$110k (plus taxes and fees)...woof.

Great car but I can't bring myself to spend that kind of dough on a hotted up wagon...that's 911, GT500, or lightly used Aston money.

Truth. I tried to get her into something German but she wasn't liking the prices of those either. She likes the CR-V though, and it's a hell of lot better than the Focus she was driving.

For me... the return on value is about 60k..
I think anything north still fits in the high depreciation curve
Maybe what you want is still too new to take a hit in that regard
Just wondering if you're willing to take a hit

That's why I'm hanging on to see what the market says when lease returns start rolling in at the end of the year. The E63 Estates hold their value pretty well compared to the sedans, so I'm not too worried about the depreciation curve, but that's car/spec dependent. But when it's time to sell, I'll just list it on BaT and watch people overpay

Regarding budget, assuming things don't change drastically within the next ~9 months, ideally around $90k, but I can go up a bit further for the right car. I'm not too worried about mileage - anything sub 40k is good, especially since I'd prefer to get one either certified from MB or with an extended warranty from Carmax. I understand that both come with a price premium over private party sales, but I'm not too keen on the idea of getting an AMG from a private party, unless it's a hell of a deal. Right now, my budget puts me in the private party price range/low end of the CPO range. The market on them probably won't change much at the end of the year, but they'll be one model year older and higher mileage, so you never know.

And who knows how long the stock market slide is going to last, or if it'll start to impact the used car market

Cheap? More like smart.

I like shiny things, so I don't mind dealing with a little bit of depreciation if it means I can have those things early on. If I were to wait 2-3 more years, then I'm sure I can get one in the 60s. But by then the new model will be out and I'll have buyers remorse

So, pretty sure if the ask is for a "mere" E63 or RS6 Avant, he'd chuckle and give you BOTH...since it's cheaper than a Zonda.

I'd be in for a divorce lawyer bill if I went out and bought a $90k car...

All three cars are paid off at this point so we're just stockpiling money for the next big thing whether it be a new house or car or both. Either way, I'm still happy with the VW so I'll keep it going for a while.
