Someday, an RS6 Avant+
Too bad, i was hoping Audi would win (have to root for the underdog, not the Uberdog).

I dont think Audi is a BMW underdog anymore. They offer just as many if not more models, and have a supercar (the R8), even which BMW doesn't have yet. Plus BMW interiors are still outdated looking and bland.

better pic of it from BMW blog:
BMW and Audi are dueling again, but this time, onto the “marketing battle field”. And what would be the best place to do so other than the one of the top states when it comes to car luxury sales: California. In Santa Monica, Audi has put up some billboards showing the all new Audi A4 along with the headline: “Your move, BMW”. BMW took on the challenge and entered a virtual chess game ….of course, with cars rather than pons, kings or queens.

I concure, especially if you look at the non-navigation models, they look so plain. I know that materials are very good quality, but I always get a sense that they didnt invest much time, effort and money on designing new interior.
It adds more of that feeling because all of the models (135, 325, 335, SUV's), and for different years, they all have same interior design.
I mean, people say they are classic design, but I think thats sugar coating it. Of course its classic, it been around +20 year non changed. Its boring outdated Classic style for me, especially non-navigation models.

Woah, I didn't expect this to turn into a BMW vs Audi thread. I think both appeal to a certain type of buyers and both manufacturers obviously have their own share of the market. As for the R8, the upcoming V10 will seal all who were criticizing the 4.2 powerplant.

Whats wrong with a high reving, small displacemnt V8? I beleive Jeremy Clarkson from Top gear stated in a quote, " I am most likely sitting about 4 feet from one of the greatest engines ever made." I mean how can you not be happy with a 8250 redline?

It's not about "what" car they put up in the ad...it's BMW's response that makes it great....they played their "trump" card.

...it's not like BMW jumped out of the class...they stayed with the 3 series / A4 class.
A very witty ad by Audi, that got outplayed by BMW.
Marketing 101...don't bring your knife to the gunfight.
Did Audi really think BMW was going to respond with a 328i?
...perhaps Audi should respond with the R8

A few years ago I remember a ad that Audi put out to rag on BMw for winning engine of the year.
"Congrats BMW, for winning engine of the year, from the 8 time winners of LeMans."
It was something along those lines.... I enjoyed it.

exactly, it doesn't matter what car is there...the general public will not know the difference. Hell most don't even look at the car....and 99% probably don't know the 3 series is an M3

Those two dealers are a block from each other.
I literally used to live half a block from the bimmer dealer. I could see them from my door.

How in the hell would you respond to Checkmate?
Rematch - with an R8 as the car in the foreground? umm.... no.
its funny to notice all the defensive Audi owners
