Yummy, read this and learn. It corners like Elise and Cayman.

But they all said they liked driving the BRZ more on the track despite it being slower.
The GTI might have been the standard at one point but the platform is at least nine years old. I'll be curious to see what the next one does.
The Toyobarus are, at the least, consistently lauded as drivers' cars which is not usually said about FF hatchbacks

I think the sunroof is something other people are complaining about. But there have been some really boneheaded things like someone putting an un-dyed interior trim panel (was uncolored plastic) even though the rest of the car is black, people dropping bolts and just finishing the car, etc.
So while they might not be widespread, it doesn't make me feel like that plant has full shifts of conscientious workers.

The Focus ST was about 1 second per lap faster at Willow Springs than the BRZ but really that's probably because the Focus had 50-60hp and about 100lb-ft of torque on the Toyobaru.

Don't care about seconds being slower on tracks to other cars. As a car enthusiast, the driving feels trumps anything else.
I'm so much more satisfied driving this everyday than my modified MS3. And that's something. I can always modify the car to be a track monster just like Lotus if I really wanted.
But meh. You call 86s a RWD tC. Your points will never work in my head.

And if it were FWD instead of RWD, I think it'd be $20K. When the prototype came out, I fell in love with it. I wanted one badly.
But by the time they made all the changes my tastes had changed. I don't have time to drive two hours away to find twisty roads. I want something solid, quick in a straight line with some competence in a bend, and nice inside. If that's a wagon, I'm fine with that.
It doesn't mean I think you're wrong for liking your car

If the car was 20k and FWD, it would not have a big following as it does. IMO
Wait for the next jetta to come out and swoop in for the 1.8t that will be offered. Car is a hoot to drive for the money

It just pisses me off that they charge $28K for that car. From all accounts, it's a great car to drive. But it's not particularly fast. It's not particularly nice inside. It's not particularly good looking, either.

I do want to point out that, to me the pricing point on these cars are pretty fair.
MX5 with options can go up to $32k. S2K was certainly +$32k when it was sold new.
Yes, BRZ adds couple goodies inside and out for couple more thousands bucks. A FRS is a $25k. My BRZ had a sticker of $29k but got it for $26k.
Its power is adequate to begin with for a 2800 lbs car. Over +20 FI kits available on the market after a year and half of car's introduction to make the car a monster. It looks sexy to me from the outside. The inside looks sporty with a lot of leather inserts everywhere. The alcantara + leather seats are fairly comfy and hard enough to hold you in place pulling huge G's running on a set of Prius tires.
In short, you are getting old.

At this point I've gotten over the Toyobaru pricing. It fills a unique niche... where else can you get a sporty, compact hardtop RWD car in that price range?
The reliability is what concerns me.

If you go with the Scion, you're stuck paying what they list it at. But many Subaru dealers are selling them at $3-4k under MSRP. So at $24k, do you still think its too much?
I'm a little annoyed at myself for not waiting to pick up a BRZ after they had been out for a while, despite that doofy front bumper.
The biggest achilles heel in this car is the gearing. While a 4.10 FD ratio seems short, the tranny cogs more than make up for it . With a 4.55 FD, your revs at any given speed would raise ~10%, which isn't a whole lot more over stock at cruising speeds. I find myself staying in 5th gear on the highways unless Im doing 75-80 because the car is gutless. Everyone that is running 4.55 gears say that 6th now feels like 5th.
But, there's never anything wrong with a wagon with some power
THIS.

Well, after seeing JS' thread, I've been wondering a bit more about the BRZ lately & decided to see just what they're running for. After doing some rough estimating, it appears the Acura still has just enough value that I could trade it in & the remaining difference could allow me to get a new Premium model without my payments actually increasing at all (possibly decreasing).
Thanks a lot JS.
Would consider used, but I've only found one & they want the as much as one brand new.

Just go drive it. It really is a modern miata with nicer uinterior.
Let me know if you need anything. On the 86 forum, people are still getting good amount of discount on BRZs.

I was told to by 1 salesman that if I really wanted an idea of how it drove, to test drive the FR-S as it shouldn't be all that different, & the features are what drive the Subaru's price.
Is there any talk of a STI or tS-like model coming soon, though? Would kind of irk the hell out of me to buy one if a quicker one is coming.

This is what I did.
CC every local Subaru dealer in the same email. Tell them to give you the best price on the car that wanted. I'm ready to buy today, and I would go to the dealer that gives me the best price. Tell them that I want to test drive the car as well.
They would work with you. No need to haggle around at the dealership. The internet sales department works really well at the dealers these days. Don't even answer the phone calls. I ignored every phone call from the dealers. Just work through emails and get it done.

Not sure. The one on the right? Saw couple at the dealership.
By the way, email this dealership in CO. They sell cars nationwide. Their delivery fee is pretty damn low too. They quoted me the lowest price. A lot of ft86 forum members buy from them.

That's the one. The WR Blue Pearl is nice, but I'd like my next car to be a dark blue & the Galaxy looks really nice, imo.

I believe they dropped that color for 2014 I was actually going to get that color, but went with Dark Grey Metallic instead (which I love though).
