Deleting Drive By Wire...

So I am on another forum and a guy with a 8th gen civic posted this link.

A shop in Missouri has deleted drive by wire by pretty much using an RSX-S TB.
http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/bolt-...ck-gauges.html

Wonder what would have to be done to make this work for a TL so all the boosted people can have a proper tune?

Lets hear some opinions

Get an older throttle body and cable... there you go!

I see that AEM makes a drive-by-wire engine programming system for the WRX STi that give a 1:1 throttle response, I'm out of the loop with newer TL stuff, but it should only be a matter of time before someone has an upgrade for most all cars.

it seems like it wouldnt be the hardest thing in the world for a 8th gen because they can match up a RSX TB and stuff in there easily, but what are you saying that the 3G TL can use?

It's cable controlled instead of computer controlled. I think it has a much greater response. JMO

I was assuming since the 3G TL was a 3.2L the bolt pattern would be the same as a 2G. I'm sure someone here knows if an older throttle body would fit, but I'm not sure.

Then, why did Honda develop such a technology that isn't better than the original system?

I'm just curious, not trying to be a dick.

It's just because it's new. Eventually it'll be much better, but like any new technology, it has its hiccups

I think Honda screwed it up in a couple of their cars. See Civic Si for example. On the S2000 and NSX its just about flawless.

I know when you get ITB"s on an NSX, they delete the Drive By Wire. Call up Science Of speed . com and ask what they exactly do. Tell them that nsxprime refered you.

One reason is that its much easier to integrate things like traction control and stability assist into a drive-by-wire system than a cable controlled system.

I believe it was the 1st production ever with BDW.

IMO the TSX was the biggest DBW screw up on the Acura side, it seems impossible to rev match without flooring it,

^

I've been happy with my TL for the past three years. Never had any problem with regards to the throttle response...

HOWEVER, If I had NSX or any type of sports car, I'd love to do it.

No way for me- see TheMirror's post ^^ 2 or 3 up! I'm not disabling my car's VSA/traction control, etc., esp. since the DBW seems pretty transparent and unobjectionable on my stock 5AT.

correct me if im wrong, but the DBW is one of the reasons there is not a good tune for our cars? i understand where yall are coming from for saying no and those are all good reasons, but i want to hear some F/I people's input
