General Car Talk Discussion Thread
I saw a little of the new C7 vette last night. Was sitting outside in a restaurant and this car right outside started next to me. The sound of the car caught my attention. It was dark so all I was able to see were the headlights. At first I thought it was a viper
When it finally went out and I saw the tails I knew it was a C7. All I can say is, it sounds nice haha.

Give me a break. A Catted X-pipe is $400. Long Tube Headers alone on a C6 are a 2K+ Job.Edit: AND you can sell your non-catted one for a few hundred bucks. Any idiot at a dealer can swap that out and save "loosing thousands on the modded Vette." That starting price was even low...

That's why it's going to auction. My work knows it won't be able to sell the car without letting a potential buyer know it doesn't have any cats on it & lose the sale, and they're not going to spend the money to fix it, either.
It doesn't really matter to them anyway, since they likely paid somewhere around $22-23K for the car to begin with & will make all their money back & change.
It's not that hard to move a C6, no less a tastefully modded one, in Texas. I don't see why your dealer would send it to action unless the carfax is more beat up than Joe Lewis. A modded C6 with quality upgrades should not bring down the sticker much from OEM, if at all. Some people may even try to tack on a few bucks....
Neglected/uncared for Vette's or Vette's with problems can be huge money pits....

99% of our client base will not buy a car from our dealer if the car will potentially fail an inspection. It may possibly even be illegal for us to do so. And there's no point in us spending the money to replace them because the car still has other modifications our client demographic does not look for. Other than that, it's a clean car with no issues or damage.
And modified cars will not carry the value of one that is completely factory unless there is some serious money in it. It's common knowledge most people do not want someone else's money pit.

We're here to help...glad we could
This...for the most part...I could let some minor ones slide.
And no dealership (that's NO dealership Doc) is going to mess with selling a modded car, especially one that can't pass inspection. They are worthless to the general public, which is who buys 99.9% of cars. They are not worth the time and effort to return to stock. Ain't happening. Ever. The only thing they might deal with is one with factory parts (ex. a Mustang with SVT SC). Everyone knows this. Arguing otherwise is ignorant.

I saw a CLA last night, it was approaching from the other direction. I honestly did a triple take and head turn on it, because I was trying to figure out whether it was a real car or a kit car. It looked REALLY WEIRD
Saw one last week out in Midland, TX. Not a bad looking car, but not great either.

, I think the CLA looks best out of its competitors.
