Not surprised, I's say they're thinking beyond CS6.

Not buying it. :shakehead I'm happy with my 7D's for a while, so shouldn't need to upgrade just for the RAW access.

so I got this Dell Studio 17 laptop with the top of the line RGB LED 1080p screen a few months ago. Well, the screen is bright and great for watching Blu-ray and doing regular computing, but it totally sucks for photos. The colors are not smooth - so you get these weird gradations going on. I can still edit on the screen, but I can't accurately see what I'm doing. So I have to be careful to only make changes which I know aren't going to adversely affect the photo. Kinda feels like a vegetarian cook who is making a meat dish. So, just thought you might like to know. Pretty unhappy about this but I'm trying not to think about it.

That nice screen is probably still using a TN panel for the display.

Afaik apple is the only one to use led IPS in their MacBook pro line.

here's what im talking about - took this with iphone - this is what I see at an angle - look at that horrible dithering - dont see this when looking head on but its still there - and this is more visible with certain pictures than others - excuse the light reflections

maybe they fucked up and gave you the 3D screen

Is this brand new? Is this what it's suppose to look like or could it be defective?

The guy at the coffee shop yesterday said he wanted to steal it from me.

I told him to just get me my coffee.

can any one of you recommend to me what is the best (or a couple of the best) feature and top-rated camera backpacks for 2 gripped bodies (1 with lens attached), 1 telephoto, 2 regular lens, flash, and enough space for 2 50mm's if I needed em? and ideally I would also like a back pocket for a 17" laptop.

also interested in a smaller bag for 1 gripped body with lens attached, flash, and a couple of additional lenses. I think I will probably end up getting one big bag and one of those smaller bags like that 200 series where you can take the camera out the side without taking the backpack off. But I don't know why big backpack to get.

I could look myself but I wanted to hear your opinions - thx!

Kind of .
Went into Dallas today in hopes of getting some shots of Little Baghdad which was 'built' in '03 as a movie set for Saving Jessica Lynch. Couple blocks in south Dallas.

Unfortunately, it wasn't how it used to be as I feared. There was an article in a local newspaper about 6 months ago how there was intentions of completely redoing the few blocks which they made into this Little Baghdad due to it severely deteriorating. Which it was. The plaster for the buildings was completely coming off in many sections. Many areas that used to be accessible aren't anymore. One section actually burned down. Wasn't the same. Meh. Oh well.

“Photojournalism: time of death 11.12. GMT 1st August 2010.”

I believe we owe it to our children to tell them that the profession of ‘photojournalist’ no longer exists. There are thousands of the poor bastards, creating massive debt for themselves hoping to graduate and get a job which no-one is prepared to pay for anymore.

Even when photographers create brilliant stories and the magazine editors really want to publish them, they cannot pay a realistic price for the work.

what are your intentions for this backpack Rubin? Actual hikes, a means to transport all your equipment in one bag? From what Ive seen and read, most backpack bags arent overly comfortable for hiking, especially with all that weight in them. The 17" laptop is going to be a limiting factor for you too. I have the Burton Zoompack, its great for lugging all my gear including my laptop when needed, but my 15" is about the most that will fit in it.

I think that for hiking Im going to choose a real hiking pack that fits me best, and then load what I need for that day into it.

Wndrlst has one of the new LowePro ProTrekkers, she likes it a lot, it's a beefed up bag for hiking.

thanks guys - its looking like for now I'll need a smaller pack like the the Slingshot - something I can take to work every day. But I will also need something like that Protrekker 300 or 400 somewhere down the road.. for travelling etc.

Holy hell, that looks amazing. The CS5 did a decent job, but wow. Why just 5D2? I'm going to dl the free trial to see how it plays with 7D files.

I said that because of the banding issue that "some" 5D2's have.

Is it specifically designed forthe 5dmkII?

Is it like that one plug in I see at PotN about the 1DmkIII.
Its specifically designed off the 1dIII sensor and Really makes the camera have no noise and performs better than a d700/5dII/d3 etc etc.

No, they are just using the 5D2 to show what it can recover.
