I have had plenty of seat time in all recent gen S class and 7 series.... while big, i have not experienced this level of floatiness, i mean comfort in any of them.

This 7 series also has the M sport and adaptive air suspension... even at the stiffest setting, it is like 50% softer than my car in Eco pro mode... it is scary at times TBH
Really reminds me of the old Toyota days.

I haven't been in an S since my grandmother's 2014/15. Definitely the most comfortable thing I've ever driven, and whisper quiet at 100mph.
Definitely didn't feel floaty, but I only had a brief drive in both. Much softer than my sport pkg C300

Front bumper will need to be replaced.

Obviously, i am not happy but they will throw in the AC service for free (My AC starts to smell like shit). But i am more mad about the fact that i have to drive the stupid 7 series for another week.... #firstworldproblem
Seriously? Next time they need to give you a 2GC because of all your whining.

To be honest, at this point, i actually dont mind. I have been driving this thing for 11 days already. Still have it.
I would take anything less floaty at this point.

The weight transfer when i brake due to the soft suspension is scary. That is one of the main reasons i hated the older Toyota so much.

Been in SoCal for 1.5 days now and have seen 3 F150 Lightnings, 4 R1T's, 1 R1S, and more Kia/Hyundai/Genesis EV's than I can count.

Definitely doesn't sound right, to me.
8 S-class, 1 C and a pre-E sedan & none were 'floaty' with excessive pitch/roll. Can't imagine a flagship BMW being compared to a Toyota for ride quality.

Must be the areas you are visiting. I have yet seen any Lightning. But plenty of Korean EVs and of course Tesla.

Some ppl like that kind of ride quality. It is comfortable.

But for someone like me who is used to the stiff suspension of M340 and Mazda, it is scary.

It has air suspension, i suspect the tuning is on the soft side to cater to the u know.. 7 series buyers.

Can't imagine the average 7 buyer is much different than an S buyer. Haven't been in an S newer than 2015 though.

The BMW in recent years is not the same BMW from before.
It is almost as if BMW and Mercedes switched places (on some cars)

For example my first 2013 F30 335i with M sport suspension, that thing was so soft and floaty that i got rid of it after 1 year. The F36 and F30 LCI were better but still drives nothing like the old BMW (E46, E90).
ppl complained so much that BMW made G20 much much better.
But they are still staying true with their M cars - very hardcore and stiff.

Irvine area, orange county.

I've seen 2-3 back home in MN as well but trucks are incredibly popular there.

https://www.carscoops.com/2022/09/no...arolina-squat/

In order to curb the spread of the infamous “Carolina Squat”, North Carolina recently enacted a bill that forbids owners from doing it to their vehicle. Now, state police has been spotted actively measuring vehicles to check for illegal amounts of squat, with a series of photos shared to Facebook showing a North Carolina police officer taking a tape measure to a squatted Toyota 4Runner.

For those unfamiliar, the Carolina Squat refers to an unusual modification in which owners will modify their suspension so the front of their vehicle, typically a truck or SUV, rides significantly higher than the rear. The trend is often accompanied by grossly oversized wheels, resulting in a very distinctive (albeit unattractive) look.

More important than looks, though, is the concern of safety. First off, with such a heavily canted vehicle, the handling is borderline ruined, reducing the likelihood of successful evasive maneuvers in emergency situations. Additionally, pointing the front of the vehicle so high up significantly reduces visibility, which could lead to accidents if the driver can’t see the cars in front of them. And finally, if an accident does occur, whatever the squatted vehicle hits will get wedged underneath it instead of striking the front or rolling off the top.

A
ccording to North Carolina’s new bill, the front of any vehicle can be no higher than four inches above the rear. More specifically, an offense will be incurred “if the suspension, frame, or chassis, the height of the front fender is 4 or more inches greater than the height of the rear fender.” And they’re not messing around with this rule, either. Drivers found with an illegal amount of squat on their vehicle run the risk of losing their license for a year.

In the case of this 4Runner, though, just by looking of it, we’d say the measuring was more of a formality than anything else.

Good. I wish more states would crack down on it. I'm tired of being blinded by shitheads in their half lifted shitboxes with their lights pointed at the tops of trees.

Chevy Silverado... i dont know what is up with them... almost all the ones i have seen recently are Silverado with what seemed to be like 30" wheels on 25 series tires. The rotors are so tiny that they almost dont exist.

Anyone take their car to a dealer lately? 2 days to get a diagnosis and nothing. I pulled the car and made an appt with a local shop. I have an ext warranty so cost isn't a factor but

The Expedition we just bought had to be 'finished'. Ended up having the shocks, brakes, wipers, air filter & cabin filter replaced, and had the PCM reflashed for the cam phaser issue.
Took 4 days.

Have an appt for Nov to have the cam phasers replaced, soonest they could get me in and provide a loaner.

Got an email recently saying the dealer I had the car serviced at previously wanted to buy the car from me, and to bring it in to get an offer. I was like sure why not. Took it in, and it turned into them diagnosing everything that could potentially need repair on the car (even if it wasn't REQUIRED) and handing me a bill, like, we can't buy it from you unless you get all this stuff fixed. I was like uhhhh, thanks for letting me know to sell it privately. I felt a very scammy vibe from the whole thing.

Usually they do the whole inspection thing and ask you if you want to trade it rather than get all this shit fixed. Surprised they took that route lol.

Yeah they're still thirsty for inventory. They asked if I wanted an appraisal too and I was like nah. My buddy told me that auction prices have started decreasing so hopefully the retail market follows.

Yeah they did ask if I wanna trade and I didn't want to so. The thing that sucked is just that scammy vibe I was feeling - it's like everything that people classically hate about car dealerships has been multiplied.

My good deed for the week, neighbor's friend who's a older lady with little savings whose 05 Pilot alternator failed (seized rotor/field). So neighbor bought the alternator/serpentine belt and I replaced them. Neighbor gifted me a bottle of Patron even though I insisted on no reward.

Begrudgingly car shopping and found a Volvo (never thought I'd write that out) that I really liked. Dealer confirmed it was actually in stock and MSRP. Get there and was going to buy it and dealer was like well we have it at MSRP but we marked it up 20k it just isn't on our sticker. Annoying. The markup wasn't unexpected but it didn't sit right that it wasn't disclosed until I'd already made a decision. At least I'm not in a hurry and can order one and have no problem waiting 6 months.
