you aren't understanding, it could be ANY 3 series.....the VAST majority of people aren't going to know it's an M3

They actually could have done more ego damage had they put a 135i. Now THAT would be funny!

^^ If the response was checkmate...the game is over.

Why would Audi respond with Come play, then?

I'm willing to bet that it wasn't an official ad and simply fan made?

^^Moog, I think your ad should say "Game Over."

To the original set of billboards, I think Audi could respond with an "Oh really?" and show a top trim R8 on a billboard that blocks out the sun across the street.

I honestly hope Audi does answer. This is some funny German slap fighting.

Your ad obviously isn't official , but with the Audi logo slapped on the other one, it could pass off as looking like an official ad especially with the professional looking rolling shot.

I think BMW had such a strong statement with the words "checkmate" that it's really tough for Audi to respond to that.

Audi gambled and lost.
I think Audi will be smart and take their lumps....and move on to a new campaign.

I agree, any reply looks like Audi got their german panties in a bunch.

They pretty much have to give a golf clap and say "Well played".

Don't be fooled, I wasn't trying to knock Audi down, in fact I've owned an A3 and an A8 in the past few years. Like a few other members have mentioned, this thread wasn't targeting the cars(A4 vs M3), it's the clever response from the other party that is quite humourous. I also think the people on this forum are very positive when it comes to Audi; you'll notice we do nothing but praise Audi's car designs and their technology pretty much everywhere on Acurazine.

Your A8 has a different 4.2 in it, just to let you know. Only the displacement is the same.

I'm sure Audi will come up with a better ad down the road.

Exactly. They are fierce competitors, I think BMW targets Audi more so these days than Merc even.

A pic of an R8 with O'RLY? would be the only way to come back at this.

What fight? Like my Avant has any real competitors in it's class other than it's own brothers (R/S4 Avant).

i kind of like the idea of an r8 driving by with a chess board being blown away.

you have to realize that most people will be driving by w/o seeing the original audi billboard.

so in response to checkmate, you can just say screw chess. we're driving nsx inspired cars here...

Audi's LMP program is more successful than BMW's F1 isn't it?
