Approximately 80 percent of the engine's parts are new, including the block, which has been made stronger. Nissan's white lab coats also added electromagnetic variable valve timing to the exhaust valves, a higher compression ratio and true dual exhaust.
This should be big news. I've read about using solenoids to provide infinitely adjustable valve timing but this is the first such application I know of.

WOW, 13.9 @ 102mph with 5AT . That's awesome
Mid-13s with 6MT should be attainable.

I tend to believe so as well, for the following reasons.

1. Obviously the MT is lighter and has less drivetrain loss.
2. The testers they've been using have less than a couple hundred miles (one of them had 2000, forgot which one). Times will be better with a broken in car.
3. They've been testing them in the dead of summer. Some cooler, less humid weather conditions will drop the times a bit.

The really big news will be when the valves themselves are controlled by a solenoid.

Imagine an engine with no camshafts, timing chain, etc.

Yep, plus 1/4 tank gas vs. FULL tank along with removed spare, jack, trunk carpet as some do and it will pull better. IS350 6AT runs 13.7@104mph and G35S 5AT is really damn close. I'm sure with i/h/e G35S 5AT can run low 13s and you can guess the numbers for 6MT

MT noted that Infiniti claims that the there is no more than a tenth of a difference between the Automatci and Manual trannies with respect to acceleration (in an effort to increase credibility about the tweaks in this MT).

I went to g35driver and it seems pretty dead there compared to acurazine, why is that? I did see some pretty pimp G35 coupes and sedans. Plus, they had that link to edmunds.com there. I liked that video!! That exhaust sound from the new G35 sedan is so badass. Now, if only Acura can implement that sound in their cars.

Thanks for the lead... I haven't visited the g35driver site in awhile. I totally agree about the G35 being badass... I never noticed that the lower dam of the front fasica changes with what trim you get. Also, the rear spoiler is also growing on me quickly.

Did you notice in the pic on the lower right why is it only a half black mesh grill and on the left it's a full mesh grill?

Good question. Could that just a preproduction thing? It'd be weird for it to stay like that for regualr production.

Doesn't G35 have one of those inteli-cruise thingies? It might be for that.

I'll have to wait to see it in person but hopefully Infiniti has upgraded the interior quality to IS and 3-series levels. If they did, with that exterior =

Good assumption. It does come with inteli-cruise with the tech package. That's probably it.

Air intake?

Seems to me that's the location for driving lights - if ever implemented.

I thought that works off the inside rearview mirror camera - same as lane departure warning.

Thanks for the answer to the mystery possibly

Btw, is it just me or are the 7th gen Accord headlights and the new G35 headlights from the side look like the same shape?

How come Nissan/Infiniti can make these new headlights look cool and badass, while (IMO) they look butt ugly on the Accord?

How many Acura owners on here are thinking of trading in their cars for the 07 G35 sedan or 08 coupe?

Coupe is what I'm thinking of trading up for, depending on launch date. But IS coupe and TSX coupe are supposedly rumored ... and now TL Type-S confirmed... a lot of choices.

It's on my list to look at next May after I finish grad school (finally).

The G35, 335i, Boxster, and IS350 are the final cut for now. (**Disclaimer**...This list changes daily)

When it came to "headlight styling" both the 7G Civic and Accord are. The 8G Civic gives one hope that the 8G Accord might be possible looker.

(exc. Boxster) My list is subject to change more often than the gear ratios on my Murano's CVT.

Edmunds said, "he 2007 Infiniti G35 sedan is a product of Nissan's Southern California workforce. In fact, it's the last Infiniti product to be executed in its entirety by those sun-loving surf bums, and it's a good one." Then it went on to say, "Designed and still built in Japan, the 2007 G35 is essentially the same size as last year's model." southern cal = japan? Not sure what the writer is thinking there.

The vehicle looks very good; maybe a bit too close to the previous generation.

Edmunds staff are always incorrect, they said that the Acura TSX was based off the Civic platform and not the Accord platform, those idiots.

2007 G35 sedan and 2008 G35 coupe, designed in So CA and built in Japan.

Did Ajay Panchal also help design the original G35 sedan and coupe? Possibly the 2nd gen G35's too? Just curious because he was the lead designer of the 350z.

I may consider a G25 if it becomes available. At this point, I want a car with good utility and gas mileage as a commuter and people hauler while still being fun to drive. I am already going to have a fun, impractical car available to me so I don't need something that's going to be hard on the wallet to upkeep.
