very low. Also, you have to be a huge car guy and Honda fanatic to want to drop Audi S3 or M240i money on a Civic. On top of that, the people who typically want one of them are younger people...who generally aren't paying cash for one...and interest rates are super high right now. All a perfect storm of reasons a car like that isn't selling.

This is a lot of why a lot of performance cars are plummeting in value right now. I've seen a lot of GT350's now in the $40k-$45k range when 6 months ago they would have been $60k. Porsches are coming down rapidly as are AMG's and M cars as well.

They probably aren't selling a ton because of interest rates + dealer greed.

If i were in a market for a 50k sports car (CTR sort of qualifies), why would i get a CTR over a Supra?

But i do really like the new CTR tho... just not at those prices...

Going to the dealer to buy my wife's CX30 this weekend (Lease ended)

The dealer wanted 8.29% APR

Checked around, the lowest i got was 7.29% from chase and 7.99 from Capital one. her credit score is 867.

She refuses to pay it off at once (she has the $$) but instead we are just gonna pay cash for 80% of the car and finance rest of the 20% at 8.29% for 36 months. The 1% difference is not really bothering her since the financed amount is so low.

But damn wtf is up with the rate at what point does it become a crime?

That sucks.
I got my Exploder at 4.49% through a Houston local credit union.
Wish I'd known about them when we bought the Expedition. I think we're mid 5s on it, and that same credit union was in the 6s when I got mine. Same CU I did my F150 & Mercedes with, and the rates were 1.99 & 2.99 respectively, back then (2016/2018).

4 doors, back seats, manual trans, and overall practicality seem like great reasons to get a CTR over a Supra.

I also just checked with Chase and it was around 7%. Damn. That's certainly one reason why these cars aren't moving.

I really don't want to wait until next winter. My winter tire set is getting real low (too low, really) so I would rather buy a new set for a new car instead of the ST. The other problem is my summer tires are getting low as well... so you know, "needed new tires so bought a new car" type deal. Brakes are another item that is coming up. Point being, if I want to keep driving the ST beyond this year, I'll need to put money into it and if I do that I am better off driving it until the wheels fall off and wait for rates to come down and more buying options to come about.

Supra won't work for me as I need a backseat. I'm not sure on the Integra Type S. Still no full details for a summer 2023 launch? I guess I can contact some local Acura dealers and ask. Maybe get one built at MSRP and not have to deal with markups and availability...

If you can get into a CTR in the color you want for MSRP I'd do it. Winter tires and FWD is totally fine as you know and it's a fantastic car. I'm assuming you're not out driving in blizzard conditions or through deep snow off road areas or anything like that anyway.

GR Corolla? Some ppl locally have gotten theirs at MSRP...

New car APR is lower... i was quoted 4.99%. Still high compare to what we are used to... well blame the feds.

As long as you can keep the financed amount reasonable, i think 4.99% is OK
