Curious, do they still make pickup trucks with bench front seats? I'd love to seat 6 and have a cab to lug shit.

Just have to go with a lower trim, usually. And it sometimes limits some of your available options.
I don't know if you can get a Lariat F150 or LTX Silverado with a front bench.

One on the right for me
Not worthy of a new car thread because its used and old but I picked up a 98 F150 the other day. Have a few home projects planned and it seemed easier to just buy a pickup rather than deal with renting and being stuck with the availability of pickups, etc.

Random spotting of the day.
Was picking my boss up at the airport last week & spotted a light blue Challenger convertible.
Had to look it up, as I'd never heard of it. Turns out they're an aftermarket conversion. Looked decently well done in passing.

Challenger is such a long coupe. Was it a huge ass convertible top?
Other thought - I saw a new Traverse today. I'm not much of a Chevy fan but I liked the styling a lot. Reminded me of a Jeep.

Looks great as a convertible!

Definitely threw me off, as I'd never seen one before. Had to think while I was driving if it was a factory option that I was unaware of.

Not much different in size to the Camaro & Mustang, but maybe a bit boxier. The Challenger seems to have a more airy cabin than it's GM/Ford cousins.

I thought the rear seat had more room than the Mustang and camaro.

Never been in one, just assuming. The Camaro back seat is only for small children or people without legs [/Clarkson]

Question:
The boss is in the process of buying her leased CX30 for obvious reasons.
One of the things that i want to help her to avoid is the sun oxidization on her headlight. Instead of buffing sanding when the oxidation is on the headlight, i am trying to do some preventative measures.
I was thinking about a clear bra for the headlight, but worried that it might melt onto the headlight forever?
Will ceramic coating help without the bra?

LED headlights, so I would be less worried about the bra melting to the headlight plastic.
Can't say I've really noticed newer cars with the bad yellowing/pitting/fading in the headlights like older traditional bulb housings.

Those usually happens starting year 4 or 5 base on my previous experience and she is on year 3.
And she does not park inside the garage + We are in LA.
It will definitely happen if we, i mean I dont do something about it.

I'd take a look at some 4-6 year old Mazda3 & CX5, and see how the headlights are holding up with age.
Much lower interior heat applied over their lifetime, maybe the hazing will be less of an issue there.

1. I use the Mothers Headlight Restoration kit. The results are pretty good, but you will redo the process every few months, but only the final buff then the polish.
2. Rock Auto. Just buy new headlight units.

I am more worried about the sun baking the film into the plastic. Not the bulb itself since it does not really get hot.

I wouldn't buy film from Amazon, get some from a PPF shop. My comment doesn't hold true for whatever shitty products you may come across on Amazon lol. Get some of the good 3M stuff from a PPF/wrap shop, they might even be able to cut the pattern for you as well.

I used to do those tinted film on my cars decade ago when i used to be cool...
I can do it myself. They do have 3M on amazon, that is what i was planning to buy.
But who knows, knowing how lazy i have become, i might just take it to a shop and let them do it.

If you really want to overdue it, PPF the headlights and then ceramic coat them.

Other thing to consider is that modern headlights aren't the same crap as what they had before. Knowledge of materials and how they behave over time has improved immensely so it might not be worth the effort to do anything at all with these headlights unless you're driving in sand storms or construction zones constantly. I can't think of any modern cars that have faded or cloudy headlights anymore even with a ton of miles on them.

Not suggesting you don't DIY it, just make sure you get quality materials to do it right. Some of the shit they sell on Amazon is just that.

Not sure what a DEPO headlight for a CX30 would be like. Not cheap, for sure.

Discoloration is due to UV exposure. Modern plastics and clear coats can definitely resist that pretty well. Getting sand blasted is a whole different story.

Considering just how godly fast 911 Turbo S is 1/4 mile and the type of cars it has beaten, a M3 with only a basic tune is more shocking to me.

Geico must pay a Missouri woman $5.2 million after she caught HPV from unprotected sex with her then-boyfriend in his insured automobile, a state appellate court ruled.
In an opinion published Tuesday, the Court of Appeals for the Western District of Missouri affirmed the multimillion-dollar payout against the insurance company, best known for its ubiquitous TV ads that frequently feature a talking gecko.
The woman — identified in court papers only as "M.O." — said that she "engaged in unprotected sexual activities in Insured's vehicle" in November and December 2017 and that he "negligently caused or contributed to" her catching the human papillomavirus (HPV), a common sexually transmitted infection, court papers said.
After Geico turned down her claim, M.O. took the matter to an arbitrator, who found in her favor before a court affirmed the $5.2 million judgment, the appeals court said.
Geico appealed, claiming it never had a chance to contest the claim.
"But GEICO did have the opportunity to participate and defend its interests — including the ability to challenge liability and damages — by entering a defense of Insured," according to the appeals court opinion, which put the word "did" in bold italics.
The insurance company has "no right to relitigate those issues" now in appeal, the court said.
The company, based in Chevy Chase, Maryland, said in a statement Thursday that the case will be ultimately settled in federal court.
In federal court papers, Geico has said it never had any responsibility to defend the boyfriend, identified only as "M.B.," because it should be on the hook only for damages coming "out of the ownership, maintenance or use of the ... auto.”
"M.O.’s alleged damages have no nexus to the ownership, maintenance, or covered use of the 2014 Hyundai Genesis," the company said in a federal court filing last year.
"In other words, the vehicle’s covered use did not cause M.O.’s alleged injuries; instead, her injuries arose from an intervening cause — namely, her failure to prevent transmission of STDs by having unprotected sex."

Window tint(s)
What's your preferred brand? Looking at getting the Bu tinted before Houston hits triple digits (soon).
Couple mobile tint shops that should be able to do it here at my office.
1 uses Johnson Window Film
1 uses 3M & BlackMax films
Haven't had to deal with window tint in probably 15 years & tired of getting into a roasting car after work.

I've used Llumar in the past and it has been excellent. Zero issues with the tint on the ST now almost ten years later.

There's only a handful of manufacturers that supply companies with films. Most of the time you're paying for the name.
I had Llumar on the Golf and now have SolarFX on the 3 - both were ceramics and they both performed the same, to the best of my knowledge. Just get whichever is in budget, has the best warranty, and whichever installer is best (the majority of issues are down to the installer, not the film).

Thanks, one of the 2 responded, but I'd have to drop the car off there. Not impossible, but a bit more of a pain.
2nd never responded
Got a referral to a third, but they're even further from my house, and new house. But, close to my wife's office, so I could maybe drop the car there, have her pick me up, and take my FIL's motorcycle for a couple days.
Windshield tint? Worth it, and in what %?

I did the Golf windshield, with 70%. It's light enough that you can't tell it's there, and if it's a good ceramic, it will reject some heat. I noticed a difference in the Golf.
