I forsee canon offering huge discounts this holiday season. much like last year and how I got the 6D2 for 1350 including photo printer, paper, grip and memory card. i think spec wise the camera is fine. It's the price that's too high. Sounds more like a $1600 camera. Not a 2300 camera |
The specs are shit compared to everyone else. |
What specifically is shit? |

https://www.dpreview.com/news/558904...will-cost-1300 Yes there is a crop in 4K. Its an APS-C/ Super 35 crop. So 1.5x. DPReview mentions the chip is based off the 6DII, so dynamic range wont be that great. https://www.dpreview.com/articles/15...e-canon-eos-rp FULL FRAME FOR THE MASSES! CANON INTRODUCES ITS SECOND FULL-FRAME MIRRORLESS CAMERA – THE EOS RP New Super-Compact and Ultra-Lightweight EOS RP is Ideal for Users Looking to Graduate to Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera at an Affordable Price MELVILLE, N.Y., February 13, 2019 – Responding to the demand from amateur and advanced amateur photographers for an entry-level, full-frame mirrorless camera, Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the second camera in the EOS R lineup, the EOS RP. The EOS RP is designed for photographers looking to step up from Canon’s APS-C cameras: the EOS Rebel, EOS M and the EOS 80D, into the world of full-frame mirrorless photography. Weighing in at just 17.29 ounces, the EOS RP camera is lighter than a 500ml bottle of water and smaller than Canon’s popular APS-C DSLR camera, the Canon EOS Rebel T7i, coming in at approximately 5.0in (w) x 3.77in (h) x 2.36in (d). With optics at its core, the EOS RP takes full advantage of the complete line up of RF lenses and is compatible with the existing collection of Canon’s EF and EF-S lenses with the use of one of three optional RF EOS-R Mount Adapters . “As Canon continues to evolve its full-frame mirrorless cameras, our goal is that one day the EOS R line becomes as widely popular as our celebrated lineup of EOS DSLR cameras,” said Kazuto Ogawa, president and chief operating officer, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “As a company, we believe that in order for us to accomplish that goal, Canon needs to develop full-frame mirrorless cameras for every skill level of photographers and that starts with amateurs and advanced amateurs. This makes the EOS RP the perfect addition to the existing lineup.” The new Canon EOS RP full-frame mirrorless camera features a 26.2 megapixel CMOS sensor that is powered by the company’s DIGIC 8 image processor, providing users with high-image quality, outstanding operation and functionality. The new Canon EOS RP features Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus (AF) with 4,779 manually selectable AF points and a wide AF coverage area of 88 percent horizontal and 100 percent vertical. With f/1.2 lenses, the camera astonishingly boasts AF sensitivity in low light in as little as Exposure Value (EV) -5. When using the RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM lens with the EOS RP, the camera can focus in as little as 0.05 seconds with Dual Pixel CMOS AF . When using eye detection AF, the camera can automatically detect faces and focus on the eye of the subject. This feature is supported when the camera is set in either servo AF mode during continuous shooting and movie servo AF, as well as one-shot AF. Like the EOS R full-frame mirrorless camera that was announced in September 2018, the EOS RP is built around the same 54mm mount diameter and short-back focus. This allows for the use of one of three optional mount adapters for full compatibility with all existing EF, EF-S, TS-E and MP-E lenses. Through the use of the optional Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter or Control Ring Mount Adapter, these lenses, in fact, gain functionality. For photographers looking to further expand their abilities and capture a wide variety of both still and video images, the EOS RP features Visual Guide mode. First introduced with the EOS Rebel T7i and EOS 77D, this mode allows users to see on screen how switching modes on the mode dial or tweaking settings can alter the image they are about to capture. This mode helps to guide photographers to capture more compelling images, such as ones with a shallow depth-of-field or being able to give moving subjects a frozen or flowing look. For those looking to expand their imaginative options, the camera also features Creative Assist mode that allows photographers to use new and unique visual effects and adjustments when shooting, such as brightness, contrast, saturation, color tone, monochrome and background blur. In addition, the design, ergonomics, layout and ease-of-use of the camera are very similar to that of other Canon cameras consumers might already be familiar with. Additional noteworthy features of the EOS RP camera include:
The Canon EOS RP full-frame mirrorless camera is scheduled to be available in March 2019 for an estimated retail price of $1299.00 for the body only. It will also be sold as a body-and-lens kit with the RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM lens for $2399.00* To learn more about the EOS R system, including in-depth educational tutorials, please visit usa.canon.com https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...daed81e364.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...f85ebc6d17.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...a80281f9d0.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...076a011231.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...a9a1abde50.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...70cc2bf4ac.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...52148699e0.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...d35e3c929d.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...54fbe74622.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...f0dcbb55bc.jpg |

Just got my EOS RP the other day. I LOVE the size and features. I was debating on getting the 6D Mark II or 5D Mark IV. Decided on the RP. Has some features I liked that the others did(touch screen focus, more focus points, wireless transfer and others). Did not get any of the RF lenses. The cheapest they have now is the 35mm that cost $400. Paired it with my Canon 85mm f/1.8. Photos are crazy sharp to me.

The 24-70mm f2 is $2999. The 50mm f/1.2 is $2099. I'll stick with my adapter and EF lenses. DSag man. Then the 85mm is $2699. Don't make the camera $1200, talk about making a cheaper entry level mirrorless camera, then have the cheapest lens $449 and all the others $2k+. That doesn't sound right to me at all.
|
Oh. Just an update(EOS RP). Over the weekend, did 180 photos at Cars and Coffee and a family photo shoot later that same day that used 120 photos. 300 photos and only used up one notch on the battery life meter. So I'm sure you can get a good 500+ out of one battery.

