Zipho your shots have a different look to them I usually don't see anywhere. I like it. It's a contrasty (and a little blown out - but it works) combined with detailed, at the same time - a tricky balance to pull off. esp #2.

Yeah, man, that's some serious bokeh! But seriously, that's a hot pic. Literally - I love the heat rising. Noice.

This photo is so i like how you were able to capture the heat waves. I seriously want to be able to shoot like this one day.

I think the image is the perfect example of this weeks weather. It's one of my last Sunflowers and it tried to open this week. Rain for three days and 50 degree weather made it give up on full bloom.

jupiter, that is one of the coolest sunflower shots I have ever seen. not your typical sf shot at all, love the colours, beading water and soft background (bokeh or something).
and that drop shot , I like the view thru the drop.
very nice shots as usual

srika - I was trying to figure out what purple text meant. Nice shot. The thermals are cool.
Jup - that sunflower is awesome. Doesn't even look like a sunflower - looks more exotic. I like the colors and contorted petals.

birthday dinner party at a friend's last night -
I wasn't planning to take pictures but had a few drinks and the iphone came out - pretty happy with the result, honestly I feel like some of these are the best indoor shots I've ever done at a setting like this. It's funny because I try to get this look with the 5D and have to do a lot of processing to even get close, whereas with these didn't require much processing at all, just one filter that subdues color and adds grain in one swing. I might do this more often at events like this - taking full-resolution pictures with the 5D only to give them an "old" look like this (and struggle to even get close to this kind of look) seems rather backwards and counter-productive all of a sudden.
first two shots, I am not sure I could even get that with the 5D very easily, there would be some serious DOF effect going - iphone is reporting all of these shots at 2.8. Also can you imagine framing that on a 5D with grip at the dinner table????? No way in hell I would do that. So technically, some of these shots are impossible for me to get with the 5D.
there's a few more on my flickr, and you can see all 64 pics on

wow srika those grainy shots are awesome, in camera settings?,high ISO kinda thing, or PP? really loving the colour shots especially.
Also, another question for srika or anyone else that want s to chime in, what's your preferred B&W conversion method? (if it's not a secret) do you use a variety of methods depending on the shot, or a favorite way?
I'm using the gradient map in "adjustments" whenever I try changing a shot to B&W.

I usually use Silver Efex, the B/W conversion filter in Color Efex, or Alienskin Exposure 2. It does depend on the shot and how I want it to look.

Playing with silhouettes... What are these things called? I don't even know what they're called in Spanish, so I can't look it up.
