That's really beautiful, Dan. Gorgeous tones and detail. Can you tell us about the project?

Thanks!

I'm not exactly sure how to describe the project yet because it's still taking shape in my head. It's going to be mostly minimalistic in nature, with images of feathers and other flowing shapes. It will be mostly monochrome, but with a few very vibrant colour images thrown in for good measure.

Dan, the background for the feather, is that marble or wood? I love the texture.

It's a wet rock, probably granite. Water is flowing over the rock and causing the feather to move in the current.

Fireworks #3 is my fav. Nice job!

Giraffe #1 would be awesome if it wasn't a tad underexposed.

This one made explore on flickr so I figured I'd post it here
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ep_jhu/3782514932/" title="Lonely Lady by ep_jhu, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2674/3782514932_53e8164320.jpg" width="500" height="500" alt="Lonely Lady" /></a>
I wish I had used a tripod for more sharpness, but the IS did ok.

That's the 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM at 55mm, at about 4-5" from the subject, IIRC it was manually focused.

spade, that won't work for the b/w with colour contest. it's not a photoshop replacement, but if you want to play with editting there are free options (again won't replace PS). try downloading Picasa, they have a b/w option with a spot of colour. you may be able to just size the colour to cover your bug but leave the rest of the photo b/w. also flickr and photobucket have editing options for pics you upload, can be fun to play with.

I took this at the Lucketts Fair yesterday. I like the high key effect. I know, it's kinda girly for this audience, posting anyway..
