And like I said, Acura may have reneged on their policy, and I may be ignorant of insider workings, but that wasn't what I was going by in response to sicklex's comment.

I was totally thrown off by that troll. Anyways, the new RL is Motorweek's car of the month:

okay, I see what your saying... and I try to give sources as much as I can, and when I think it's a rumor, I ask others for confirmation or disproof.
hehe... you never know with some of these arguements, ya know. I had an arguement with B-Diddy right before he disappeared and I thought he was joking until he sent me an email at how stupid I was.
Sick makes good points, though, and he's reasonable in most instances. I think we should move onto another point about the RL... interior quality; is this thing gonna live upto it's price?
Junkster, whose gotta go home now

Well, I wish I can find and scan what I see here in Atlanta. Just b/c it doesn't happen where you are, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
You can get new G35s here for 26k with I35s. Q45s for damn near 40k. 12k off list. Not just one model #. I am seeing lease deals for the IS and GS since those are selling slow as well.
I made a thread on Clublex but not here about nearly buying a NSX. You could lease a new one for $799 a month (I think it was). They were dying to sell em. But nothing in stock and the mileage I think was 7k a year. Something ridiculous, even as a 2nd car. But gosh what a car, drooooooooooooool. The interest rate was right too.

And I just realize that we can PW if we pretend that we're fighting...

I know I'm not any way shape or form in the target demographic for this car, but it excites me that this new Acura rounds out the newly sporty and refined lineup. Maybe in thirty years i'll be enjoying a car from the top of Acuras lineup that is as innovative and potentially mind-changing (for the mid-luxury market) as this car could be.

Junkster, Yes I work at courtesy Acura. Moved out from CAli in july, Sold out there for almost three years.
20k units is 76 per Dealer per year, 6.3 per month per dealer. We have already sold 14. If other dealers are in a similar situation that would already be around 3500 units before mid december. And the car isn;t in showrooms yet.
In sept, there were 2 IS300s sold in Colorado.

9,000+ RX 400Hs are spoken for. We won't see one until May 2005 at the earliest. Why not bring that fact up? Or 3,000 SC 430s were spoken for in 2001 6 months before it came out in 2002. That is a 65k car.
I am sure the new RL will sell better.
1. It's a new model
2. It blows the old model away in every possible way.

"Acura’s newest RL flagship redefines performance and sophistication."
A bit of a pessimist, but I think he's right:
"Yet the prediction is that Acura will be fighting uphill to conquer its rivals and to entice status-ravening consumers who generally remain in thrall to the Teutonic mystique."

Were there any hybrid concepts with engine bay photos like this? Last year they showed the IMAS and KIWAMI. I don't remember engine photos for any of them. And the IMAS was the only IMA hybrid, I believe (KIWAMI was fuel-cell). The DualNote concept from years ago was hybrid but not IMA in the normal fashion, right?
Anyway. Any speculation?

Looks like the same photo. Either it's photoshopped or the Engine badge was changed at the time they were taken. Perhaps it's a sign of things to come or just a PR goof-up.

I don't remember who asked, but here's a small pic of the wood steering wheel on Honda's JDM website.

I watched the Motorweek testing of the RL on Speedchannel. Lots o' praises and such, but did anyone else notice...
... they also expected the price to be around 45k (well, they est. 46k)...
Junkster, who still can't get a feel of how big the RL is

The car will be at dealers next week - just go and see.

You can now vote for the Road & Track's Best Car of 2005. I cast my vote for the RL.

Dang, even at close to 50K they cut corners. The Acura website is now updated with the 05 information, I built one and noticed that the optional wood steering wheel specifically says "wood look" steering wheel...WTH?
#357
Priced out an RL that I built...wood steering wheel and shift knob, backup sensors, 18" wheels...$52,695
