my 5d was stolen last night (with the 50 1.4 - I would have been REALLY mad if the 24-70 was on it). i left it unattended for too long at a restaurant (not a place I expected any crime scene). I was drinking and thought it would be ok where it was, at the end of the night it was gone. for the number of times Ive taken my camera out to places, it surprises me that this happened at a restaurant and not at a club. anyways, trying to see if insurance can help me.

Ouch! Did you file a police report? I'd do that w/ serial number(s) so that insurance will be satisfied and pawn shops can be alerted. This would sicken me to no end...very sorry this happened to you.

damn, sorry to hear that Rubin.
did you have them listed on your policy? Thats something I really need to do as my gear list grows. My only problem is that my fiancee is my agent, and she would have to find out what I actually paid for everything

I was hoping I might hear something from restaurant today. but no. I havent done a police report. I think I will have to for any insurance claim. I hope (and think) I did list it on my policy.

thanks guys, no images lost. that would have REALLY pissed me off. I have had that happen before, though. when I had a film snapshot camera in the 90's... which was stolen.

Couple days late as usual with me, but really sorry to hear about your 5D Rubin. I think I would have reverse robbed the restaurant if that happened to me.

well, just spoke to insurance, they will only replace it with an existing equivalent camera, so it looks like I will get a 5D2, grip, and 50 1.4. oh and also my homeowner's insurance premium goes up by around $35 a year. I'm content with that. finalizing tomorrow.
