If the lens was damaged, you could've just bought a new lens instead of a new cam? :dunno: |
wait, they come off?

:what: via CR. Canon announcements for September 5, 2018
|
Seems like a pretty robust list of launch lenses! Lets hope they didn't phone in yet another camera body though.
|
damn so it does have a new mount??? looks like Canon has been busy.

not sure on those adapter rumors. Since they mention ND and PL it could be a filter adapter. ND = neutral density PL = polarizing filter :dunno: |

pretty nerve wracking trying to cut off the filter with dikes. All the youtube videos were pretty scary, but I was able to get it off much cleaner than those guys.
|
Kind of figured this would be the case. But was hoping for someway to natively mount EF lenses w/o an adapter. From Nokishita; M adapter R was confirmed with “Mount Adapter EF – EOS R”. Three types of mount adapters are available with control ring and drop-in filter. |
its here!
Canon EOS R Specifications
|
-6 EV autofocus sensitivity!!! :what:
|
:ibonly1cardslot:
The backside looks more like a Rebel SL2 thou :ponder: looks like the R lenses have a programmable control wheel. :ponder: |
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...5cd8ba08e.jpeg They changed the camera strap anchor, wonder if that will hold over the long term. |
If the leaked specs on the camera are true...it’s a dud. But we’ll see. Maybe Canon is faking everyone out. |
yea.. link to full specs.
https://www.canonrumors.com/canon-eo...pecifications/ No mention if there is any crop in 4K. No mention of IBIS No mention of eye AF (yet the EOS M50 has it?) No 1080p 120fps |
5,655 AF points? :what:
|
|
yea i saw that too. so i looked more into how dual pixel AF works.
kind of interesting Dual Pixel CMOS AF, as of April 2018, is the only industry AF technology that uses every pixel on the imaging sensor to detect focus, and also to capture actual image information for still and video imagery. Focus can be detected anywhere, within a “live” area covering about 80% of the horizontal and vertical width of the entire CMOS imaging sensor. So basically with a 24mp sensor with 6000x4000 resolution, in the live area theres about 15.36 million AF points. That number they give is the just number of selectable AF points :what: |

camera will do 4K 8-bit 4:2:0 internally. 8-bit 4:2:2 externally over HDMI. 10-bit 4:2:2 externally over HDMI in either rec709 or rec2020 :what: Canon Log is included! |
|
Holy you can transfer CRAW wirelessly! Answering the demand for enhanced mobile editing of RAW image files, Canon is also announcing a new application, Digital Photo Professional Express (DPP Express). In combination with an updated Canon Camera Connect App, DPP Express enables users to send, view, edit and process CR3 RAW files on their iPad. A free download of the app will be available October 2018. |

There is nothing about this system that screams must have. It feels like a very mixed bag and somewhat half baked. They have good marketing though. Nikon was a lesson is how not to market the right things. |

In any case, I agree that this is a solid meh and, for the price, I'm curious to see how the image quality compares with the Sonys and Nikons. |
I'm assuming for IQ it'll the same or better than the 5D4. The MP count is slightly different: 5D4 30.1mp vs EOSR 30.3 Also digic 8 vs 6+ But I agree. Nothing special about this camera. Seems like it's more to prevent the bleeding of people switching to Sony. not sure if it's enough thou. |
The card slot is UHS-II compatible. :ponder: |

Their 4k records at 480mbps or 60MB/sec. at the minimum you're gonna need a V60 SDXC card. i don't think I've seen any UHS-I V60 cards. |

They have dumbed down the fuck out of this camera...., Functions they are touting about, can only be done in very limited settings. If anyone wants to know, you suffer the same as I did, go watch the Jared Polin video. I will get one thing, touting -6EV, thats only come with one lens, 50mm 1.2.

I think this was rushed... they should've held off and brought out something (later) that's NOT dumbed down... but then again, maybe that's just Canon's way :dunno:
the rumors originally called for 2 full frame mirrorless cams. a lower end followed by a higher end model approx 6 months after the release of the low end. For the specs this would make sense. The EOS R is more of a 6D mk II. :dunno: |

UHS-II slots are backwards compatible with UHS-I cards. In the EOS R you can actually turn off the UHS-II feature :chuckle: https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...93eca2d2cc.jpg |
small form factor 5D4 with a faster processor and a competitive price. I dig.
but whyyyyyy a new mount????? if it had an EF mount I WOULD be interested...... :bored: |

Good news for Eye-AF! new firmware coming when the EOS R is available https://www.canonrumors.com/function...rmware-update/ What’s coming in the firmware?
|
Still a “shit the bed” camera. |
As previously mentioned. There's a rumor for the development announcement of the higher end EOS R in Jan 2019 with official launch at a later date. |
I went to buy a XQD card last Friday...and the Canon was rep was standing all by his lonesome at a counter with about 4 EOS R bodies and lenses for people to play with....except nobody cared. I went over for a second. The 50mm 1.2 is HUGE and Heavy....the specs of the camera are shit...I've heard rumor that pre-sales are in the shitter for this thing.
Canon fucked up. Big Time. |
