to me; it's the value proposition and the wonky ZF8, although revised for 2018.
Doom has done his research and said the value is there compared to Ze Germanz. but there is a reason for it. the ZF8 isnt programmed the best. driver's report dangerous lagging conditions...
the '18 accord is also cheaper in the used market than the TLX.
so, you can spend less money to get a slightly better car.
although looks are subjective, I feel the TLX feels a little more upscale...and in Miami, I know thats a thing..gotta be parking lot pimpin

If parking lot pimping is a real concern, just get a 330i lease special.
Reasons the Accord is better than the TLX:
- transmission
- runs on 87
- 25% more horsepower
- 50% more torque
- weighs less
- much larger back seat
- larger trunk
- overall better value for the money
The interiors feel the same, although I prefer the Accord.

Bruh, it wouldn't be the internet without posting baseless opinions and then scattering when called out on it.

Also all the driver assist aids are standard on the Accord. Also, it can be had in MT if you should so desire.

Same here was wondering how the T50 will do on Vmax tests.
Though I don't know if the philosophy of the car would lend itself to beat Vmax NA records since it is pure driver's car with no shoe-horned/tunnel-vision on one metric. But would be awesome if it did since it is a great car.
IIRC, light weight does not neccesarily mean high vmax and we'll see if the HP is enough along with the aero for the car at high speeds....should definitly be over 210-220mph?....

Accord is faster, better looking with bigger wheels and better hardware and newer and more tech.
I mean other than the name Acura, Accord is better in every single way IMO.... but we are talking about Acura, you can't even brag about the badge much.
If you get the 4 cylinder TLX, Accord will blow the door off the TLX, if you get the V6 TLX, you will have to deal with the ZF9....

Truthfully I was shopping '17 TLX's due to its pricing in the mid teens (at the time I started shopping). Locally I had seen '17 TLX's going for the same price as a comparable '17 Accord and cheaper than '18 Accords due to the newer model style. I've been an Accord guy since 2000 with my V6 coupe so I'm very comfortable with them as they have a nice balance of performance, practicality, and style. Plus I didn't mind the 4 banger in the TLX as the K24 is a great engine IMO. As stated, I drive A LOT so I don't care about HP. Honestly, I'm perfectly happy with a zippy 4 banger as most of my driving is city anyways. Sure I wanted some style as well but I really don't mind a nicely loaded Accord. I could opt for a Euro but I'm not a fan of the part/maintenance cost. The girlfriend has a Benz for me to get my Euro kicks from anyways

Would be good to drive both cars back to back and see what he thinks....the 6MT Accord could also help with depreciation as that car could have some minor enthusiast following and lessen the hit on depreciation should you decide to sell it 2-4 years down the road....(if you can even find a new MT accord now days...(

I appreciate the concern, it is AZ after all. I'll never meet 99% of these knuckleheads anyways

As stated, I can't lease given my commute but I appreciate the suggestion. I did look at some used 2017 330i's. Are you saying the '18 Accord with the turbo runs on 87 and the TLX does not?
Yeah def wouldn't do MT in Miami. Maybe if I didn't work a 9-5. Again, I don't care for racing as the nearest track is 1.5 hours away and I ain't doing the street thing (been there, done that).
It wasn't so much the badge as opposed to the factors I've been mentioning regarding value since the TLX base already has several features the comparable Accords didn't have. I really wasn't considering the V6 TLX and given I had the J30 Accord that went through a transmission, I definitely wouldn't entertain another V6 Honda with a similar transmission issue.

There are other features that Accord has that you wont find in TLX Base just keep that in mind also.

The MY18+ Accords are overall better cars than the TLX of similar vintage. You don't have to worry about the V6 with crap transmissions on the MY18+ Accords, the V6 will 1000% not be an issue with those years.
If you're just sold on the TLX then there's not much we can do to sway you but go give the Accord a shot. It drives better, it's faster, more room, more up to date features, doesn't have the stupid dual screen setup, runs on 87 (TLX is 91+ recommended), better fuel economy, the 10AT from Honda is really quite good. Basically, there's a reason the TLX costs just as much or less than the Accord of similar age.

i missed the fact you were going for the k24.
which means you dont have to deal with the awful tranny programming.
by going with 4 cylinder, I doubt you care about how quick or fast either of the cars are.
tough choice!
especially if they're priced similarly.