Canon is loosing money in their camera division. Theyre hoping to fool people with the new mount and lens offerings. Canon relied on the entry level point and shoot market to make a lot of profit. Selling $30 and $40 cameras for $200-$400 dollars.
Well I won't be buying any of their new lenses. No thanks. I'll be buying another RP but I'll stick with the EF lenses until they come WAY down on those prices. They can help if they drop those prices down. Having a normal lens like a 85mm cost $2k is ridiculous. I can see if they had another variant but the ONLY one they have for the mount cost that much? |

No 24fps, no dial pixel, heavy crop etc etc etc. :bored: I wonder what it is this time. :ponder: :chuckle: |

Hopefully one or a few do show up. This pricing is killing me. Lol. I would like to be able to use a native mount instead of having the adapter. |

Yup. No 24fps option in either 4K or 1080p
and yes the 4K is full read out (ie no crop). The 90D has an option to also record with a 4K region of the sensor. |
Thoughts?
if it really is licensing how much would that even save on the cost??? sure it may save on cost but on the other hand you could potentially miss out on a sale. :dunno: https://www.canonrumors.com/why-has-...0d-and-eos-rp/ |

1D X Mark III development announced.
POWERFUL, FASTER AND RUGGED: CANON ANNOUNCES THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE EOS-1D X MARK III CAMERAMELVILLE, N.Y., October 24, 2019 – Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced that its parent company, Canon Inc. is developing the highly anticipated Canon EOS-1D X Mark III Camera – the successor to the world-renowned and award-winning EOS-1D X Mark II. Ideal for sports and wildlife, the flagship DSLR is being engineered and designed using feedback from the worldwide community of EOS-1D X and EOS-1D X Mark II photographers. Continuing Canon’s rich heritage of creating first-rate optical products, the EOS-1D X Mark III offers an enhanced autofocus system, with dramatically improved still and video image quality and communication. When using this camera, professionals will have the confidence they will get ‘the shot’ and can deliver it at a competitive speed – faster than ever before – ideal for the increasingly fast-paced industry.“The innovations put forth by the new EOS-1D X Mark III will set the new standard for professional DSLR cameras and further cement Canon’s commitment to its professional photographers,” said Kazuto Ogawa, president and chief operating officer, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “In developing the new camera, Canon listened to extensive user-feedback from professionals out in the field. The result is a camera that has evolved from its predecessor and maintained the overall quality that professional photographers have come to expect from the Canon EOS-1D series.” Need for SpeedThe Canon EOS-1D X Mark III will be blisteringly fast - offering exceptional precision, reliability, high-performance autofocus and subject tracking – providing photographers with a tool that will help to capture the shot they are chasing. The camera’s new autofocus algorithm will improve stability and tracking when using both the Optical Viewfinder and in Live View shooting mode, using Deep Learning Technology and adapting to help facilitate accurate focus tracking for every shot. When using the optical viewfinder the camera will use a new autofocus sensor, with approximately 28 times the resolution in the center of the EOS-1D X Mark II. Offering the ability to autofocus in even brighter and darker situations than before and with greater precision, the camera will have a range of autofocus capabilities, which will enable the photographer to get their shot. In Live View mode, users will be able to make use of 525 AF areas using the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system will cover approximately 90x100 percent of the image sensor. The camera will support significantly faster frame rates with full AF and AE, using either the optical viewfinder (up to approximately 16fps mechanical shutter) or Live View (up to approximately 20fps mechanical or electronic shutter). Additionally, the camera’s dual CFexpress card slots will enable more than five times the RAW burst depth of its predecessor. Powered to DominateThe development of EOS-1D X Mark III is a clear example of Canon’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovative imaging products featuring optically excellent technology. The camera will support an all new, Canon-developed, CMOS sensor and DIGIC processor, that will deliver greater image quality, at even higher ISOs, with the ability to capture stills in 10-bit using the HEIF (High Efficiency Image File) file format. HEIF produces wider dynamic range and greater color representation compared to JPEG. The power of 4K resolution brings stories to life – shoot 4K videos including 4K60p with 10-bit 4:2:2 Canon Log internal recording.Conveniently ConnectedFor professionals, content delivery is just as important as image capture – the EOS-1D X Mark III will make it easy, featuring built-in Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® low-energy connectivity in addition to GPS technology. To keep pace with ever-shortening deadlines, the camera will transfer data at more than twice[i] the speed of the EOS-1D X Mark II when using the built-in Ethernet connection, or the new optional wireless file transmitter – the WFT-E9, which is also compatible with Canon’s recently launched Cinema EOS C500 Mark II camera. Coupled with simpler network set-up the camera will greatly enhance the professional workflow.A Familiar Feel with Improved AttributesExisting EOS-1D series users will be familiar and comfortable handling the EOS-1D X Mark III allowing seamless navigation with trusted ergonomics – whilst the magnesium alloy body will offer the durability expected from Canon’s EOS-1D cameras. Professional photographers can trust the same impressive build-quality as the EOS-1D X Mark II – with phenomenal weather-sealing, standing up to harsh conditions, including wind, rain and humidity. With incredible low-light shooting capabilities, the camera will now feature select illuminated buttons that allow for precision operation in challenging, dark and dimly lit conditions. The camera will also offer a new additional control for selecting AF points, built into the AF-ON button, allowing photographers to change AF points on-the-fly for the best composition – further helping to simplify their work. In addition, dramatically improved battery life – with the same LP-E19 – will allow professionals to shoot for longer periods of time, without having to change batteries, helping reduce the chance of missing a shot. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...6d9299556.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...0813f87fb.jpeg |
