Well I'm 140 pounds lol it's heavy enough. The lighter the better. And with the current sales, it's a steal to get a nice tripod that'll last a lifetime.

Interesting to at least see the insides of lenses. Very cool.

so, the Eye-Fi Mobi SD card finally arrived. Pretty cool. The setup couldn't be any easier. There's a slight delay transferring, but not too bad. Although I have a feeling it's going to be a battery drainer.
I just took this with my NEX-5N from the balcony and came out pretty good. Yes, I know my smartphone has a camera, but there are occasions when you just need something better and instant at the same time

oh crap if I had some extra dough I'd buy this right now......
BigValueInc is selling brand new Canon EF 24-105 f/4L IS lenses for $659. That’s nearly a $500 savings.

New?! Holy shit! That's amazing.
It is a beautiful lens, I adore mine.

New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging (where packaging is applicable). Packaging should be the same as what is found in a retail store, unless the item is handmade or was packaged by the manufacturer in non-retail packaging, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag. See the seller's listing for full details.

apparently the lenses are separated from the kit. some come with warranty cards some do not. if it does not, you can register it for warranty with Canon, since it is still a 'new' lens.

Canon knows what serial numbers are for what market. If what they are selling are not items MEANT for the North American market. Canon will not honor warranty, NOR will they fix the item if you say you will pay for it.
Just read information from one of the links. If it is Canon NA item, they should put it in the listing.
Again too good to be true, and I would not buy it.

# of times I've needed and used Canon warranty work on any of my equipment in the past 10 years: 0
I'd buy it just for the savings. If it needed repair, I can take it to the local camera shop (which I have done a couple of times).

oh well! You're lucky enough to have someone local. And if they can't fix it, they'd have to go to Canon, and again if not a NA item, may not get fixed.

I guess what we are saying here is, there is a risk here. If you want to take it, you potentially won't have as many options, if you have trouble. But if you take it and DON'T have trouble (which is also possible) - then you've saved a lot of money.
#6575
That's all I'm stating. Canon doesn't eff with grey market items. Hell Nikon's market is Canada and US. So they won't fix items in the US, made for Canada and vise versa.

Sweet dual ISo for 5d2 and 6d.
If you don't know, the custom firmware enables dual use of ISO. Basically uses iso100 for some vertical lines and 1600 for others. This feature that's there in hardware but basically turned off/not used. Essentially allowing 14 stops of dynamic range.
Original article about the 5d3 and 7d

No, there's a little bit of hassle when I was logging in for the first time on mobile devices, but after I log in and let the browser "remember" the password, then I never have problems
On the desktop, I never have problems

all work and no play
I took a hike today with the family to an incredible 100' cascade, while I was there a group of people started rappelling down the face of it. I thought that would be great for perspective, so I went to take my CPL off to speed up my shutter speed a bit....and dropped the fucking thing in the sand/rocks. Put a big bullseye right in the middle of it.

don't ask me why there is a greenish cross-processing tint fluctuating in the frames, I thought I had processed all of them equally but I think I messed something up - I didn't spend too much time on it