TLX base just look so generic...
if anything 2018 looks better.
But i would spend about 2000 more and get a CPO Accord 2.0T Touring.... it looks better, has more features, faster and 10AT is great!

Acura recommends at least 91 octane on the TLX (actually, I think all of their cars are recommended for 91) while Honda recommends 87 or better for the 2.0T Accord.

Damn that fucker hung with the CTR. I'm definitely not set on any car. This purchase won't occur until next year anyways but I'll certainly dual track the TLX and Accord markets. If I do go Accord, the 18 will be very tempting considering the style and that 2.0T sure does seem sexy. It'd be nice to be fast but then I'll want to mod that bitch.

been recently wanting an older-ish 4runnner. specifically a 2001-2003. Dont really enjoy the 2004-2009's, but then got to looking at the Lexus equivalents (the Landcruiser Prado) or the GX470 and I totally dig it!!
I can find 2004-2006's for about $6k all day.
My main reasons for wanting one is to become a jeepbro. I really really want to "overland" it out.
Such capable offroaders!
if I keep looking and researching, i'll probably drop $6k on one by the end of the year. lol

That would be sweet, Justn. Those Lexus GXs are almost double that here.
I've been looking at 4Runners up here as well. My buddy had a 3rd Gen 5MT that was more mud than silver during his ownership.

yeah they can get quiet expensive if looking at a pristine model. Since I'm going to end up throwing bunch of aftermarket parts at it...I dont mind one that has been neglected, as I know the Toyota pedigree/reliability will hold up. I dont mind a 200k mile example.
I really enjoy the 3rd gen 4runner!! If I dont go through with the GX470, I'll probably end up with the 2001-2003 3rd gen 4runner and "overland" that out.

I love that era GX.
Do they suffer from the same frame issues that plagued the Tacomas of similar years?

I think the frame rot was specific to the Tacos.
And 200k on a GX is a pretty good place to be if you're buying some rich douchebag's wife's car. If it's been previously "loved" by an offroadbro, I'd maybe take pause... But for a stock-stock 200k example it's a beautiful thing!

Had considered the GX, the main knock about it is the terrible fuel economy. Really cushy for overlanding though!
100-series Land Cruiser is another very solid option if you want comfort.

Have driven a few GX of that gen, very comfy on the road & had amazing traction in Houston monsoon season.
My parents had 2 3rd gen T4Rs. '03 SR5 V6 4ws & '05 Limited V8 4wd
Between the 2, I liked how the V6 drove over the V8. But the V8 had much more low-end grunt.

not considerably concerned with fuel mileage, as it will be a second vehicle. still have the TL for daily driver duties. could even trailer the TL to a shop instead of ordering a tow. lol
yes, mainly was thinking of getting a higher off the ground vehicle for "monsoon season" in Houston. that is the primary reason.
secondary reason would be to modify it! as a project, 2nd vehicle. jeepbro.

GX requires premium, yes? Something to keep in mind over the T4R. Not a big deal right now with gas prices being low.
Something to keep in mind if overlanding, too, though I'm sure there's no lack of at least 91 at just about any fuel stop.

I would feel more comfortable bumping a tree in a 4Runner than a Lexus. But both are pretty sweet, and I bet the Lexus interior is by far the nicer place to be.

The GX calls out premium fuel, but it'll basically run on chocolate milk. It's just a dumb lumpy Toyota motor.

it's the allure of the "overland" look that draws me in.
kinda like jeepbros and their wranglers

Same here. I'd like to get/build a rig to do some mild trails/overland runs out around Austin/Fredericksburg/Hill Country.
Was thinking diesel JGC, but after reading, it seems the post 'dieselgate' updates made them not so great.

Traffic annoyances with a MT car? I can see that. At least it's flat in FL so no need to worry about hills and whatnot I would imagine. I recently picked up a MT car (drove AT all my life...I know...) and it definitely gets a bit annoying when you're stuck in stop and go traffic.
