Question About Taking Pics w/ 10MP Camera
I will be going on vacation soon and taking a bunch of photos. Most likely I'll be uploading them to winkflash for album pics and putting some online for friend's to see.
The question is what resolution/image size do I take my pictures in? Do I shoot them all in 10MP "fine" mode and shrink them down later? Or is there some optimum resolution I should shoot in? In essence, it's a pain in the ass to handle the large files in 10MP mode, but they can always be shrunk down. However, if you shoot your pictures in lower resolution, your stuck with what you've got.
I mainly want the winkflash pics to come out as best as possible, however, I don't want to have to u/l 60GB worth of pictures either.
Thoughts?

Just take them all in Fine and in the biggest size it can go..
Oh and one advice, resize the pictures individually by using a program (i.e. Photoshop, etc) instead of using the resizing option on websites.

Take at best size/resolution. Then use a batch processor to make the "smaller" versions for upload. That way if you get a really great shot, you can still use the original large file to get it printed 8x10 or poster if you want.

Thanks for the advice. I was going go with the canon 1100is, but the price tag of the samsung l200 swayed me.. Seemed like the best bang for your buck for a vacation shooter like myself.
IMHO, I would always take a picture in highest resolution.
You will never get a chance to take that picture again, don't skimp on it.
Besides, shooting with a 10 Meg camera does NOT mean your pictures will be 10 meg each. (Unless you shoot in RAW, in which case you are already beyond help).

Hello. I came back from vacation and have a lot of good photos... a couple gigs. Anyhow, I want to upload these to winkflash to make an album. U/L speed/time isn't a problem, however, I read somewhere that some guy uploaded his original high quality/sized photos to winkflash, and when he received the album back some were fine while others had misproportion/jagged edges etc. In summation, you may u/l some nice prints, but they have some program that resizes the pics.
What's the solution? Do I resize all my pics in Photoshop to the correct dimensions before uploading them, so they don't get screwed up by winflash's automatic resize thing? Or, do I just upload the pics in their raw size?
