comfy and stunna were all set with their tesla orgy but this went over like a lead balloon. stock down 5% today already, was hoping for it to go the other way. This is pretty underwhelming.

Whats up with RDX owners?

The meeting hasn't happened yet, so I wouldn't sound the alarm until the stock reacts (which will be after hours). What we're seeing now are all the day traders reacting to Elon's tweets.

Elon tempering expectations is not a great sign...especially when coming from Elon.

Agreed, but Elon also likes to fuck with people.
That said, I'm not expecting ground breaking tech that's ready for production tomorrow. I think that's just unrealistic of any company.

Elon is just setting the expectations straight. Don’t go super high. .

But today the ICE automakers and oil cartel may hear their Hell’s bells ringing loudly.

The meeting is outside and all the people who won the lottery to attend are sitting in their own Model Y and presumably watching the livestream through the YouTube app in the car.

I get it... but if you wanna compare the Tesla interior to a widescreen TV, then i get it... You buy a house and the only thing you have in the house is a widescreen TV, no other furniture.. because that is all you get in a Tesla anyway - a big wide screen...

See, you start here.
Then you end here?
I'm not sure you understand what you're saying.
What a bunch of suckers. I can watch this from home on my couch.
I dunno, I can watch Youtube on my big TV no problem.

I didn't get to watch the presentation but I read the cliffs on Teslarati. It seemed mostly meh, and the after hours trading seems to indicate that.

Any idea about the battery size for Plaid?
#943
So it solidly beat the Lucid air in range and all performance specs. I always thought that Lucid had more range than Plaid. But they reported 517 miles. Guess that celebration didn’t last long. .

No clue. Usually to get that kind of power you needed a massive battery pack but these 4680 (official size) batteries 🔋 have 6x the power of a 2170. So you don’t need a 200kwh battery to get that much power

Yes to that much size and power but how much bigger is the battery than the current one? My understanding is that the energy density and chemistry of the battery isn't different, it's just bigger lol.
Doing the math, the current cell size (if it follows the same naming scheme) has a volume of: 24245.2mm^3
The new one has a volume of 132952.2mm^3.
That shows the new one has a volume 5x (technically 5.45x) the size of the old one. So...it makes sense it has 5x more energy.
You guys were all just had in a presentation where they just told you they made a bigger version of what they already had. It would be the same as if Chevy put on a huge production to show you the Suburban after they'd been selling the Tahoe for a few years.

Except that's not what happened is it? The stock price reflects the underwhelming announcement of a bigger battery having more capacity along with news that water is, in fact, wet.

The 54% range increase isn't because they're making a battery pack that's 54% larger and heavier. The term "range increase" is an easier to understand way of saying energy density increase, whether that's Wh/kg or Wh/L I'm not sure though if one increased then the other is usually increased by a similar amount. The battery pack should stay roughly the same physical size but inside there are many changes that add up to a 54% increase in range aka energy density at the pack level.
Tesla's 2170 batteries have a energy density of around 250Wh/kg though I've heard it being 260Wh/kg lately. It appears that 40% of the increase is in the battery materials so that would put them at 364Wh/kg. Now the more important rating is at the energy density at the battery pack level with all the structural support, wiring, BMS, cooling, misc electronics, battery case, etc included; the model 3 is about 160Wh/kg after all of that is included. That is the number that Tesla is improving by 54%, which would put them at 246Wh/Kg at the pack level.
And the battery cost half as much and almost guarantees they're under the $100/kwh at the battery pack level.
This will be how they make the Cybertruck with 500mi+ range cost $70k

When is the next Internal Cumbustion Engine Day? When will GM, Ford, BMW, Porsche, Renault etc having a big day where they show off how they've increased energy efficiency by over 50%, increased power, and cut costs in half. LMAO not going to happen, ICE is fucking dead.

It'll be years before EV are the majority. Even longer outside of metro areas.
I live just outside Houston & the availability of public EV chargers is not significant here. There's a few in parking garages at a few shopping centers/hospitals, but that's the majority of it.

Cool. And then there are guys who keep drooling over supercars such as McLaren and Ferrari. There's a guy in our workplace who comes in his Ferrari with its loud roaring engine. Yikes, such a waste, he really gives the impression of a moron. But I get it, even filthy morons have the right to do what they want. It's good that California is leading the country in enacting legislations against Climate change.

Compared to Teslas, legacy auto sports cars are like those 90s Civics with insanely loud exhausts and when you hear it you turn your head expecting to see a car going 100 mph but it's only going 10 mph. Just annoyingly loud and slow compared to Teslas.
