They're changing it because yahoo needs more business and wants to bring back people to Flickr.

yeah so - mine looks the same - but they are doing a slow rollout, I just didn't get it yet.

I also read of a new download feature where you can bulk download your own photos from flickr - something that was missing

I actually like the new look. Cleaner IMO. Under albums, I could actually just send the link to people if they ask to see my work (since I don't have a website)

I think that old view is no longer available as a link on the site, but I still have it as a bookmark on my browser. It's the "details=1" at the end. You can just substitute your flickr name and you'll see it.

here's yours:

Yeah I been feeling the same way watching some of these videos haha - friend just got a DJI 4K Gold and its making some boss imagery and stable as hell. The prices have come down too, that one is like $1400 which is not too bad for what you get.

I know, right? I thought they cost more, and for that price, they even do 4k video.

A buddy of mine here in Vancouver, his family owns a huge tree farm out in Kelowna (they sell trees to the government, cities all over N. America), last time we hung out, he was telling me that they are thinking about hiring a helicopter service so they can do some fly by videos and take pictures from high up... and I told him he should just pay someone with a drone.... So, we looked it up and found a local guy, on his site, it was something like $500 for some pictures and a short video While I'm sure it's a hell of a lot cheaper vs paying for a helicopter + pilot, $500 for some pictures and a short video is easy money for the dude that owns the drone. Just a few jobs and the drone is paid for

and I guess using video footages from drones are really common with high end real estate listings too

yeah, I don't know about that... probably just easier to buy one, they can tether with your mobile device (for a screen), and for the price they are going for which includes 4k video, I don't know if building one myself would end up saving much

the 4k version is just under $1400, the 1080p version is $999

My friend builds ones comparable to the phantom 2 for 250-300. Add in the Bluetooth and FPV and it's like 350. Throw in a hero 4 black and you're about 850.

Pretty significant savings vs paying 1400.

Actually his drones are phantom 2s, it uses the same flight controller.

That price is also assuming you're paying full retail in the GoPro. Which you shouldn't be.

I'll always remember about maybe 8-10 years ago (I think I may have posted about this somewhere in AZ), I spent something like $200 on remote control helicopter... Let's just say it was the most expensive $200 I've ever spent. I recall taking off and went straight into a wall. And it was done

did you guys see the Petapixel article about the guy who got a drone early on and took it to a lot of hot world destinations and flew it all around - he said this was a window of about 18 months where this was allowed because nobody really knew what they were. damn sick footage.

that's true - but let's face it - due to the nature and scope of drone operation, it's possible for anyone to be an "asshole" using one - I mean you could encounter any number of scenarios where the drone goes down, and who or what's going to be underneath it is anyone's guess.

Hey guys,

As i was updating my gear list. I thought it was a good time to get insurance on my gear. Aside from srika and sarlacc plus probably a few more on here who do it for income. How do you insure your stuff?

What i found out is that, Lets say you insure with homeowner's insurance which is the cheapest route, but having the chance of not being reimbursed everything since your gear is "too" professional. (happen to a buddy of mine, was paid 2k after people broke into his car and stole 10k worth of stuff). Now looking at a separate insurance for it, i came across PPA, PPA | Professional Photographers of America<---click here, which now offers 15k of insurance and a bunch of other amenities as well for less than 30/month. It seems like a no-brainer in picking the insurance. Plus to have a piece of mind.
