Tons of cars offer the same capability as autopilot for free. FSD (which is not FSD) isn't free, it's a $10k option.

Regardless, even though it's a work in progress, FSD is stuck in level 2 and isn't intended to go past that.

It can't - the hardware can't support it.

Honda - Sensing Elite (this is the only production car with a level 3 or greater system)
As far as I know Tesla offers autopilot free on all its cars in USA.
If the Honda system works on city streets with full traffic lights /cones recognition and acts autonomously, then it’s great. How much they charge for it?

Autopilot (which appears similar to adaptive cruise, which is standard equip on many ICE vehicles) does appear to be included, but FSD is a $10k add-on, at least on the Model 3, based on the current Tesla site.

Correct. However their $10k FSD suite is still a level 2 system.

Tesla owners are saying it isn’t possible for autopilot to have been engaged because there are no line markers on that road, it won’t run on a road without line markers

Can't use Full Self Driving on roads without lane lines? Interesting. $10k option

So the only “evidence“ that auto pilot was on was when they looked at the crash there was no dead body sitting in the driver’s seat. Maybe the driver didn’t put a seatbelt on and ran into a tree at 60 miles an hour flinging him from the driver seat into the back where he died.

so fucking ridiculous

so they backed out of his driveway drove a few hundred yards and crashed on a road with no lane markers which means auto pilot could not have been enabled but yet this is still auto pilot‘s fault and auto pilot costs $10,000

Costco logic…

If they weren't in the driver seat, they would have had to have had autopilot on to move. Otherwise, the car would brake under regeneration.

Auto pilot won’t enable if someone isn’t in the driver seat

Right, especially so when they themselves admit that it's not full self driving and won't be in the current iteration.

Uhh...the laws of physics would prevent someone crashing head on into a tree from being pushed into the back seat. If the crash was backwards then Tesla is using cardboard for seats.

Seems like at 11:30 on a Saturday night two drunk idiots enabled cruise control on a street with no line markers climbed into the backseat and died. Seems like a Darwin award nominee to me

Yes it's ridiculous, but unfortunately it's gonna get even more expensive and approach ludicrous in near future. Not sure I totally agree with that (closer to $100K in value), but, that's what the projection is when Robotaxis are fully operational.

You've been debunked countless times. Also, I'd believe the words of someone who owns one over one that desires to own one.

Technology gets cheaper with time, not the other way around. Not too long ago autopilot was a $7k add on, now it's free. I wouldn't (and won't) pay $10k for a feature that isn't guaranteed to work.

You really want to blame autopilot for a death on a road when facts show that it won't work unless someone is in the front seat, the seat belt is clicked in and the road has lane markers. The facts of this case doesn't meet all of those requirements so instead of admitting that autopilot wasn't enabled your only option is ad hominem attacks

I wonder if news articles nationwide were written every time someone abused cruise control and did dumb shit like this

We're there people going on message boards blaming the manufacturers every time someone abused a safety feature

When an automaker makes a claim that their car is able to perform "FULL self driving" it is absolutely appropriate to question and blame said automaker for resultant deaths related to use of said feature.

Well, and the problem is Elon is straight lying about it. On Joe Rogan he said

“Well, Autopilot is getting good enough that you won't need to drive most of the time. I find you can rest your hand on your knee"

However, Tesla's legal team in early march admitted "full self driving" will always be Level 2 (in other words, not full self driving)

Agreed. They need to change the name of it before they get into huge legal trouble.
