^ The difference between Hyundai and Buick though is that Hyundai only has two luxury cars in a line-up of cheap versus Buick who has a complete lineup of luxury cars.

I see this joint isn't much different from how I left it. Just popping back in to say goodbye! I left the Acura family. The new TL is nice, but too little too late -which is saying a lot for me.
I wish you all well!

Vw posts record income, tops ford as most profitable automaker
The German automaker’s numbers bested analysts’ expectations and further strengthened its ability to take over Porsche.
“Fiscal year 2010 was the best year in the history of the group. Volkswagen already provided impressive proof of its robustness during the crisis and our group is now following that up by leading the field during the economic recovery,” VW CEO Martin Winterkorn said.
Volkswagen’s massive net income, reported in euros, bested Ford’s 6.56 billion, Toyota’s 6 billion and General Motors’ 4.7 billion last year. VW still trailed rival Toyota in terms of global sales, but the record income and continued growth in emerging markets help put it in a position analysts didn’t anticipate. VW has set a goal of becoming the world’s largest automaker by 2018, a position still held by Toyota.
An aggregate of analyst figures pinned VW at 4.96 billion euros, a number the automaker exceeded by nearly 2 billion.
Chinese position
VW’s sales in China were up 37 percent last year to 1.92 million and the automaker has closed its gap behind Toyota in other emerging markets like Brazil, India and Russia.
VW has nine vehicle plants in China and it says it plans to add two more to help double Chinese production to 3 million cars annually.
While GM is the best-poised Detroit automaker in the increasingly lucrative Chinese market, VW had a hefty head start. The German brand entered the Chinese market 30 years ago, making the people’s car the first foreign automaker to enter the People’s Republic.

^ Interesting graph, thanks for posting.
I would question the Buick being in there, I never though of them as a luxury brand.

As always, green indicates a rise over sales from the same month last year (in parenthesis) and red equals a fall. Equus will remain in black as it has only been on sale for a few months.

The 4G TL outsold the CTS and ES this month for the first time I think. No one can touch the E-Class and 5-Series, not even close. Not sure how the STS outsold the GS this month. The 3-Series, G, and C-Class all did really well as usual. The A8 looks like it is gaining some momentum, bit it is still behind the Panamera, which is still doing great. The 7-Series, S-Class, and LS all doing well, great cars!

The RL is a complete joke. Acura royally screwed that one up starting in 05. The 05-08 just looks to pedestrian, like an Avalon or Accord. It does not look like a luxury car, especially the flagship. What a shame.

And starting this month, this much better looking and much improved MMC TL can put the final nails into the RL's coffin.
It becomes even harder to justify paying that extra $8K-$10K premium for the RL over the MMC TL.

Just as I predicted - gas costs up, Fit sales going through the roof.
The Civic may get a further bump from new model along with high gas prices.
TSX wagon sales tracking projections.

Gas prices definitely seem to be having an effect. Ford dominates the mid-size CUV market now (will other SUVs like the 4runner & PathFinder follow the Explorer?) not sure what happened w/ the Camry ...

^ For some reason Chrysler didn't mention anywhere in its press realease that they started selling the 500 and strangely enough they sold 500 of them.

Obviously RL design is old so is electronics/engine but measuring Luxury, refinement and quality. there is no one else above RL in this Class
http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...nce/index.html
We journalists tend to dismiss the RL based on more or less abstract standards - it's not pretty enough, not sporty enough, not premium enough. But I suspect real owners absolutely love it. And why shouldn't they? The RL is quick, comfortable, quiet, and likely more reliable than many of its sexier European competitors.
The RL's quality remains its foremost achievement. Run your fingers along the perfectly aligned exterior panels, the thick slab of wood that runs across the dashboard, and the soft-touch plastics found under the dashboard. Even in a time when most cars are built to a high standard, Acura flagship's stands a notch above.
Such careful execution is also evident in the suspension tuning. Southeast Michigan potholes couldn't disturb the RL enough to spill my coffee, and a few decent switchbacks exposed very little body roll. The steering wheel, nicely trimmed with perforated leather and wood, transmits enough feel and feedback to make the car feel smaller than it actually is, a trick Acura engineers also put to good use in the larger ZDX. The RL's 3.7-liter V-6 lacks the grunt of its German rivals, but it's hardly impotent and is amazingly refined. Someone at Infiniti needs to take this engine apart and figure out how to build a large-displacement V-6 that's this creamy. The SH-AWD system makes the most of that power, further shrinking the car's footprint as it dances through turns.
Objectively, it's hard to find fault with the Acura RL. It's comfortable, refined, and very high quality. To me, what the RL lacks is personality. The exterior is not unattractive, but it's anonymous and bland, despite its unusual nose. The interior is nicely designed and of very high quality but it lacks style and flair. Hopefully with the redesigned RL, Acura will inject some personality into this otherwise excellent automobile.

Nissan says it achieved a 9.7% U.S. market share in March, the highest single month in company history. Complementing March's heady number is an overall market share of 9.3% for Nissan in the 1st quarter of 2011. That represents a 0.3% gain in market share, building on 2010's 0.4% gain.
March also saw the Nissan Altima take the title of best-selling sedan in America, another company 1st. The Altima contributed 32,289 units to Nissan's 121,141-car total, which is nearly a 27% bump over last year's March figures. It isn't immediately clear what incentives Nissan had on the car during the month of March to aid sales, but presently, the Japanese automaker is offering 0% financing for up to 60 months or 1.9% APR financing for up to 72 months, or $1,250 cash back.
Had enough numbers? Too bad, Nissan isn't quite done. Monthly sales were up 28.4% for the division, another record, and Infiniti saw a 13.5% sales hike in March. With numbers this big, Nissan is looking at a banner year.

Hyundai is continuing to do very well, setting an all-time record month and all-time record first quarter. The Genesis set its 21st consecutive month-over-month sales increase and the Equus is already surpassing sales expectations.
As always, red indicates a decrease over same month last year (in parentheses) and green indicates an increase. Due to its fledgling status, the Equus will be shown in black.
