Im not really into drifting either, but whatever speeds along development is find by me. HKS seems to be the only one that came out with parts for the FA20 engine. All the others swapped EJs or even V8s in them - which I understand since theyre race cars, they need to be competitive and the parts for those motors are already there.

HKS already has cams, headers, pistons, rods, and the s/c'er kit for the FA20. Im really hoping that the ECU is more Subaru and can easily use the Cobb AP tuner.

Its come to my realization that Fortune Auto (suspension makers) are local to me. I dont know how Ive missed that over the last 5 years of living here Im going to contact them about developing coilovers for the FRS/BRZ.

Are they the lime green one? Are they pretty good? They have one for my car, but I never cared about it.

Some of them are Lime Green. The higher end coilovers are gold.

Ive heard good reviews, but I also read good reviews about Megan and KSport

The one thing I do like is they offer shock dynos and when you order a setup, they match everything to make sure youre getting a consistent setup on all four corners.

Zeal coilovers = best ride/handling coilover I've experienced. I forget which ones but my buddy had them and it was the nicest riding MR2 I've been in. Cornered nice and flat too, you couldn't fit two fingers between the rear fender and tire but it never rubbed.

It's not even a compromise, it had the best of both worlds. It was just $$$$. They were blue and gold IIRC

Yea, Zeals were an option for the CL. Im currently on AMRs and absolutely love them. I was just thinking Fortune Auto because theyre local.

I really wish I lived on the West Coast right about now. I think it was HKS that is looking for a car

Zeals are the top of line as far as coils go pretty much. They are what I will be switching to from my TEINs on the TSX. Only thing better is going with Penske or Ohlins really.

It's very unfortunate, but there will be so many retards who try to drift these cars on public road and wrap them around the trees. I can see the insurance rate on the Scion model going up in couple years.

Id love to get the Zeals, but unfortunately theyre in CA and I am not.

But, once I get the car, its going strait to Fortune Auto for about a week for development

I think FRS is going to be much worse since every freaking magazine has been marketing the car as the perfect drift car ever. Who the hell drift on the road anyway? It just begs these retards to try it and wreck them.

lol i have a funny story back in high school where one of my friends battery died and we were chillin on the road just off of campus (where everyone parked since our senior lot was so small) until AAA came.

And some dude thats in one of our classes starts talking to us about cars and then he's all yea dude I can drift my car!!

He's driving an 04ish camry and i'm just thinking this guys retarded, and my just says he cant. This guy gets in his car speeds off and there's an intersection couple hundred feet away. He turns right, yanks the e-brake slides into the opposite lane, a car thats coming nearly hits him, and he slides sideways into the curb...

kids are dumbasses lol

If i had this car I think I'd learn to drift with it on the track, but first I'd wanna leaarn to properly track the car.

Isn't one of those guys the "drift king"? Basically, in most of their races, he will win, he's that good.

For the first video, it's all about drag racing.

For the 1st race in this video, the drift king, Keiichi Tsuchiya (geen racing suit) was driving the FRS (86), and it lost to the BRZ.

Then the rest of the runs were all driven by the drift king, launching each car at 3500rpm. In these runs, the BRZ was slower than the FRS.

Seems to be these two cars are pretty even and it really depends on the reaction time and launch.

Yea, theyre identical cars. The Subie suspension was set up for a bit more understeer compared to the FR-S. But as far as the important bits go, thats the only difference.

Why would they configure Subie one to have more understeer? Just curious.

It makes sense to me that they would make it "safer" since the Subie is more of a daily driver then a track whore. I think they just want to make it easier to drive for the masses, while those that have track intentions go for the stripped Scion version.

When asked how the two cars differ, the Scion folks tell us the BRZ is about stability and the FR-S is about agility. The word “understeer” has surfaced in initial reports on the Subaru BRZ. The Scion doesn’t understeer. Its cornering balance is neutral—bravely neutral for a car that will be sold to young buyers. Scion claims the only changes to its chassis are slightly softer springs and stiffer dampers.
That being said, I don't believe the difference is all that noticeable. The BRZ is still considered a very good handling car: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...leon-road-test

Subie gave more understeer to match it's AWD counterparts in "feel".

That's not saying much. However, I'm under the assumption that NASCAR rakes in a few bucks more than Formula D.

Back on topic, it looks like the BR-Z and FR-S could make some serious inroads in stealing market share from the MX-5.

A few updates:

I got an email from the Scion Regional Manager yesterday saying they have "visibility" of the car and will be providing a VIN soon. It should be allocated to the dealer by Friday at the latest

Ive also received an insurance quote and its not much at all. 23 year old male, 1 ticket on my record, $68.30 month as a second car with the same coverages I have on the CL ($500 ded, 100/300 liability and uninsured).

Ill be heading to the dealer probably on Friday to find out about financing. If its not what I want, Ill stick with my credit union.

Also, someone on the FR-S forum that is in my area said they saw a gray FR-S or BRZ (couldnt tell) driving around. Ill be pissed if its mine
